I became a kpop fan around the same time you did in 2010 when I was 18 through SNSD and SHINee! I’m 29 now and still love kpop but agreed that it can be hard to find kpop friends in my age range. Luckily I have several now but it feels like it gets harder as I get older. Concerts are fun because I’ve met a surprising amount of older fans at shows in Seattle and Vancouver! Music is timeless and I don’t think I’ll stop liking it just because I’m not the target audience anymore.
I feel quite lucky to have found many people my age and even older than me in the shinee fandom. Older groups definitely have older fans and it's really such a different atmosphere compared to younger fans. There really isn't much sense of competition, we're focused on celebrating our own faves and help each other collect.
Please just remember that we will always be here for you even if you don't upload, or if you're late. You and your videos bring us happiness and I hope that you put your own health first! Your videos are always so calming and I can watch them for hours :) Also we stan a lot of the same groups so every video is always so fun and exciting!

I started to like their music because like you it begun with me being bored some time in December of 2013 and watched my first ever K-pop dram entitle "Heirs." I am way older compared to most K-pop fans. Some think I am weird for having to appreciate K-pop music when we also have a lot of great artists in our country. I do not really understand all of the lyrics but hey music is universal. It speaks to the soul. I recently bought 6 albums but it's all EXO and Baekhyun's. I watched your unboxing before I actually bought the albums although I do not have the luxury to buy all of the sealed albums. I prefer not to collect anymore so the photocards really do not matter for me. The CDs and the photobooks would suffice. I am a collector of many things (especially original dvds and vcds I have over 1,000 of them) even if it is expensive but have to be realistic because I do not have enough space anymore in my room to collect more. Keep all the videos coming. I am planning to watch old mvs of Shinee. Taemin and Key were instrumental in me becoming interested. Key is so funny and smart especially in variety shows. You too were instrumental. Do film videos too with you "physically" present instead of just hearing your lovely voice. Thanks.

T_T

I’m an older kpop fan and started listening to kpop around 2006, but even back then it was hard to get into kpop consumption because merch and content was just harder to access (everything you had to wait for fan subs or hope a fansub group would pick up a variety show kpop idols guested on, only the bigger content got subbed and pirated/uploaded online, finding places to buy kpop merch was difficult too). You had to search online a lot more for kpop content since it was scattered everywhere. Like, albums and b-sides wouldn’t be uploaded to places like RUclips (since streaming kpop music wasn’t even a thing back then), but someone MIGHT upload a download link to an album to MegaUpload. There was a looooot of pirating back then lol. Anyway thanks for this Q&A. I notice some people selling BTS & Stray Kids photocards for $30-60 and it blows my mind that these actually get sold. I also feel like there are pros and cons to a small fandom. Like for AB6IX their photocards are generally around $5-10 on Mercari even for new ones, but it’s also not that common to see new sellers where I live (in the US) because there just aren’t a lot of fans who buy AB6IX albums in the US. It probably helps though that AB6IX only have 4 members, and I feel like their individual popularity among western fans are about even, so everyone gets priced pretty similarly. I even saw someone on twitter willing to trade their extra MO’COMPLETE AB6IX photocards for universe app codes since Universe is having an AB6IX fansign with like 120 (30 each member) slots of 3 min each.

B.A.P are one of the most underrated groups of all time! I love them so much and miss them with all my heart! Im going back and collecting their albums and pcs. Im gonna take my time with them though no rush. Noir is one of the greatest kpop albums of all time its so good!! Honey I'm 38 and I just started collecting just NCT stuffs last year, I just knew about kpop during pandemic because I was bored working from home. But I only collecting NCT because they got the best songs, it makes me so bad for just listening to them in spotify.

Honestly, Stray Kids have not made any comeback for 9 months is weird for a JYP group, I know they have to film Kingdom and some stuff happened, but it's just weird 👁👄👁
Stray Kids always do what they think its better for theirselves! They were busy promoting their japonese album in november and between december/january they were focusing in end year awards and their performances in those shows! Since february till now they have been dealing with a member in a hiatus and Kingdom which are both really stressful! So its not that weird they aren't having a comeback in my opinion! I think they are probably waiting till lovestay Boy comes back to have a comeback! Since i don't see them coming back without ot8 🙃

There is tons of older people in kpop community...or well, at least in the fandoms I am in (and I am one of the older people too...or even ancient apparently according to some edgy tween twit stans). But I guess it depends a lot on groups you stan but BTS have tons of older fans and of course 2nd and (other) 3rd gen groups. I don't know about the new groups though because I am not in the fandoms...honestly, the "youngest" group I actively stan is Astro and they have debuted i 2016.
If B.A.P makes a comeback in the future i will lose my mind. I will buy their album even if it's in a trash bag bc i know their songs will be good. I guess I'm lucky i'm not collecting photocards i just keep one or two i find really cute smetimes, but i'm so WEAK for the photobooks lol
Finding this video kinda late but I just wanted to comment on your mention of not a lot of older people that are into K-pop. I'm a 44-year-old male. My 23-year-old daughter got me into k-pop. I'm a music lover by nature and was looking for other music to get into. So, there's at least one male in his forties that loves k-pop! BTW I love watching your videos. I also feel like there are pros and cons to a small fandom. Like for AB6IX their photocards are generally around $5-10 on Mercari even for new ones, but it’s also not that common to see new sellers where I live (in the US) because there just aren’t a lot of fans who buy AB6IX albums in the US. It probably helps though that AB6IX only have 4 members, and I feel like their individual popularity among western fans are about even, so everyone gets priced pretty similarly. I even saw someone on twitter willing to trade their extra MO’COMPLETE AB6IX photocards for universe app codes since Universe is having an AB6IX fansign with like 120 (30 each member) slots of 3 min each.

B.A.P are one of the most underrated groups of all time! I love them so much and miss them with all my heart! Im going back and collecting their albums and pcs. Im gonna take my time with them though no rush. Noir is one of the greatest kpop albums of all time its so good!! Honestly, Stray Kids have not made any comeback for 9 months is weird for a JYP group, I know they have to film Kingdom and some stuff happened, but it's just weird 👁👄👁
Stray Kids always do what they think its better for theirselves! They were busy promoting their japonese album in november and between december/january they were focusing in end year awards and their performances in those shows! Since february till now they have been dealing with a member in a hiatus and Kingdom which are both really stressful! So its not that weird they aren't having a comeback in my opinion! I think they are probably waiting till lovestay Boy comes back to have a comeback! Since i don't see them coming back without ot8 🙃

There is tons of older people in kpop community...or well, at least in the fandoms I am in (and I am one of the older people too...or even ancient apparently according to some edgy tween twit stans). But I guess it depends a lot on groups you stan but BTS have tons of older fans and of course 2nd and (other) 3rd gen groups. I don't know about the new groups though because I am not in the fandoms...honestly, the "youngest" group I actively stan is Astro and they have debuted i 2016.
If B.A.P makes a comeback in the future i will lose my mind. I will buy their album even if it's in a trash bag bc i know their songs will be good. I guess I'm lucky i'm not collecting photocards i just keep one or two i find really cute smetimes, but i'm so WEAK for the photobooks lol

Finding this video kinda late but I just wanted to comment on your mention of not a lot of older people that are into K-pop. I'm a 44-year-old male. My 23-year-old daughter got me into k-pop. I'm a music lover by nature and was looking for other music to get into. So, there's at least one male in his forties that loves k-pop! BTW I love watching your videos. It helps me determine what I want to buy next.
