My life basically started in NM as it is where my parents were raised, but my Dad was in the Navy stationed in VA when I was born and they didn't make it back to NM until I was about 2. We reluctantly moved to OK when I was 11 and I've been there every since, but I never forgot about my favorite cookie, favorite sweet of all time, The Biscochos!! Mom always had us help her make these every year and it was something I always enjoyed as well!!! She lost her recipe somewhere along the way and so we hadn't had them in years until about 5 years ago when I was finally able to find the recipe online when I was 47. That makes me 52 now!!!!! Now I make them every year myself, and every year I'm transported to my childhood and I am in heaven, until the last cookie is eaten, LOL!!! Thank you for not only sharing the recipe, but also demonstrating how the lard must be whipped/creamed and to continue that process until all of the wet ingredients and the anise seeds are incorporated, as a lot of recipe videos don't even touch on that part of the process to make these light, just a little crispy, wonders of heaven!!!!! Much love, many blessings, Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas!!!!

Awe. You're grandma must have been so special. I was named after my great aunt, Marcela, who was the closest thing to a grandma I had. She lived to be 101 and I loved her cooking. It was very simple, but for whatever reason, it just tasted better in her kitchen. Anyway, I'm happy you found this recipe. I hope it brings back sweet memories.
Thank you. Yes, my mom and I are very close and I have stacks and stacks of her recipes. What's funny is, she had bought me that cookie press years ago, because it's exactly like hers, but I had never used it until the day we shot this video. I had no idea she had put that recipe in there. It was so precious to me.

@@marcyinspired1442 Ahh haha! We are related. My grandpa Mariano Evaro & your grandma Jesusita were brother and sister. My moms name was Jenny E. Noriega
@@mortiz1220 Oh, wow! What a small world! I knew the name "Jenny" because my mom has mentioned it many times through the years. So, I called to ask her. She got so happy and wanted me to ask if you are Molly. If so, she remembers you driving out there in a Harley Davidson.
@@marcyinspired1442 Yes! I'm that Molly.
This thread is so wholesome! Love that family was found with one creative gal and a delicious family recipe. ❤
Wow, she didn’t put vanilla extract or brandy in it. But they still look really good! My dough came out really sandy when I used another recipe. I’ll try it this way instead.
Let me know how they turn out for you. These are my favorite!
I think if u use OJ u omit the brandy and or the vanilla
Did u by any chance attend Las Cruces high school & graduated in 1979, or u from Las Cruces?
I'm from La Mesa. I went to Gadsden High School and graduated in 1984.

@@mijacita My maternal grandmother was an Evaro, and my neighbors were Saenz. There's a good chance we know or are related to the same people. That's what happens in a small town. Lol
@@marcyinspired1442WOW!!! my uncles name was Camillo Evaro & married my tia Nena her last name was Ramirez she was my grandmas sister. Saenz is my late tio Lencho Saenz married my auntie Corrina. Oh & Camunez too. I knew Terry Valenzuela too, LOL....

Recipe to print
I don’t have that many people coming over for Christmas. So I’ll cut it down to half.
This recipe does make a whole lot. My mom used to make them for weddings, and we have a huge family, so that's probably why. FYI, Biscochos freeze really well.
I made them yesterday and they are so delicious! They taste better with time too! The orange flavor really comes out with time. Thanks for sharing your great recipe with us!
Cookie press gripper style
There's definitely a learning curve to the cookie press I used. I was so relieved when I finally got the hang of it. Lol
I was sad to hear it had to be lard as I can't eat that.
YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO USE YOUR HANDS
Yup!
SUGAR BEFORE COOKING 🤔🤔🤔
After
Ah the debate. Lol, I do that before because I feel it stays on the cookie better. But one year I did half a batch with dipping in the sugar before and the other half after and the family preferred the before taste. So I guess it's up to preference, though I got to say dipping them after makes them appear prettier in pictures.
Bicochos? Wtf are those ?
Did you watch the video? It's pretty self-explanatory take the time to watch the video before you comment.
