Theres so many methods of doing this online - I feel like I find something new in each one so thank you!!! I end up adding a circular rainbow gradient from the gradient subtool clipped over the perlin noise/ using rainbow brushes.
Thank you so much for this. I'm creating an indie game in a 90s anime style inspired by the 1995 Ghost in the Shell movie. But until now I did not find a way to add the finishing touches to give it the authentic look 😃
Hello, I am planning on doing the exact thing! Even down to the specific movie inspiration. All of the anime games I've seen don't have the look that I want, so I've been going research on how to make it look authentic. Are you still working on the game you spoke of? I would love to see the progress you have, or a picture of the style you have created
For those who want chromatic grain in clip studio, I found a workaround: New Layer, add the perlin noise filter Duplicate this layer 3 times. Between each layer, make a solid red, solid blue, and solid green layer. Clip the solid colour layer to the grain, and then set the blend mode to multiply Merge each layer. Set the top two noise layers to screen Flip the top layer horizontally Flip the middle layer horizontally AND vertically, or rotate it 180 degrees, both do the same thing. Merge the three noise layers together. Continue as in the video after that. Credit to a guy on the clip studio forum called Xenefia for the workaround
For those of you who may think the manual method is boring to do each time you need to apply or diffcult, there is an auto action on paint clip studio assests store that you can get for free. All you need to do is to select the auto action and it will create a new layer with all the tools, perlin noise, motion blur and noise, all you need to do is to adjust on your liking and press enter. It is good if you do a lot fo this style cuz this way you don't need to do it manual and fetch it on the menus everytime. Also btw CSP has now chromatic aberration if you wanna add it after.
Daaaaamn, this is the most authentic way of doing this, that I've come across. Great work man and thank you for making it so detailed and comprehensive!!
Thank you! This Is straight to the point, easy to understand and follow tutorial. I'm relatively new to Clip Studio Paint, so thank you for showing each step in such a clear way!
I didn't expect that I'd get whiplashed back to my TF2 days by Millionaire's Holiday being used in the intro. Not necessarily a bad thing, just completely unexpected.
TIP: If you are using Krita, using the G'MIC filters (built into windows versions under 'filters' tab) will make a lot of these processes much easier. There is a perlin noise filter with or without additive color, and the "Channels to layers" filter will automatically take your image and separate it into the three RGB channel layers!
Blue the Bone is my favorite who does this Retro type style. though i don't agree with her keeping it a secret how she does it. it's not about "HOW" You do something, it's about how WELL you do something. there could be 1500 artists just like her, but her style is my favorite, therefore she would have nothing to worry about. and im sure many, MANY other people feel the exact same way i do i mean, that would be like... Akira Kurosawa not explaining how he films a scene, or Michelangelo not explaining how he carves stone just because someone else said they wanted to "Try" to make a Statue like David lol
Also, idk if it's just me, but i think it looked PERFECT at 4:44 so maybe consider trying to re-do this, but leave out the last steps to see how it looks with that grainy look to it
man you really sped through some of your actions and didn’t show some steps, it made for a quick edit but it was hard to follow step by step when in some cases you didn’t show what layer you were on
Is there a possible way to apply this to a Movie file in clip studio instead of editing each cell individually to apply the filter. Whenever I rasterise the animation it turns into a picture. So i was wondering if this process could be applied to like an movie file in clip studio?
This is so damm hard to replicate in Krita, it can't just have a normal brightness and contrast slider. But instead input, output level curve graphs that not even the documentation has a clear tutorial on.
i have not watched anime in a long time, been watching final space witch i would recommend to new comers on syfi if their interested i think its a mixture of star trek and guardians of the galaxy in my OPINION "i feel like if i put that in caps people would listen and would not get pissy about stuff "
Love the work you've done here! really amazing stuff but honestly I have a genuine question and I hope it comes off as constructive! Here's what I don't get, so I realize making cel art is a-lot of work and hard to pull off, however I'm confused as to why these videos doing retro filters don't just go the whole 9 yards and make authentic cel art! Only if to truly make it look like real cel animation with real ink and vinyl paint on celluloid. An example of what I mean is I can always tell something is digital rather than analog when used only with a filter, so when I see this I appreciate it more as an amazing digital anime character that takes major aesthetic influence from the 90s era and I love that all the same really, maybe even more tbh. What are your thoughts on this? Do you think of this as more an homage and stylistic art piece or would you consider hand penciling, inking over onto cels then painting in a future video! it would be awesome to see a retro throw back using the original materials.

Brilliant solution!

there is also free chromatic grain filters on the clip studio store
This "new" Tripplejaz is pretty lit.

As someone who uses Ibis Paint X, this is still strangely helpful and useful! Tysm! :D

Wow so accurate. I kind of want to take this pic and ask around looking for the "forgotten anime" shes from haha
"If these problems were present today we would just fix them in post."
And that's why we're out here trying to recreate this imperfection.

That looked so clean, thanks for this tutorial !
So now we can enjoy the beauty of the 90's anime style with new art projects once again.

This video is 🔥, keep up the amazing work my dude.
OUO Your really fully making this a game? PLEASE MAKE THIS A FULL GAME.
This was awesome man! I hope this new direction for your channel brings you success.

I already miss all the Sonic stuff you did at least you're continuing Sonic freedom that's nice
Amazing, thank you!
So easy to follow along! Your method makes me feel like I have control of what look I'm actually going for.
This looks sick!
man you really sped through some of your actions and didn’t show some steps, it made for a quick edit but it was hard to follow step by step when in some cases you didn’t show what layer you were on
yeah :/
This is really neat! I wonder if you can add this effect to animation folders.
What happened between 4:15 and 4:17? The background was yellow-ish and out of nowhere it turned white...
I set it to 15% and pressed enter. You can see at 4:17 I still have the layer selected and the opacity changed.
Thank you so much!
thank you!!
A lot of people are complaining about the blurriness returning due to ai upscaling, but I actually prefer it lmao.

Thanks for sharing you're big brain
5:53, what? how did you blend those things together?
Use screen blending mode
any help how i can create the grain effect with krita ? the default one seems very different
Maybe it could be on 2000's Especial 80s and 90s, anime and Cartoon
This is so damm hard to replicate in Krita, it can't just have a normal brightness and contrast slider. But instead input, output level curve graphs that not even the documentation has a clear tutorial on.
I do it all in Krita
What pen should we use for 80s/90s anime?
i think probably gpen or turnip pen? i used turnip pen o3o
Use the rapidograph pen in my free brush pack :D
please need another video for filter in anime 2022 please 🙏
Should be up to date! Nothing presented here is dated methodology for either program. Let me know if you run into problems or have questions.
@@tripplejazno I mean this filter is 90s we need Different filter to ,the filter in 2022 anime series
i have not watched anime in a long time, been watching final space witch i would recommend to new comers on syfi if their interested i think its a mixture of star trek and guardians of the galaxy in my OPINION
"i feel like if i put that in caps people would listen and would not get pissy about stuff "
You talk real fast...
A bit slow between steps, and a bit fast doing the the steps. I had great results though.
