Anil Kapoor was famous but not that huge of a star. I remember the scene from Parinda where Anil comes from US and he meets Jackie on the street and they cause a traffic jam. I was actually there at the traffic signal where that scene happened. I was in school at the time everyone knew Jackie who at the time was a much bigger star. This was before Mr India, Tezaab etc. Anil had given hits with multi starers but few hits as solo hero… He was the hero in Mashaal but Dilip Kumar stole the show. “Janbaaz” was a hit but Feroz Khan stole the show. Even in “Mr. India” which was his home production and he was the main hero, it was Sreedevi and Shekhar Kapoor (as director) who stole the thunder. Besides he was literally invisible in most of the movie! Maybe that was the reason for his insecurity! Anil became a super star after “Tezaab”. That was the film that catapulted him into a hero who carry a film on his own!
There is something peculiar about Nana - one feels like listening to his views his videos again & again. Here when he said whatever role ir may be he would make is Star role and it really happened in 'Parinda' - Anna's role is largely remembered in that film while Anil Kapoor's role is faded, it seemed just like visitor role.
It was Vaccine War not Bacco war Nana Patekar, apki film Welcome back bhi dekha hai jisme aap ek eccentric Don bane hain aur jo apni bahan se behad pyar karta hai, Waise kuch din phle maine aapki The Vaccine war bhi dekha.
There is a rift between Vinod Chopra and Nana Patekar.. everyone knows. But first time I heard him lashing out at Vinod Chopra. Samajh mein nahi aa raha, kaun sahi hai aur kaun galat. Kahi aisa na ho jaaye ki itni wonderful film (Parinda) se bharosa hi toot jaaye.
