In this interview from 2024, I speak to UK based Nigerian filmmaker Durotimi Akinkugbe, whose digital film "The Kiriji war" was selected at the Accra Indie Filmfest 2024. We talk Accra Indie FIlm Festival selection, life as an animator and how he has been able reconcile with his Nigerian roots.
THE KIRIJI WAR OVERVIEW
An overview of a pivotal late-1800s war in Yorubaland. Durotimi shared - “I never learned any Nigerian history in school, so I thought it would be fulfilling to read about some of the more obscure stuff. I imagine there are others who would be interested in obscure Nigerian history, so I set out to condense the stories I learn into short educational yet entertaining animations.”
