I've tried lots of alcohol and cigarettes but it is still crap ;-) Perhaps cocaine or crack would do the job, but they are illegal - and so should be this song. Given the fact that Israel has sent so many good songs and gifted singers to ESC I rather suppose the Israeli jury was drunk or stoned while deciding for this band and song. Or they simply couldn't afford to stage ESC so soon after Dana Internationals win in 1998 again and thus decided to be on the safe side for not winning ESC. In this respect, PingPong did the job perfectly - Israel received only seven points and took the 22nd place from 24 participating nations. However, French singer Sofia Mostari (23rd place / 5 points) and Belgian singer Nathalie Sorce (24th place / 2 points) can claim the remarkable achievement of having been even worse than „Sameach“.
The stellar choreography (particularly those glorious arm motions during the bridge), the out of tune singing, the weird dancing, The Syrian flags at the end and the fact that this was the first Eurovision song of the millennium... this really is everything I have ever wanted.

The first Eurovision song of the 2000's decade! And what a horrible way to start the decade.... it's like a warning sign for all the trash entries that would follow in that decade.
It was the first song performed in the new millenium/decade in the stage of Euroviion. It sums up, pretty much, the way Eurovision was going to be onwards: an out-of-tune, extravagant dance-karaoke, mixed up with gay rights and politics. For me, a masterpiece!

To be honest, I quite like the song. 😀. It is upbeat and fun.
The lead performer (notice I wont use singer) was a culture-critic who had friends in high places at the IBA (nowdays KAN). He basically viewed this as a public paid-for vacation, got his friends together to form "a band' called "ping pong" - the only sport he could play - and the song was "mocking the contest forcing unhappy people to be happy". They were obviously stoned on the night, screaming lyrics that were complete nonsense to create silly grade-school rhymes, Arad also wanted to "highlight defiant culture" by the gay kissing and political gestures, both 'not acceptable' in ESC. In short: our worst ever entry, thanks to IBA corruption.

This was the first Eurovision song of new Millenium really. But if you look at it; it previewed what Eurovision this Millenium gonna look like; weird rythms, out of tune singing, nonsense lyrics, lots of LGBT stuff (1:14 first gay kiss, ofc there is nothing bad about that but still), overly political peace messages (2:50 Syria and İsrael flags) and, in the end, everyone likes it (big applause from the hall). Not high quality ballads sung by good voices, with good lyrics and results out of politics like between 50s and 90s.
(Although I like it this way more lol)
