This is really good Afzal - I've been 20 yrs in Banking, including 8 yrs in Investment Banking, and looking to potentially move into Asset Mgt - so was an excellent run through of the differences.
    Thanks so much.

Good luck going from the sell side to the buy side. Selling is easier than buying and your skills, especially risk management, is something you’d struggle with

Great video, I remember when you first started with a few thousand followers and now you are over 100k subs.
It's great you have kept up with your very high-quality and insightful videos, and made your channel the best on youtube in your area of expertise.
I would say in a few years you would have half a million subs and will be the key man to provide the newer generation with all the information.
Well done bro. I can see you have talent in this space and will do very well adding a lot of value to society. Keep it up.

I did not understand the difference between Asset Management and Private equity. In PE also, the company invests client's money on private companies(basically creates a portfolio) and when the private companies generate income, the PE firm takes some cut and returns it to the client. Asset management also sounds similar.

Supergood presentation! Since the S&P has moved upwards at about 8% annually on average I wonder what expectations an institutional investor has towards the Asset Manager? When the markets are weak like 2000-2010, what type of conversations would there be between investor and Asset Manager? I read that the Norwegian Oil Fund (1,4 Tn) created in 1990 has an average return of only about 6% in spite of having 70% in the global stock market-- seems to me that they could do much better?.

Great video, mate, but I do have a few questions. Hope you don't mind answering them.
So, what are the key differences between asset managers and hedge funds or private equity funds or VC funds? Since they all take other people's money, invest it, and get a cut in return?
Does the difference lie in the type of investments made?
Do asset managers invest in hedge, private equity, and VC funds?
Why don't these big institutional investors just create their own in-house asset managers? They obviously have the capital to hire professional investors and support personnel? What are the advantages for them to outsource their investment process?

I am doing my MBA in Finance and want to join Investment bank in Asset Management or Private Wealth Management or M&A. I have experience in data analytics and want to join in any one of the department as analyst. I want to know what should I write in my LinkedIn to show my interest to join Investment banks in any of these department just to make a start of my career, because if I write all the three departments then recruiter think I have no idea about what I want to do.
