There’s real MAGA energy in that exchange
"Was a time I was scared of you. Was a time I'd pissed myself having a gun pointed at my head. You know what I feel right now? Not a god damned thing."
I can't even say how bad-ass that is.
Jara Herzig BJ's the first Doomguy
Jára Herzig
And the acting was kickass too.
Jára Herzig BJ (Odd name by the way) is the most badass character ever
his name is William Joseph Blazkowicz but when he was young everybody called him billy
4:10 ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
You slash his arm off and he doesn't even scream in pain. He must really have no feelings.
adrenaline
Clearly cuz all he cared about was himself
heinous bodily injuries frequently don't register immediate pain. Most people who get shot don't feel it
It’s called shock
neurons have nothing to do with mental feelings
I love that the devs knew everyone was going to hate BJ's father, and they wouldn't let the game end without you getting a chance to kill him.
Why didn't they include an option to destroy the whole team at the end though? I thought they knew that everyone was going to hate the good guys as much as the bad guys.
What's wrong with the good guys?
I thought they were all well done characters.
Herbivore The Carnivore I never played the game but just watched the childhood cutscenes then this... could of had more fun, disappointing
I don’t like the fact they only used him for shock value. They could have made it more emotional. Like that scene where he goes into the basement with BJ to make him face his fears, he actually tried to be a good father, but he got lost to hatred in the end
Herbivore The Carnivore gotta thank Bethesda and Machinegames for that
They're so magical
in a game filled with nazis, this dude manages to be the most evil character in the game
he's also a nazi tho. Like, ideologicaly, he's just another nazi

As bad as he is, you're downplaying how bad can neo-nazis be, including the ones alive today. There are more than you think
@@crishealingvtuber8626 yeah i guess i made that comment because this guy personally affected the main character in such a visceral way
but yeah, real life nazis are trash of the highest order
He's racist, He's sexist, He killed his dog, He abused his son, He sold out his wife to the Nazis, this scene was definitely one of the best in the game.
how to avenge your mom and your dog
Glad he got what he deserved. Just wished our Terror Billy used all of his weapons on him.
@Straight White Male are you talking about the father?
@Straight White Male oh shut your dumbass up you know for a fact he wasn't good
This was my favorite scene in any campaign I’ve ever played. The rage I felt when he said “like I wasn’t some piece of DOG shit stuck on your shoe” fucking AWESOME.
*“You know what I feel now? Not a goddamn thing.”*
I feel
dead inside vibes. tbh given his whole situation and where he was (his childhood home, reliving memories, the things his father was saying to him), he may well have felt completely numb to the whole thing. like he didn’t care if he lived or died. you could actually hear it in his voice, the way he says “not a goddamned thing”.
Know what I feel now?
.... Recoil.
@@somerandomassguyontheinter2869 of course he felt numb to it and didn't care of he died. He was dying anyway. Only figured he had a week left to live.
And the worst part is that, he sounded really dead inside..
One of the best cutscenes of the generation.
True
That part of the game I really enjoyed, BJ is just this busted up person held together by string... ruining his relationships and being depressed. It was really cool I though because after all that fighting he never expected to come back.

Damn Dr. Phil is a pretty good voice actor
hydropolitics wait is he really?
No, it's Glenn Morshower.
hydropolitics Bout to start a war buddy.
LotsaLOUD lmao
Dang, he did this? Hope he wins at GDC.
It's possible Rip was jealous of his son, BJ. Rip tried to be a successful businessman, and even used his wife's family fortune to fund it. He failed at this and would never listen to her or anyone's advice when they insisted that he stop. Rip instead blamed everything on his family.
As for BJ, he grew up and joined the military; BJ rose up to the rank of captain and served for his entire adult life and received much recognition for it. However Bj did it not for fame or profit, but for the safety of society.
Curse of jealously .
Well it ain't like he was gonna be proud of his son for doing what's right, rip taught him the reality of life that no one will be successful or no one will be there to fight his battles but BJ had gone through all of that and still kept pushing foward to end the Nazis.
The humble ones are always the strongest humans it's conviction that wins in the end not might
Not just his family, Rip irrationally blamed his rotten lock on minorities as well. Saying they were stealing jobs from "honest hard-working white men."
@@mattgerrish908 I never got how that thought is in other people. Like how are they stealing the jobs? Are they (minorities) forcing the owners (whites) to hire them? Like... aye yah. Some people's kids.
the story line about Billy and his father was surprisingly really fucking good and i loved every moment about his past.
Agreed, if there comes a wolfenstein III then they should do this again.
But yet so sad
My blood boiled every time I saw a Rip Blazkowicz on screen because I hated that son-of-a-bitch with every fiber of my being, I'm not saying the story wasn't good writing. I'm just saying that I really hated BJ's father.
No 1st scene was brutal
@@themightyappleking there is going to be a Wolfenstein III, I read in Game Informer a year or two ago that Wolfenstein Youngblood was going to be the prequel to Wolfenstein III
This cutscene is for all those sons out there who hate their dads. Found it a very powerful moment in the game.
I felt this scene to my core
One line BJ speaks in this level sticks with me.
“I’ll be rotting away in the ground, and _still_ a better daddy than you”
I’m getting that tattooed on my arm.
A similar emotionally gripping storyline giving an emotional catharsis for sons and daughters who hate their abusive mother, however is unthinkable, of course, because that would be 'misogynistic' and 'unfairly stereotyping women' and 'we must understand women and be sensitive to their situation'.
You are all participating in the same one-sided, hypocritical game.

Would have been better if it had no letterbox for just that one scene at least
That lagspike was crazy when it came out
But they slowly fixed it with updates
The way B.J was acting so calm throughout his father's speech is just amazing! Listening to the music building up, I expected him to freak out and attack the old man, or at least shout him down, like they do in pretty much every other scene like this.
Would've been even better if he stayed calm through out Rip's speech then let all the built-up anger out on Rip, beating Rip worse than Rip beat him and his mom (i apologize for this sounding like shit by the way)
“Everything you touch turns to shit!”
It rips your heart out hearing that from a parent. I had to shut this game off a couple of times because Rip’s actor nailed the verbal abusive parent to well and it brought up alot of feelings up.

Yep. It's equivalent to, "I don't give a shit anymore. So, fuck you!" towards the POS dad
BJ is pretty gay tho.. Even his name is gay.
The only good memory he had with his dad, was when they went down into the basement with shotguns and looked for ghosts. That one, single, decent memory. The rest was pure abuse.

One of the most badass lines in video game history!
And also
BJ: "Sorry about your legs"
C: "Don't be. I've learned how to fly"
His dad looked pretty scared
Jesus, rip is such a hypocrite and a poor excuse of a father. Even Darth Vader was a better dad, and HE redeemed himself in the end of "return of the Jedi".
Difference between Rip and Vader is also when Vader found out about Luke, he tried to get him to join him and they’d rule the galaxy together. At least Vader actually cared about his son, Rip didn’t
Rip just didn’t care about anything but his business, and when it went belly up, he just went full out monster. Blamed it all on his family.
Not only did he not care about his son and thought him a financial nuisance, he was incredibly racist.
I think even Tywin Lannister was a better father than Rip.
He is so bad his name doesn't deserve to start with a capital letter.
Vader, for all his faults, loved his family. That’s the reason he fell to the dark side in the first place. I think he would despise Rip almost as much as BJ does.
A word of wisdom from a mercenary pirate lord.
'He may be father. But he's not your daddy.'
Who became BJ's daddy?
-A Blue man with a mohawk whistling to make his arrow fly.
This man was weak. Im studying a 3 year course in Psychology and at the end of it Ill only *begin* to comprehend how weak BJ's father was.
Narcissism, paranoia, delusion, all packed in a nice little dystonic bundle. I pity him the way you'd pity a rat in a trap. You sure feel sorry, but it was his own fault he got stuck in the first place.
they run your life
dont compare this asshole to a rat, the rat does better in life than this fucking asshole
@@adas3497 EXACTLY!! this shitprick doesn´t deserve ANY pity!! the only thing that this monster evokes is deep hatred, revulsion, outrage and revengeful desire to SLOWLY CRUSH AND WRING HIS LEGS (OUT OF HIS BODY), ARMS AND FINALLY NECK !! I would make him suffer thoroughly!! For punishment to have a meaning, it must last LOOOOOONG!!
That's one hell of a way to describe someone with no sense of self realization who gets caught...
...I like that
Also, if you read through the notes in the game, it turns out Rip (BJ's dad) was a rip-off / con artist, and his business partners walked away from him. He them ratted on his previous business partners to the Nazis, and got them killed. He was a real piece of shit.
Best part about this game after this scene is how BJ doesn’t even show any remorse or mention it at all after it’s happened. He just sees his dad as another Nazi asshole he’s killed.
Which is incredibly interesting considering right before he got there he had both nuked a Nazi stronghold AND he also showed mercy to a Nazi soldier when he took his gun and keys to his cycle and let him make a run for it rather than just axing him. It means that BJ knows when to show mercy and when not to.
@Itz_Thermite in youngblood there is a letter about that guy, he survived but got a trauma and years later he ended his life in Paris.

Now here's some damn attention to detail!
They actually made two versions of this cutscene for the game, the ONLY difference is that Rip either does or doesn't have the scar on his cheek from when you hit him with the vase at the beginning of the game!
wow jesus never noticed that they really did care about the game they were making
The fact that they showed up one good memory in the basement, just before we face him is just brilliant.
It gets to show the way a kid grows appreciation for their father, no matter what, and it makes us think he might have been actually not that bad.
They he destroys our expectations in the next scene.

well now I understand why his father's name is Rip Blazkowicz
The way he says "Daddy, I'm your son" kinda ripped me to shreds.
Yeah that hurt me alot because of how my dad treated me.
He said that is because I'm your son, don't make me kill you
BJ was really trying one last attempt to see if there was any semblance of humanity left in Rip, any sign that he was no monster but in the end, Rip was like the rest of the Nazis, one of the worst of the worst amongst them

If Hollywood is going to try and make another video-game movie, it should be Wolfenstein. Also, they need to recreate this scene word for word.
Brandon Smith I am not saying they should make more video game movies, but if they do, this scene would look awesome on the big screen.

Fathers are to love unconditionally and without question or hesitation, no matter how masculine or feminine their children are, no matter what they do or don't accomplish in life, no matter what makes them different form others. They never make their children feel worthless or like they want to commit suicide because they can't feel any happiness for a single millisecond with them around. he was a traitorous, racist, ruthless, abomination of a man and a worthless excuse of a husband and father.
When he said daddy I'm your son. I cried. He said daddy like a kid. 😢
In a way, BJ was trying in some way to appeal to the humanity in his father but as it turned out Rip was a monster inside and out and no one, not even his own son would appeal to his humanity
@@Dukesparrow1999 He didn’t have any humanity to speak of. He was a selfish greedy bastard looking to profit off of the misery of others, and he got what he deserved, in the end. I wasn’t sure about this game when it came out, but after playing it up to this part, I gave it a solid 10/10.
I was actually hoping BJ would repay a few of the favors his father gave to him when he was a kid.
I only counted one... that thing with going into the basement with him.
Other then that it was constant physical and mental abuse.
BJ's better than that. And before you say anything, all those nazi soldiers you kill were part of the SS, the Nazi division that's responsible for all the most heinous war crimes. They all deserve to die.
Me too, especially after those lines at 4:10

Honestly one of the best parts of the new wolfenstein games, really interigates how little difference there is between the nazis and how america was at the time, and still is to some extent.
A few of my closest friends have parents like Rip. I've... well. I've offered to pay for plane tickets more than once.
I absolutely love the cutscenes in the wolfenstein series. They actually tried with the facial animations and ayed out a really cool story. i still need to fnish watching a playthrough
Wolfenstein one of the new FPS that worth your money (usually)
Have you played it for yourself yet!? Currently replaying again
It's like a wet dream for anyone who had abusive parents.
Rip is a horrible human being. Horrible excuse for a man, a husband, a father, and a friend. He blamed all his failures and unprincipled savagery on other people. He schemed and caused so much treachery yet he believes he's absolutely right and that everyone was against him. Someone who refuses to see the terrible errors of his ways is a true monster.
You are very wise right there you are very wise
I love how BJ literally dis-arms everyone importantly that he’s about to kill
If you think about it, it's not even really killing him. BJ is just sending his father back where he came from - to Hell.
Terror Billy's absolute joy at finding his mother's ring intact makes this whole scene.
I can’t help but notice how calm and quiet Blazkowicz was right up until things got violent. He didn’t shout back at Rip, he didn’t argue back with his agreement with the Nazi regime, he didn’t react to Rip blaming him for his own abuse, he even tried to reason with him to put the gun down, even after learning his mother’s fate. I think after fighting the Nazis for most of his adult life, Blazkowicz had long since moved on from his traumatic past and decided that what Rip did to him no longer mattered. He barely even looks at his father unless it’s his turn to speak. The monster that haunted his nightmares doesn’t scare him anymore. He even looks somewhat smug when Rip points the gun at him, that’s how little power he now had over him.
@dsfds-bi7oz Probably because of just that. It's not brand new these days, and plenty of other games have come out since this one did. It's still as good as it was then, there's just not all that much to talk about now, not much to discuss that hasn't already been discussed.
It's probably why I'm always so confused about the concepts of games 'dying,' simply because people stop playing them all day and night, especially single player games like this one or Doom Eternal. They hadn't changed or gotten worse, they simply weren't the current trend. They left the spotlight and found a nice cozy spot in the collection.

I had a similar experience to this thought no exaggerated circumstances.
He was my biggest bully. The one who put fear into me, talked down to me, yelled and beat me, got in my face and kept up that veil of dominance.
I remember one day as he was spitting words in my face, threatening me as he pushed his chest into mine I stood up at eye level and told him.
"do it then. You've been threatening me for years. Would that make you feel better? Would you finally feel like the bigger person? Because nothing you can do to me will last forever. But it will be something you'll answer for one day."

BJ: Christian my ass! If there’s anything this world has become, it’s anything but Christian!

BJ: Was selling Momma out fine by God? If you ask me, God has forsaken you for that!
"You know what I feel right now, not a Goddamn thing."...EPICCC
You know what the sad part is? People like BJ's dad exist everywhere in the world and to this very day and I mean like straight up shitty father's who do what he did to his family and to his pet.
What's even sadder is sometimes the son's wind up inheriting that kinda personality from their father's either through admiration, or to take their frustrations out the same way on someone else...hell possibly even both.
With that thought in my mind, it made it feel so good in this game to see BJ finally give his dad the revenge he deserves....well with the sacrifice of his old body in the process afterwards but hey that was gonna collapse on itself anyway since it was practically killing him from the inside.
Not that I condone a son/daughter murdering ones parents of course but in this game with this specific character, his dad definitely had it coming from his previous actions.
“Run off to the army as soon as you come of age. Broke your mother’s heart.” He says that, as if what he did by selling her out to the Nazi’s wasn’t far worse…

I love this side angle of Rip here. It's like an evil propaganda poster, and it helps that he looks very much like Stalin. It suits how much of an absolute _fuck_ he is
"And raised a boy into a murderer."
Yeah, because strapping your son's arms to a table, put a shotgun to his hands and try to force him to kill his dog because it was protecting him from you had absolutely nothing to do with it.
It's so weird hearing Glen Moreshower's voice for a character that isn't a US Army general
he abused his son, killed his dog, bullied his wife and patronzies BJ by saying he put effort to support him. Fast forward BJ is strong enough to stand up for himself against his father and also knew one day he would have to face the man who hurt him years ago and learn a bad truth about his mother.
“There was a time I was afraid of you”
“A time when I’d have pissed myself, to have a gun put to my head”
“You know what I feel now?”
_”Not a goddamn thing”_
My god how badass can one man be. I see so much of my own father in Rip
Couldn't shoot the dog. Missed on purpose even though it's a video game.
You're not the only one. I do that every time.
"And whats that queer outfit your wearing" 😂😂😂😂
This game... my god, this game... Was SO FUCKING amazing. The cinematics the story the gameplay. All flawless. I laughed, cried and bout shit myself at parts lol. I wish they could make this into a TV series or a movie so more people could appreciate this amazing story.
Now if only this scene had Guts killing his adoptive father with the Dragonslayer sword.
Pretty sure Guts felt guilty about having to kill Gambino, even if he was abused by him.
Gambino sure had it coming, though.
I never want to become like Blazkowiczs' father, I'm glad my dad was not like that.
it's actually saddening how blazkowicz his dad is the most evil character in a game filled with nazis that commited the most brutal crimes
'Christians' are more evil than any nazi in the world
FOR MY MOTHER, MY DOG, BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY MY BLOODLUST FOR REVENGE!
