Slide Away from this gig is heartbreaking to watch. You can tell the band is moments from collapse when Liam sits down. Noel and Liam are literally, half the world away.
This gig is a sad moment. Liam lost his voice, becaues of an undiagnosed Thyroid disease, which later, unfortunately after Oasis split, he diagnosed and he got back the strength his vocals, but his tone changed. Between 2011-2013 Liam had a band called Beady Eye with the rest of Oasis band members. But when Liam returned in 2017. he came back full strength and he still holds it and his voice year by year is better. But Noel and Liam don't talk anymore, both is the problem in this situation...
Liam here was damned angry. Probably both him and Noel knew that Oasis were ending at the time. You should check Slide Away performed during the same gig, you will see how angry is liam’s voice. Noel cried while playing the song.
This was a b-side that was used as a theme tune for the sitcom The Royle Family, which was brilliant. This was the last recorded Oasis performance, too. The band was hanging by a thread at this point.
Another B-Side, how many bands would have 1000s of people singing along to a b-side word for word. Noel is a amazing song writer. Little by little from Finsbury Park next please
It's used as the opening song on the TV series The Royale Family. It's also been used in Christmas Adverts and covered by numerous people. And its a B-SIDE... :-)
You can just see the end was near during this entire broadcast, this was officially the last recorded gig they done, it was available on disc 4 of the time flies boxset
It’s about getting out of Manchester. Scratching around in the same old hole refers to Manchester being a shit home with no opportunities. The song was used for the opening titles of the UK comedy series The Royle Family. Ps I’m from Manchester and it’s the best place on earth.
My all time fave Brit comedy - I'd LOVE to see a reaction to an episode of The Royle Family!!! A true representation of the British Northern grit! RIP Caroline Aherne - comedy legend & true genius!
if you watch slide away from this gig you can see the tension between noel and Liam. Also during champagne supernova , Liam points at noel when he sings "cos people believe that they're gonna get away for the summer" and then shouts "not on my watch they're not". its very sad to watch.
I’m 44 years old I remember when they came out in 1995 I heard Wonderwall, on the second album, But I went to a record store in my town and found a bunch of B-side recordings and found all of the songs that were not on the main album
when you went to an oasis gig at the start there would be groups of lads flexing properly tense atmosphire but after the first 6/7 songs when we all wanted to fight each other then noel rocks up and sings half the world away and all of a sudden we are all arms around each others shoulders saying "i love you fella!!
I reckon around 90% of brits born in the 90’s knows most if not all of the lyrics to every oasis song recorded on all of their studio albums. They are more than a band to us, they are our teenage years.
Noel (and his high flying birds) did this at glasto just gone, before Paul McCartney and it was so great. Sun was shining but slowly going down behind the stage. Just lovely. That is all.
The song was actually written after a girl showed Noel around places near where she lived. She did not know he was a huge rock star. Half The a World Away ....
Talk Tonight is about this occasion. I don't think Half The World Away was written about this incident. And he had met this girl before on a Oasis show, but couldn't remember her name after he met her the second time.
@@peterblack1639 I often almost mix them up too, they have a similar sound (and was recorded/released at the same time). Half The Workd Away might have been used in the documentary to illustrate his leaving also? Maybe my memory make this up.
@@peterblack1639 Wow, I envy you so much!!! I'm always late to the party with many of my favorite artists! I really liked some Oasis songs very much when I was younger, but never checked them out further for some dumb reason. But I've seen Noel and Liam live at least. I could only dream about an Oasis gig!
Other fantastic acoustic b-sides... Sad Song, Take Me Away, Angel Child, D'you wanna be a spaceman, fade away (acoustic version with Johnny Depp on lead guitar), It's better people, Rockin Chair... but there are more!
Been watching your reaction videos on Oasis songs, I like how you react to their songs. It made me listen to them again. I hope you listen to their song 'Go Let It Out'.
If you guys want a current British Rock band to listen to, try Foals. Awesome band, superb live too. Try Want Went Down or Inhaler for some heavy stuff, or My Number for something a bit more dance.
React to Slide Away from this gig, it’s the exact moment you can tell that they both know it’s all over, Liams Vocals aren’t the greatest but it’s still an unreal performance . Noels outro is incredible too
Liam was fuming during this gig. If you watch the whole gig, with no cuts between songs, he’s arguing with the crowd and in some of the other songs he’s just shouting into the mic. It’s vicious rock n roll. Definitely the beginning of the end.
Love to see how Americans view Oasis, they never conquered USA , at the time they were seen as too arrogant but that was the point, would like to see a review on Gerry Cinnamon , Sometimes
Liam hated it when it didn’t get to sing this is when the problems between him and Noel started! Watch the supersonic documentary, I know there will be copyright issues why don’t you guys watch it on your own then review it?just an idea.
This song was a nod to Burt Bacharach’s “This Guy’s In Love With You”...also Liam was definitely pissed off here. It was very near the end of Oasis in which he and Noel were not speaking to each other at all. Him staying on stage was absolutely to bother his brother (he would always walk off stage when not singing but not here). Bad times for them.
This song was also the theme tune to an iconic TV show in Britain called "The Royale Family". That was also amazing.
The Royle family
Yeah it’s ROYLE. We’re not taking about a Burger King chicken effort here ffs 😒

"I don't even see it as my song anymore, it's the royle family song"

Yeah such an amazing performance of that song. It's very interesting to compare it to early day performances of it
One of the best versions of it I think
Eff man, just watched it. That’s so sad. Love them both.
I agree Slide away from this gig is amazing but heartbreaking. Liam is so angry and noel is visibly upset. They definitely knew it was the end.
Yea Liam giving it everything he has

Although I agree with your sentiment, that was Fearne Cotton at the beginning of the video, not Caroline Flack.
@Ess Elle haha im not blind.....do you know what sitcom this song was from, and who wrote it?

Its true but i dont recommend it. Liam sounded awful during this period.
It’s because someone threw a drink at Liam
The two brothers weren’t really talking at this point, in their solo stuff Noel goes more Oasis ballad type while Liam goes old school rock Oasis
This was a b-side that was used as a theme tune for the sitcom The Royle Family, which was brilliant. This was the last recorded Oasis performance, too. The band was hanging by a thread at this point.
