    Flew Jetstar B787 "Business Class" Brisbane to Narita earlier this year. Predominantly Aussie Flight Attendants in the forward cabin. Two obviously Jetstar staff travelling were fawned upon and constantly plied with alcohol and snacks. Rest of us couldn't get so much as a glass of water without tugging at an Attendant's sleeve as they (very) occasionally did a lap of the aisles. Premium Economy describes it so much better. You pay a premium, but still get Economy treatment.

    As an Aussie who travels through LAX, SFO, ORD and EWR it's the smaller airlines we never hear about in the southern hemisphere that catch my eye (Allegiant, FrenchBee, La Compagnie, Norse, Sun Country) or the more well-known international airlines I've never seen in our half of the globe (Aeroflot, Condor, Ethiopian).
    Great trip report by the way, Kevin. Really enjoying your channel!

    There is currently a huge amount of animosity in Australia about Qantas and Jetstar and how their services have been ruined by the CEO and backed by the board. I never fly Jetstar or Qantas because of continued delayed and cancelled flights. No disrespect to any of their staff, who have had to endure a lit.

    I think Jetstar domestic have improved significantly in the last few months. I used to fly them years ago and was sometimes disappointed, gave up on them for awhile, then gave them a go again recently and was impressed. They are clearly making a concerted effort now and their CEO has recently said something to that effect too.

    My hometown! I'm pleased you enjoyed Brisbane Airport and your Jetstar flight to Bali. We did the same flight in 2018 in economy, in the mini cabin just behind Business. While Jetstar is probably my last choice of airline, I've never experienced any problems on their flights. Jetstar's 787 is a no brainer on this route as Virgin and various Indonesian airlines operate 737's. Looking forward to your Australian airlines series next year.

    We just did Jetstar, Hawaii>Melbourne and had a pretty mixed experience. Flight itself was excellent and on time. Cabin manager could barely mutter hello to us and would abruptly put our meals down. Had to ask for any refreshments, never offered. Sadly we also had a toddler that was let loose to run up and down the business class aisle and totally killed any peace and quiet we had hoped for. The female cabin crew were very gracious and kind. The food was ok but nothing to remember. All in all, I’d book it again purely for the space and comfort on a longer flight, but only if it was a really good price.

    Not an Aussie or a frequent traveler to USA, but I love the subject of exotic airlines, especially when it's about international foreign carriers. I think that there are still surprises if you check your local airport's airline roster that give off that same effect you're talking about.
    I had that double take moment when I saw an Ethiopian Airlines jet on approach to Jakarta, that came from Bangkok. When looking up about it by searching what airlines currently serve CGK, I discovered something even more insane for me, that there currently exists a non-stop service from Tashkent to Jakarta with Uzbekistan Airways. And that Josh Cahill covered this route in an pre-pandemic video. It's entertaining to watch.

    Always loved Jetstar, they're a VERY good source of QF points and status credits ... I've been lucky enough to have avoided their shenanigans but the horror stories make for some amazing news. Jetstar was mainly short haul until their long haul fleet was actually established with a small fleet of A330s. The 787s came waaaay later. PTV in YCL is paid for, otherwise you'll just get the flight map feature. I've also noticed the crew on JQ long haul is different from the short haul domestic. They're a mix from different bases around Australia, Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand. Especially the international bases, service levels tend to be a tad above the Aussie based crew. QF has always been under fire for milking their staff and using overseas crew where they can help it. There was a story of Bangkok based JQ crew doing Bangkok - Sydney - Honolulu vv flights and they were paid so little they could not afford to eat in layovers. The latest QF AKL JFK flights are crewed by NZ based crew, once again, are contracted by Jet Connect and paid a lot less than the standard QF long haul crew. Aussies absolutely love to bag JQ and curse about them, but hey... No one's saying no to the next $99 fare towards their next holiday. JQ is cheaper and gives us more points compared to QF. That's why I'll never ever pay to fly QF. Cheers...

    • @tfft

      @@tfft yeah my relationship with the QF family is purely transactional. Although I'm Aussie, I wasn't born here so have no emotional connections to QF. I get my points, redeem to fly.... And the cycle repeats. QF JQ is a very divisive topic for Aussies having 2 very distinct camps. 🤣

Back in 2020 when the pandemic struck and New Zealand closed its borders less than a week before I was due to fly from Melbourne to Queenstown, the only compensation they offered me was a voucher valid for six months. I asked if I could transfer this to my brother who lives in Brisbane. All I got was a vert curt No. Nothing else leaving me out of pocket. Air New Zealand and Virgin Australia gave me full refunds. Good Day Kevin, I enjoy watching your Flight Reports. I'm from Australia and I'm a 75 year old male. Jet Star will commence flights from BNE to BKK as from December, 2024. I usually fly with Thai Airways but since they only depart from Sydney it's a pain in the A. So my question to you is Jet Star Business Class OK. I notice you have to pay for food & drinks??? Anyhow I'm thinking of using them. I was going to depart from BNE and use SIA to Changi then onto BKK but again a pain. Am I doing the correct decision, your advice is greatly appreciated indeed. Take Care. John Mc

    • @falcc1
      @falcc1 12 дней назад

      Food and drinks are included in the business class fare. Total travel time is better with Jetstar as it’s direct. SIA via Changi can get you a bit earlier into BKK though as it leaves many hours earlier from BNE.
      Jetstar business is more expensive than SIA economy. Not a great deal of product difference imo.
      Only a red eye available on the way back with Jetstar though. To avoid go via Changi and then SIA back to BNE. Or go from BKK to Bali, spend a night or two and then Jetstar back to BNE.

    One observation - why don’t you post chronologically so this video before the Jumeriah Bali hotel video?

    • @tfft
      @tfft  Год назад +2

      I explained it in a post some weeks or months back. It is so that there are not more then 2-3 flight videos or 2-3 hotels videos published in a row. For now, the hotels will be in chronological order and the flights will be as well, but they’ll be independent of each other.

    The big part that is missing is that those who fly Jetstar Business Class have access to the Qantas Lounge

    • @tfft

      That is not correct. You need to specifically book the Business Max bundle which is usually $200-$300 more for this route in order to access the lounge.

    Hey question.... How long usually does it take u to finish editing one flight video, and how long for one hotel video? Not including filming, but just Roughly...for editing from start to finish only + script writing + voice recording... Curious to know how much time u put in per video. Ur videos r so consistent and of great quality., so just curious

    • @tfft
      @tfft  Год назад

      Generally speaking I work on 8-12 videos at the same time to take advantage of efficiencies in doing so. Using that system it’s around 12-15 hours per video- this can be much higher for certain hotels. If I did one at a time it would add around 3-4 hours to the process for each video.

      I don't fly across the country anymore. None of our airlines are reliable. Late, cancelled flights. Lost luggage. Pass. We go to Asia or Europe these days. We paid a nights accomodation in Singapore rather than catch the only later flight on Jetstar. Hubby was no way in hell. We would rather do that and jump on Singapore Airlines.
