Welcome to the world of symphonic metal and Nightwish. This is only a fraction of what she , and the band , can do. Floor Jansen (Yan-sen) is the 3rd and current female lead singer. 90-95% of the songs, including the orchestral backing tracks, is written by founder and keyboardist ,Tuomas Holopainen. As you will see, every song is different, but all awesome. Wacken (Vah-ken) is a metal festival in Germany and Nightwish headlined here in 2013, Just before them was Alice Cooper. This was song #13 of a 15 song set, and that energy was kept up throughout. Gabriel Bardac will give you more info and links to a lot of their songs. He will be here soon. Floor Jansen is one of the best versatile singer in the world. From growling to the highest notes, this woman our Valkyrie Goddess can do everything and that to perfection. What others can't even do in studio, she sings live.

Rock music will never die. Why? Because you don't get all the emotions you get from rock from modern pop music or hip hop. Floor Jansen is an incredible vocalist and there is probaply nothing she can't do with her voice. I have been in this crowd and it was an absolute magic night.

I have seen many times where people provided links to poor quality versions, lower bit rates, changes in speed, even user-made videos, for songs that have better versions available. Gabriel has painstakingly selected the best quality versions for the songs that he recommends. By all means, others can recommend other songs with their own links, or even disagree with the best versions, but in my opinion, Gabriel has done the work for newcomers, that makes it easy to follow. There are definitely songs worth checking out beyond the ones in Gabriel’s list.

Since discovering Nightwish and Floor only 6 months ago, one of my new favourite things in life is to experience people's first time reactions to this phenomenal band particularly their live performances and watching and listening to you both reacting to this phenomenal masterpiece was one of those times when I could relive the feelings that I experienced whilst trying to fathom how and why I had never heard of Nightwish before. Now, I am buried deep in the Nightwish rabbit hole absorbing everything that they have done from the Tarja, Annette eras and now Floor. Nightwish along with my life long favourites, the Electric Light Orchestra (E.L.O.) are my two favourite bands and Tuomas and E.L.O.'s Jeff Lynne are for me two of the best songwriting composers ever. Oh Fam, Wacken, the village where this happens, is small, not even 2,000 inhabitants. When this heavy metal festival was started, the inhabitants were shocked, when the metal fans arrived. Wild looking guys and gals in dark leather, on motor bikes. Fearsome, than suddenly one of this wild guys sees a granny hefting a big bag of groceries for taking home and he helped her home. The other ones were much more courtues than most "normal people. From that day on the people of Wacken in Northern Germany had friends and guests all over the world. A Nightwish concert(with Floor Jansen) is life changing, i have seen grown men cry after the show was over. Floor, is an Empath and draws her energy from the crowd and in return gives it back 100 fold. She is so sensitive to the things around her watch her youtube channel. Her husband is the Drummer for the Swedish band SABATON, and they live of a farm in the country side in Sweden, and they have a 4 year old daughter named Freya, and they protect her privacy religious by never showing her face in videos or pictures, then they have multiple horses, and Feinnis their dog and cats, and they grow alot of their own veggies. Floor and Hannes are a couple to look up to and admire.

12:53 this Nightwish Show was actually performed at the Wacken Festival. Wacken is a really small Town in Germany. Ist has just 2000 citizens, but it's the Organizer of one of the worlds biggest Metal Festivals with 70.000 Visiters per year. The whole Town helps and lives for this Festival. So I think they know exactly what to expect, when they look out of the Window. 😂

1st Floor Jansen is a vocal BEAST!!!The band is amazing so total melt down time LOL. Rock Opera at the highest form!! Funny you said Viking; Floor is a 6' tall Finnish vocal goddess with charisma to just own the stage!! This is on my bucket list for concerts. Former vocalist Tarja Turunen was also just amazingly good. I see you have discovered the joy that so many others have found in listening and experiencing Nightwish! Floor Jansen, the Valkyrie Queen of Symphonic Metal, has summoned you with her heavenly voice, as this band has done for over 20 years. The Nightwish Army....which you saw 82,000 members in that audience at the Wacken Music Fest in Germany! The Nightwish Army does not fight, we love this group of brilliant musicians! You have Tuomas, the musical genius who writes and scores the music for Nightwish! He is also the keyboardist! Then you have Emppu, the man with the purple guitar, that is the lead guitarist...and he is one of the most underrated guitarist around...but he can shred with the best of them! Marko is the bass guitarist, although he left in 2021, but has left the door open to returning..maybe??? Add a new bass guitarist named Jukka, and the drummer, also named Jukka, had to stop playing not too long after this concert...the exact time frame, I don't remember! Jukka had severe Insomnia, which can be extremely hazardous, but he is now a member of the management team! I understand this all too well as I was hallucinating and I was getting less than 5 minutes of REM Sleep a night. I have been using a Bipap machine since 2001... and I get a good nights sleep nowadays! There is also Troy..not in this video....if you ask him what instrument he plays...he just says...yes...I play them all! All joking aside...Troy is a great addition to the band, and has an excellent voice also! Enjoy yourself when listening to Nightwish! Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory):
" Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland...
... Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [The 1st Bassist of the band was Sami Vanska, he was with them until 2001. The 2nd one was Marco Hietala, as Bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least - we'll see what the future brings to us. Then very recently (May 2021) Jukka Koskinen became the 3nd Bassist of the band, for at least the Human :II: Nature tour - and very recently, the band announced he became a permanent member] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition.
Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her.

Floor Jansen (Yan-sen) is the 3rd and current female lead singer. 90-95% of the songs, including the orchestral backing tracks, is written by founder and keyboardist ,Tuomas Holopainen.
As you will see, every song is different, but all awesome.
Wacken (Vah-ken) is a metal festival in Germany and Nightwish headlined here in 2013, Just before them was Alice Cooper.
This was song #13 of a 15 song set, and that energy was kept up throughout.

Floor Jansen is one of the best versatile singer in the world. From growling to the highest notes, this woman our Valkyrie Goddess can do everything and that to perfection. What others can't even do in studio, she sings live.

Tuomas is a musical genius. Everyone in the band is a master. Their songs are all big and epic sounding, but are all different at the same time. I have seen many times where people provided links to poor quality versions, lower bit rates, changes in speed, even user-made videos, for songs that have better versions available. Gabriel has painstakingly selected the best quality versions for the songs that he recommends. By all means, others can recommend other songs with their own links, or even disagree with the best versions, but in my opinion, Gabriel has done the work for newcomers, that makes it easy to follow. There are definitely songs worth checking out beyond the ones in Gabriel’s list.

Since discovering Nightwish and Floor only 6 months ago, one of my new favourite things in life is to experience people's first time reactions to this phenomenal band particularly their live performances and watching and listening to you both reacting to this phenomenal masterpiece was one of those times when I could relive the feelings that I experienced whilst trying to fathom how and why I had never heard of Nightwish before. Now, I am buried deep in the Nightwish rabbit hole absorbing everything that they have done from the Tarja, Annette eras and now Floor. Nightwish along with my life long favourites, the Electric Light Orchestra (E.L.O.) are my two favourite bands and Tuomas and E.L.O.'s Jeff Lynne are for me two of the best songwriting composers ever. Floor attended the then new Rock Academy in 1999 and graduated in 2003. She also studied 2 years at the Conservatory (1 year Music Theatre and 1 year Opera). Besides managing a band on her own she also did a lot of vocal coaching and as she is a perfectionist, she wants to do everything at 100%+. Eventually she had to pay the price and got a burnout. She had just recovered when end of september 2012 the call came from Nightwish to fill in for the remainder of the North American Tour at first as their second singer Annette got ill. Floor joined Nightwish after this iconic Wacken concert in 2013 as permanent member of the band. Floor continued to perform with 'Revamp’ also, but it was clear that she could not combine the two for much longer, so 'Revamp' disbanded in 2016. Oh Fam, Wacken, the village where this happens, is small, not even 2,000 inhabitants. When this heavy metal festival was started, the inhabitants were shocked, when the metal fans arrived. Wild looking guys and gals in dark leather, on motor bikes. Fearsome, than suddenly one of this wild guys sees a granny hefting a big bag of groceries for taking home and he helped her home. The other ones were much more courtues than most "normal people. From that day on the people of Wacken in Northern Germany had friends and guests all over the world. They might be rough, but they have a heart of gold, this heavy metal fans. Elmar from Germany.

Excellent reaction guys! Keep going down this path. You won't regret it! Yes, they are amazing live! I saw them in a fairly small venue of 1000 people (The Egg in Albany, NY) 4 years ago and they sounded great! Perfect performance! I was mentally exhausted after that show, and that was fine with me. 😀 Been a fan for almost 25 years.

A Nightwish concert(with Floor Jansen) is life changing, i have seen grown men cry after the show was over. Floor, is an Empath and draws her energy from the crowd and in return gives it back 100 fold. She is so sensitive to the things around her watch her youtube channel. Her husband is the Drummer for the Swedish band SABATON, and they live of a farm in the country side in Sweden, and they have a 4 year old daughter named Freya, and they protect her privacy religious by never showing her face in videos or pictures, then they have multiple horses, and Feinnis their dog and cats, and they grow alot of their own veggies. Floor and Hannes are a couple to look up to and admire.
More Nightwish please. :-) You haven't seen anything yet! Greatest random thing I have ever found was stumbling onto Nightwish on YT back in December. Fell for them hard and went to see them live in May in NYC. Greatest show I have ever seen in my life. They're amazing live.

12:53 this Nightwish Show was actually performed at the Wacken Festival. Wacken is a really small Town in Germany. Ist has just 2000 citizens, but it's the Organizer of one of the worlds biggest Metal Festivals with 70.000 Visiters per year. The whole Town helps and lives for this Festival. So I think they know exactly what to expect, when they look out of the Window. 😂

1st Floor Jansen is a vocal BEAST!!!The band is amazing so total melt down time LOL. Rock Opera at the highest form!! Funny you said Viking; Floor is a 6' tall Finnish vocal goddess with charisma to just own the stage!! This is on my bucket list for concerts. Former vocalist Tarja Turunen was also just amazingly good. Got 2 bucket lists out of the way this past year, PTX, Trans-siberian, and now have tickets to Stadium Tour of Motley Crew, Def Leopard, Poison and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts in Vegas...can't wait!! I see you have discovered the joy that so many others have found in listening and experiencing Nightwish! Floor Jansen, the Valkyrie Queen of Symphonic Metal, has summoned you with her heavenly voice, as this band has done for over 20 years. The Nightwish Army....which you saw 82,000 members in that audience at the Wacken Music Fest in Germany! The Nightwish Army does not fight, we love this group of brilliant musicians! You have Tuomas, the musical genius who writes and scores the music for Nightwish! He is also the keyboardist! Then you have Emppu, the man with the purple guitar, that is the lead guitarist...and he is one of the most underrated guitarist around...but he can shred with the best of them! Marko is the bass guitarist, although he left in 2021, but has left the door open to returning..maybe??? Add a new bass guitarist named Jukka, and the drummer, also named Jukka, had to stop playing not too long after this concert...the exact time frame, I don't remember! Jukka had severe Insomnia, which can be extremely hazardous, but he is now a member of the management team! I understand this all too well as I was hallucinating and I was getting less than 5 minutes of REM Sleep a night. I have been using a Bipap machine since 2001... and I get a good nights sleep nowadays!
There is also Troy..not in this video....if you ask him what instrument he plays...he just says...yes...I play them all! All joking aside...Troy is a great addition to the band, and has an excellent voice also!

Arjen himself is telling (in subtitles) who the singers are and which instruments are used and by which standards.

And nothing against Amy Lee- she and Evanescence are a great band but they're not in the same league as Floor and Nightwish.
