My sister was a very gifted Librarian. There's 2 yrs between us but we were like twins. She died a yr ago from breast cancer,. She was 57. She chose this song for me to sing for funeral but COVID intervened & we never had a funeral. Turns out I wasn't the strong one after all. She was a warrior.
I heard this come up on KCSM (radio station) and had to drop everything and just listen... It felt like I was at a jazz lounge again, so soulful and serene
Just before our love got lost you said "I am as constant as a northern star" And I said, "Constantly in the darkness Where's that at? If you want me I'll be in the bar" On the back of a cartoon coaster In the blue TV screen light I drew a map of Canada, oh Canada With your face sketched on it twice Oh, you are in my blood like holy wine You taste so bitter and you taste so sweet Oh, I could drink a case of you, darling And still be on my feet I'd still be on my feet Oh, I am a lonely painter I live in a box of paints I'm frightened by the devil And I'm drawn to those ones that ain't afraid I remember that time you told me "Love is touching souls" Well, surely you touched mine Part of you pours out of me In these lines from time to time Oh, you're in my blood like holy wine You taste so bitter and so sweet Oh, I could drink a case of you I could drink a case of you, darling And still be on my feet I'd still be on my feet I met a woman She had a mouth like yours She knew your life She knew your devils and your deeds And she said, "Go to him, stay with him if you can But be prepared to bleed" Oh, you are in my blood like holy wine You taste so bitter and you taste so sweet Oh, I could drink a case of you, darling And still be on my feet I'd still be on my feet
The fact that she can play and sing like this makes her one of the best performers I’ve ever seen. Absolutely my favorite version of this song. Love her 💖
you all probably dont give a damn but does someone know a way to get back into an instagram account?? I somehow lost my password. I appreciate any tips you can give me
If you lucky to hear this on vinyl it is even better, It is just brilliant , you can hear everything , the pedals on the piano , her breathing the lot. It is one of the best recordings I have ever heard . It cost me a $80 to import it , was worth every cent.I don’t like all of her music but this is just beautiful. My speakers, electrostatics eat this, shut your eyes & your see her & the piano, as others have said sublime.
I am from Japan. I have listened to this cover song by Diana Karl so many times and I can't count how many times I do. If only I could express my feeling in actual words... but I would fail however I try. I'm so grateful to be able to meet this song in my life.
I hope you've listened to Joni Mitchell's original, too. Joni gives the melody equal weight with the lyrics. Diana emphasizes and takes her time with the lyrics. Both are gorgeous. ( Prince uses only one or two verses but it is beautiful, too.)
I always feel peaceful every time I listen to this. So subtle and pure. How amazing it is to have such feeling towards someone like the way she is delivering.
I remember listening to this when I worked as a security guard to supplement my husbands income. I remember thinking this was like our marriage(2003).It didn’t last but today I look back with renewed energy and no hurt. Life is a wonder.

This is from a Diana Krall Album that I have on a vinyl LP . It is so well produced you can here every breath & inflection in her voice & every push . It is so smooth it’s hard to explain. Diana Krall’s voice is different. To hear this song playing on a great sound system for me is so pleasurable & relaxing. It’s an awesome recording
@Jim Curotto To which Joni version do you refer? Although I spent years listening to Joni's original release, I recently have preferred her second more thoughtful and soulful orchestrated version. Gotta say, though, that this homage by Diana Krall does Joni's thoughts and sentiments great justice. It's a beautiful rendition of a timeless rumination about how love can be sublime and also how it simultaneously can fall woefully short of one's emotional expectations at the same time. It takes great spiritual maturity, something Joni Mitchell seems to have been precociously born with, to acknowledge one's romantic mistakes while redeeming what's left of a deep and sincere love. Joni Mitchell will always be a musical genius for the ages. It's gratifying to know that great musical talents like Ms. Krall want to render their renditions of Joni's timeless works.
Correct. The greatest artists in music history, often times interpret the words of another, differently and sometimes BETTER than the actual songwriter. This is a fact. Only low IQ types don't understand this. Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, are three such iconic artists. Again, anyone who doesn't understand this, is very low in the IQ department.
there is a better rendition, Live in concert 2002 on utube , she is wonderful but that night she was in the 'mood '...she sang it as if she wrote it ,so much emotion !!
Beagle76 yes contraltos have an overall dark colour, rich timbre and a heavy weight to their voices. Actually their low registers have a Tenor like quality to it. They don't sound like men necessarily, but you can still hear a difference between a Contralto and a Mezzo-soprano counterpart. Turns out Joni is a true Mezzo Soprano! at 3:00 l can hear how dark and chesty Diana gets!
I absolutely love my husband, but there is one guy who I will never forget! Marc, wherever you are in this wide world, thank you!

I’m sorry for your loss, but play this in her memory, from time to time.
You still a warrior.

Yes, its the best version of this song, even better than original

Always heard Prince was inspired by Joni Mitchell, can understand with this song, but man this cover hits you between the eyes.
I hope you've listened to Joni Mitchell's original, too.
Joni gives the melody equal weight with the lyrics.
Diana emphasizes and takes her time with the lyrics.
Both are gorgeous.
( Prince uses only one or two verses but it is beautiful, too.)
David Burke Heard Diana sing it at the Count Basie Theatre, Red Bank, NJ. She caused me to weep.
i GOT here since RUclips algorithm keeps recommending ä case of you"
I have no idea why this is happening
….”but be prepared to bleed” 🩸 Great lyrics…..
Wish not to compare, but to revel and rejoice. Thanks Diana. Powerfully beautiful.
If you have really lived there is one case out there you never forget...sublime.
A consistent "sublime" as only she can deliver...lovely.
Janice Tranos ;) no words...
Listening..a beautiful thing!
Janice Tranos unforgetable is an exquisite thing....
That word "exquisite ?" Just hovering always to land somewhere in the yearning.....
This is the ultimate version for me.
I always feel peaceful every time I listen to this. So subtle and pure. How amazing it is to have such feeling towards someone like the way she is delivering.
chavella minerva great

This song done by Ms Krall reaches my heart. Wonderful! Yes, there is at least one case out there... This song is for you, darling!
Joni Mitchell and Diana Krall are both amazing artists

Totally agree! Gotta listen to this with a high end system.
WHAT a voice! What an interpretation of one of the most beautiful songs ever. Brava.
No one will ever beat Joni's version for me, but this is awesome
Jim Curotto I think Prince did her justice
I think this wonderful version is above the original and all covers I've heard. Diana sings it with a passion that is simply
unmatched

Joni is a brilliant songwriter but Diana’s version is why I love the song.
This piece even touches bones & nerves!
Nobody has touched this song as closely as its composer. Many have tried.
Gary N. Reese, I believe Prince’s cover was superb
Pure poetry what else can one say
She's so stunning I love this song!
Still loving this song in 2022 ❤💞💓
I can listen to her forever
Love is touching souls
Superb interpretation of this great song. So full of feeling and such impeccable phrasing.
You will occasionally hear a voice that has within it a harmonic quality that turns into chorus.
Great voice! Smokey & Sultry
like a painting, minimal but full of the light. light that burns into the soul.
This cover is way better than the original
Although this is lovely, it makes me yearn for Joni's voice..
A Joni Mitchell classic classically redone by Diana Krall
+Tom Connell - And wonderful done, Tom‼️ ;-)
Sam
so beautiful ♡
for the one that got away....
This is favourite version of Case Of You by Diana since 2010.
pure class
Beautiful cover
I apologize, but even as a Canadian, I love this version more than Joni Mitchell's
I am a lonely painter. I live in a box of pain/paint. You have the tools. It is up to you to produce something worthy. Pain and possible reward.
Joni latest version is close to this. Some people call this a cover, it’s not it’s this tremendous musicians interpretation of this great song.
Correct.

It's different........ an interpretation with her vision but there is only one Joni and she can never be surpassed.
Wonderful.
phenomenal
Amazing!
Hélder Vaz da Silva beautiful and lovely voice to comfort the lost soul at large!
2019... y aún la sigo escuchando... como si fuese "ese" día 💖

Sublime
If you like Diana Krall, you will like this rendition.

@@doniedeveney5896 This does say Live Concert 2002. (Post the link to the one you think is better, please!)
@@CidYoung-REALTOR i think that was live at Las Vegas album version..the better one is live in Paris and its on video on utube
wunderschön - great - piekne
Maybe an interpretation more sensitive and emotional than the stunning original version of Joni..Diane is super and touch my soul
both canadians!
Very nice cover of a Joni Mitchell masterpiece. Love Diana but it's hard to improve on perfection.
Linda, mais que demais. Rsrsrsrs amo
Take this, this is my blood.
beleza !
peaceful
she sounds similar to joni in 2001 when she recorded with and orchestra and her voice was getting lower and huskier
tom johnston Interesting. Diana is a Contralto. The female voice can lower with age... I heard that Joni started out singing Soprano
I agree with that . I have both recordings, they are close . Diana Kralls voice is different though!
Beagle76 yes contraltos have an overall dark colour, rich timbre and a heavy weight to their voices. Actually their low registers have a Tenor like quality to it. at 3:00 l can hear how dark and chesty Diana gets!
Which cd is this song on? I love Joni Mitchell's version and had never heard it done by Diana. She definitely makes it her own. Thank you.
"Live in Paris"
live in paris.
Omfg...
I kenw en kenw by kenw. I knew end with Gad site
