Engine Misfire Under Load?! Look Here First! (Any Engine!)

- Today we dive in to a common problem and a commonly misdiagnosed problem. The engine miss under load. It can be tricky to track down because it only happens while driving. In this episode we will dig in to the most common causes to give you a starting point in the quest of making your car run well again. This issue can come up with points ignition or hei and is commonly misdiagnosed as a carburetor issue. You should be able to turn this into a diy project with simple hand tools. Sometimes called a stumble, or the engine runs rough, symptoms that often appear overnight. Our issue is with a 350 small block Chevrolet but this method can help with just about any car with a distributor.

What about pre fire or pre ignition under a load?
thats a little different... the way you phrase it, that is detonation... or pinging... that may have something to do with your overall timing or timing curve.... that said.... if you feel confident that your timing is in the ballpark look for 2 cylinders that fire one after the other and make sure their plug wires are not touching... they can arc across each other and cause a miss under load. you want the wires to touch as little as possible....
