I really enjoy your videos and I recently did a video of my van walk through. If you get time please watch it. I seen a few things you have that I want to get. I have no idea how to edit. I’ve gotten things from Temu, dollar tree, goodwill, and thrift stores. I’ve found expensive things from thrift stores for nothing. I found a really nice headlamp from dollar tree. Five below has neat things a stool like you have I got in pink months ago. I will be doing another walk-thru again soon.
Put the steering wheel cover on your dash, it will warm up and help it stretch easier over your steering wheel. I just found this out when I got one. 😄😄😄

Exactly!! Honestly, whenever I see one, I'm like, this must make people feel like they'll never be able to do "vanlife" because they make it look sooo over the top. I took enough shop through school and watch enough RUclips that I am sure I could make something beautiful. But I don’t have time. I want to do vanlife so I don’t have to keep working 83 hours a week. The exhaustion I feel when I get off work would make it dangerous to operate power tools. My vanlife doesn’t need to be luxurious, it just needs to be a means to an end.
I want to van life at least part time when I retire, but that’s a few years away. In the meantime, I’m going to be doing a lot of weekend car camping trips starting this fall. Seeing you at the beginning of your journey is very helpful. Thank you!
back again. I am the lady from California Becky I think I told you before my husband passed away in February. I was his caregiver for 5+ years. He was a veteran Agent Orange exposure when he was just a young guy in Vietnam. I married him sooner after his Vietnam exit and whole marriage was absorbed by his sickness. I am truly grateful that I was allowed to take care of him and honor him by taking care of him during this time it was hard. It was during Covid and all the caregivers were taken out because of spreading of the disease. So it was just up to me my grandson who is older and my two younger grandchildren who are now in their teens also live with me. It's long winded. I wish I could talk to you longer, but I'll do my best this way since February it's like it goes in cycles. The grief is overwhelming at times and it builds up to where I just have to cry and it just comes out this morning. I lay down after a little bit of work was done. Took a nap crying in my sleep and I couldn't figure out why and I stay in my room a lot by myself. I get out maybe a couple times a week to go do errands it's usually work. It's usually all the stuff you do when someone passes away. it's just too much and I was also like you said what did I do wrong? What why am I feeling this way? It's called a personal inventory. I couldn't figure out why I was crying. I wasn't giving grace to myself to allow myself to cry. I was stuffing my emotions. I was in a 12 step group called codependence anonymous anyone that had a dysfunctional family alcoholic, marriage, drug addiction abuse all that or any of that or have been raised by an alcoholic which in my case was my dad mom was the codependent you learned traits and how to cope and taking care of everybody else was one of them at the expense of myself. My husband and I both got involved in AA and coda I think you could even go to meetings online now but every time I would leave a meeting I felt grounded like I was wearing off course but now I found my way back to where I was before and I felt good there. I'm 70 years old and still having to practice a personal inventory to find out why I do what I do I have a lot to do. I'm doing in the middle of a trust for myself so the kids don't have to worry about that when my time comes but so much things like the election has drained me. I hate to see how this country has fallen I don't really wanna get into candidates for me. There's really no one I like all that much. I am a Christian but the people that say they're a Christian don't act like Christians so it's very conflicting for most people causes a lot of anxiety so I prayed about it and God said according to your standards, there's really no one that fits you so vote different or don't vote at all and I went yeah I can do that so that's where I met with that but still felt disconnected somehow well I hadn't been journaling. Been reading my Bible. I have really not too many friends. They're all going through so much right now themselves, but listening to you has helped me greatly today because it was today that I woke up crying in my sleep so I want to thank you. You have a pulse on the show in other words you have the pulse on the people you know what your people are going through cause we're all going through it one way or the other. This is a support group for many I'm so glad that you're taking time to take care of yourself. If I don't feel like going to an appointment I cancel it if I don't feel like getting food and going to a store, I order it in. I don't feel like cooking, but I'm sure one day I will. I'm just not making myself do anything I don't wanna do. I crave peace and quiet. Tomorrow because of the election and I've already voted. I will just hunker down in my house. Read the word. I'm gonna order the book by Miss Wingate. I love books. I'm a compulsive Book A Holic and I'm just going to do some of my paperwork, play my music and relax. Have you ever listened to CeCe Winans her music just fierce as my soul pierces my soul. I'll be praying for you, Rochelle. We all need to lift each other up the food you made look absolutely wonderful and just to let you know you are on the path God has for you. There are no mistakes. There are no conflicts from his point of view. He loves you right where you're at. Have a grace with yourself and if you don't wanna do something, don't do it. Don't be guilty to do anything guard your soul and happiness and you know what feeds your soul go there. I'm even going through past relationships before my husband and processing that which I really didn't wanna do, but that's where God has me because I went right into another relationship when I met him I was never able to process stuff. It's a lot of trauma and it has to go somewhere and I think God wants us free. He's coming for a perfect bride the church us I'm long-winded I'm sorry, but you blessed me today and I will pray for you every day. You are on my prayer list and hang in there. Just do you when you can sometimes I just go to the bathroom turn on the fan and read my book is even in my bedroom. I'm interrupted out of my peace. Find that place if it's under your headphones with your favorite music, so be it I know you have a small child so you have to be awake for that but when you can just take a moment to smell the coffee speaking of, I'd love to have someone right now. I'm gonna pray from the Bible a prayer for you it's a Hebrew prayer that they say in their congregations and I will pray it and in respect for others if they don't believe, I will pray it in my silence and not offend anybody, but God bless you all. We shouldn't hide and pretend our lives are perfect, that's why I wanted to share this. Maybe it would help someone! Yes i completely understand. This election season has stressed me out, im just ready for it to be over and I know that at the end of the day God is in control! I'm also working in that myself, if there's something I don't want to do, I need to say no, or atleast wait until I'm ready. These days I'm seeking peace and closeness with God! It’s good you are organizing when you are out in the wood they say spiders 🕷can ballon themselves right into your cozy place I hear those screens with a magnet are very helpful to prevent any thing with wings might want to find another chair set it out as a second one for others to think 🤔 there are two people there at your place plus your kids can use them too stay hydrated keep water 💦 there at your side stay safe God Bless you ❤
It’s pretty easy to organize your living space if you take something out, you put it back I may have OCD. That’s what they tell me if I cook clean as I cook, I wash my clothes and dry them. I take them out the dryer fold them and put them up, I sleep in my bed when I get up I make my bed very simple. Whatever you do clean up after yourself your place will stay clean every day all day tired or not
I’m all about organizing stuff. Always looking for ideas too. This is a new chapter in your life. The more you hit the road the more you will see what you really need in your van or don’t need. Trial and error!😊. I dealt with that in our small truck camper and two big dogs!

I think it's smart to start with the basics and fine tune/add things after using a vehicle for a while. I'm going extra extra slow with a minivan as it is even smaller and housing costs super high; need everything. Grateful for YT videos to help me minimize things I will have to buy multiple times on my learning curve.
Everything looks great Rachelle! Just wanted to mention those rolls of grippy fabric (which you can usually find at the Dollar Store) are great for holding bins like the ones you just bought in place. We have used it for years in our camper both on the floor and between the bins and it keeps them from sliding if you can't use bungees. LOVE your channel.
When I started van life I bought stuff that I thought I would need. I piled a lot of things in my van, then found out how much room & weight was being used needlessly. I heard someone say that all items put in their vehicle had to have at least 2 uses! I had 2 Collapsable sinks! 1 for dishes & 1 for washing myself. I gave 1 to someone who needed it. I bought blackout curtains that had hems at both ends, cut them in 1/2 & saved 1/2 the cost. ( from Walmart). I use Dr Bronners Pure Castile soap for cleaning dishes myself laundry (now I use Earth Breeze eco sheets for laundry).
Yes!! That's amazing!! And a great rule of thumb! Things pile up so easily and it can get out of control quickly, so I already know I'm going to go through everything again to make sure I don't have anything I don't need! Thank you so much for watching ☺️ ❤️

Hey Rochelle 👋🏽 You are 100% correct about this lifestyle. This biggest expense for me was a mechanical issue. I had to get a new vehicle after breaking down in Alabama at a park. Now I have to build my emergency fund back up. So I hope people plan well financially before full time vanlife. This happened to me and I’m doing this part time. 😂

Those containers with the plastic utensils, would be nice for taking along meals that you've made at home to take with you on your travels. I may have missed it, but if you don't have one, please consider a good first aid kit and keep it near the front of your van so you can reach it easily. Also, you can buy an inexpensive fire extinguisher and it could be a life saver.

One thing rarely spoken of is an emergency kit , not those cheap kind with 2 bandaids and an aspirin lol i made a huge one with a tackle box ,bandiads gauze scissors ,knife small saw antibiotics silicone hose for compression ,superglue, needle and thread, ibprofen ,alcohol ,snakebite kit,headlamp,whistle,👍please tell me what i left out , love hearing others ideas❤
Yes!!! I have a box with a lit of that in there! I need to go through your list and make some adjustments to mine! I definitely don't have anything for snake bite. For the space between the driver's seat and the bed, measured in terms of length and the maximum height and depth you need to fill you might be able to find an item in a thrift store or something of that nature that fits that area, or could with some modifications.
I wouldn't lower that bed. Because you'd be surprised what you accumulate. As you are seeing new places and then you go wish we had that storage. I.need a bed build like that lolol

Have you thought about changing the bed from across the back to going from back to front? Then you could lower the bed so you can sit up on it. I would want to stretch out when i actually sleep.
Oh I'm very short so I'm actually able to lay in the bed completely flat without my feet touching the end, so that's a plus, it's just too tall. I would love to be able to sit on the bed. Thanks so much for watching ☺️ ❤️

I'm gonna pray from the Bible a prayer for you it's a Hebrew prayer that they say in their congregations and I will pray it and in respect for others if they don't believe, I will pray it in my silence and not offend anybody, but God bless you all. It’s pretty easy to organize your living space if you take something out, you put it back I may have OCD. That’s what they tell me if I cook clean as I cook, I wash my clothes and dry them. I take them out the dryer fold them and put them up, I sleep in my bed when I get up I make my bed very simple. Whatever you do clean up after yourself your place will stay clean every day all day tired or not

I think it's smart to start with the basics and fine tune/add things after using a vehicle for a while. I'm going extra extra slow with a minivan as it is even smaller and housing costs super high; need everything. Grateful for YT videos to help me minimize things I will have to buy multiple times on my learning curve.

Everything looks great Rachelle! Just wanted to mention those rolls of grippy fabric (which you can usually find at the Dollar Store) are great for holding bins like the ones you just bought in place. We have used it for years in our camper both on the floor and between the bins and it keeps them from sliding if you can't use bungees. LOVE your channel.

When I started van life I bought stuff that I thought I would need. I piled a lot of things in my van, then found out how much room & weight was being used needlessly. I heard someone say that all items put in their vehicle had to have at least 2 uses! I had 2 Collapsable sinks! 1 for dishes & 1 for washing myself. I gave 1 to someone who needed it. I bought blackout curtains that had hems at both ends, cut them in 1/2 & saved 1/2 the cost. ( from Walmart). I use Dr Bronners Pure Castile soap for cleaning dishes myself laundry (now I use Earth Breeze eco sheets for laundry).

You are 100% correct about this lifestyle. This biggest expense for me was a mechanical issue. I had to get a new vehicle after breaking down in Alabama at a park. Now I have to build my emergency fund back up. So I hope people plan well financially before full time vanlife. This happened to me and I’m doing this part time. 😂

Those containers with the plastic utensils, would be nice for taking along meals that you've made at home to take with you on your travels.
I may have missed it, but if you don't have one, please consider a good first aid kit and keep it near the front of your van so you can reach it easily. Also, you can buy an inexpensive fire extinguisher and it could be a life saver.

One thing rarely spoken of is an emergency kit , not those cheap kind with 2 bandaids and an aspirin lol i made a huge one with a tackle box ,bandiads gauze scissors ,knife small saw antibiotics silicone hose for compression ,superglue, needle and thread, ibprofen ,alcohol ,snakebite kit,headlamp,whistle,👍please tell me what i left out , love hearing others ideas❤

Have you thought about changing the bed from across the back to going from back to front? Then you could lower the bed so you can sit up on it. I would want to stretch out when i actually sleep.
