@@Lothenrin in this specific case it's a refference to "for whom the bell tolls" by Hemmingway. Set in the Spanish civil war. The title for the book, and the song, come from a poem by John Donne. awesome he fought for the country but im sure he would rol in his grave if he saw it now!
I wont lie this video fucks me up mentally everytime to think what they went through. Sooooo much respect to everyone who has served and to everyone currently serving.
My great uncle stormed the beaches of normady and my great grandfather fought in Okinawa and the red sea, iuojima and in the guadacanal

Really shows the chaos the Marines went threw. Truly great job!!!!
To my Dad , he was a paratrooper on D Day , he was flown inland and was shot out of the sky , the French saved him somehow , that why I am here today
Nice your dad was saved by the french.💎Also what division did your dad partake??
For example like the 82th division aka the "The all American division" 101st airborne division etcetera.

My uncle was a Marine in WW 2. Fought against the Japanese on Guadalcanal and Okinawa. Volunteered to carry flamethrower. Talking to him in his old age , you would have never known what a badass he really was .
He probably never thought of himself as such. He just wanted to keep AMERICA free.
I thank him,XXX A girl from NZ
All I have to say, is any who served in WW2 is a badass....anyone who VOLUNTEERED to carry the flamethrower, their just legendary.

What about germans and japanese
@Jack Adogoff Yes, but Greece is a very small country and nevertheless fought bravely for freedom, just like in 1821. You can see what happened back then😀. (I can't tell you because the the comment will be very long.)

@@mk45gunnr25 you are right but what is wrong with liking a song about anti-war? Well you'll say I don't really know, well I guess you won. Good job.
@@Lothenrin in this specific case it's a refference to "for whom the bell tolls" by Hemmingway. Set in the Spanish civil war.
The title for the book, and the song, come from a poem by John Donne.
The line "do not send to know for whom the (funerary-) bell tolls, it tolls for thee".
The anti-war theme is not as thick as in "one" but certainly there.
God bless the brave fallen soldiers that served Their country for a better future. Rest in piece.

No es el Día D, es la batalla de Iwo Jima.
Pacific theater not Europe
I know this song is based on the novel from the Spanish civil war but everytime I hear it, when I visualize the brutality the song is truly trying to put on display, all I can think of is Omaha beach and the men getting showered with bullets. God bless all of those men, I am proud to say one of my great grandfathers was on that beach that day. Love this video, thank you so much for making it. While I know I am lucky to not have to experience such things, this song pumps me up and will temporarily make me wish I had to make the same kind of sacrifice and take on such a task.
I was in the United States Marine corps back in desert Storm and they used to make a joke about this song but I had a lot of meaning and they always say for who in the Bell tones meant that when you met that you're demise that the church bells will bring in your memory may all vets worldwide be honored to this song and may your grandfather always live in peace and love and respect towards them
Thank you For your Service
