Back in the days of these cars, I owned a few, including Humber Sceptre Mk3 Hunter shape, twin Stromberg carbs, used to easily achieve 110mph though it could do with another 5th gear.
Cool. My dad had a (UK) Hillman GT. It was like a sporty poverty-spec Hunter but I loved it ( it did have O/D, rev counter and rostyle wheels though ).
We didn't get the Royal 660 in the UK but the "Hillman GT" WAS a sporty poverty-spec car with a few sporty bits on it; it was based on a Hillman Minx. Only later, when it was relaunched as the "Hillman Hunter GT" was it a higher spec.
Good video that one guys. Good clear footage and interview with added footage to help the storyline side of it. Plus that little Hillman was a beast. Kept that XR6T honest. I wonder if they are a shared shell with the MK2 Cortina's, gee they look real similar.
Hillman were part of the Rootes Group which included Humber amongst others. Chrysler bought Hillman around 1967 and the Hunter we had, had a Chrysler badge on the front guard. They resemble a Cortina or a Datsun 1600 but part of the style of the day. Great little car, and they still make them to this day believe it or not. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hillman
This what you do to an old british car to make it more reliable put a Japanese engine in it you don't have to go as far as this one but any Japanese motor prefiably a Toyota motor as long as it fits
No, it’s a British car. When they stopped making it here, they sold all the machines from the factory to Iran, who carried on making them as the peykan.
Jane darling,if you dislike these cars so much why you watching lots of hillman vids ? I've noticed your remarks elsewhere🤔 this Hunter is cool ,deal with it 😂

Lewis72 the GT or Royal 660 were the upmarket models not the poverty pack. They had extra guages, rally wheels and twin carbs too.
