I laughed out loud at that comment about getting pumped on HS and HVS progressing through the grades in the late 70s; such a perceptive observation and deep memory. Those really were milestone grades, especially at places like Wilton & Curbar where your first lead at both grades felt like the earth's gravity had increased ten-fold and someone had nicked all the fucking oxygen.
Nice to hear you mention our old school mates..I think the man who got your brothers in climbing was an inspiring teacher called Mr Campel, He was our house tutor but as I joined there a term before you maybe he had left by the time you arrived?
oooo, i'm new to climbing as a bouldering gym opened near where I live. but have wondered where in England to start outdoor climbing, this is so helpful 😀
Absolutely love the way you speak about climbing. Its exactly how i feel, but expressed in a much more entertaining manner. Totally stoked for you to continue(?) with youtube

Severe 4a is a pumpy grade! Cannot agree more: "Stonnis Crack" - Black Rocks - 1984: still remember it.

Cannot make sense of a single sentence in the first 30 seconds. Tie off an airship ?
You tie an airship to a thread through the, whole crag..
It's a pleasing image to me
If it doesn't fit within your expectations of a rigid normal, maybe its time to find a new hobby.
