    Ryan, your commitment to get everything done with that spray insulation was incredible. I just said to hubby I don’t know how you let this stuff roll off you with all the driving back and forth. Thanks for being such a great example to us all.

    I don’t know why but I love watching folks cut and put up wood. I’ve never had a wood stove except when I was a child but I never had to chop or stack wood and always thought I’d sure love to try my hand at it. I know it’s hard work but there’s something peaceful about stacking wood . There’s an artistic look about the final product! Hope to see more wood cutting and stacking!

      It is very satisfying and yes, hard work too 😉 We always have wood chores to do around here, so I’m sure they’ll be plenty.

    I found this video in my feed this morning. Have subscribed and will be binge watching from oldest to newest videos to catch up. I'm 68 and can no longer do the heavy work I used to do, but I'm looking forward to vicariously enjoying your Alaskan adventure!

    That Arctic entry will be appreciated throughout the year. It will help keep the indoor temp more constant, and help keep the mud and dirt outside. Good job!

    That insulation around your foundation is going to help you a lot. The little addition is going to make a big difference in the winter, with the wind not blowing in the house when you open the door. Love you guys 😘.

    Very nice entry. I would suggest three things...a window in the last wall you put up, just for some natural light. A bench on the first wall you put up, with hooks above it for clothes. Nice to be able to sit down to do your boots. And a motion sensing light so you don't step into the dark of night in there, either from the house or from the outside. Nice to to have to fumble around for a light switch.

    Great job, you will be glad you put in the Arctic Entry ! I Don't understand other RUclipsrs who build in cold climates that don't do an Arctic Entry ! Cold weather goes straight into their house when entering front door !

    You really are in the middle of nowhere. 2 hrs from Delta Junction puts you in the middle of nowhere. holy buckets that has to take some planning on your part, or gas. lol. Looks great!!

    Cabinets up High for Storage.
    Benches Down Below for
    Seating, Perhaps with More
    Storage.
    Plenty of Space for
    the Imagination to work.

    A Halloween costume, Tyvek Man!!! Watch him shimmy into the suit, Haha, Ryan has a potty hole just like the 1 piece jammies. Haha, Von, you're doing the best at moving those framed walls. Pick it up and move it, you don't have to kick it and hurt your toe. The dogs are like, Yo mom, dad, it's too noisy out here, let us in the house. We need a doggie door. Memories, Von, don't stand under Ryan and his tools or sheathing. Haha, Great job guys. LOve you Hugs

    The Artic entry came out really nice. We had an Artic entry up in the Upper Peninsula. Now were in Oklahoma, don't need the Artic entry. Were contemplating closing in our back porch for possible extra freezer space or storage. This project is on our long term (not needing done right now). Lord knows we have a list of things needing done now......who doesn't, right! 😊

    Loving the attic entry will make life less messy. Spray foam is the bomb for tight spaces. Also critters dislike chewing through it for some reason we put a brass mesh behind some of it to make sure.

    My wife and I built a 12 X 10 shed out in the back yard and by the time we were done I'm lucky she didn't slit my throat!
    And how does every piece he puts up fit so well?
    Don't forget the quick access gun cabinet behind the door to hold an AR-10 and a 12 Gauge, just in case a posse of bears decide to attack!

    Looks real good Ryan and Von! You are a good team. Never ending job to try to stay warm in the interior. An arctic entry and spray foam will save you some though! Nice job, and thanks so much for sharing. Did you give upon moose? Caribou eats pretty good as well as black bear, but nothing quite as good as moose!     Great video guys. We still need to do insulation on the outside of our old house. It’s a church built in 59 so the insulation sucks. We are hoping to do it next year. The bell-tower entrance is 8x8 and is basically our Arctic entry. We would never live in a house without one. I so glad you have made some great progress at your place. Take care 🌷🇨🇦

    The arctic entry will be nice this winter. Also getting the rim joist spray foamed will make it a lot warmer. Glad you are getting things ready for winter.

    The mud room is looking good, it'll help keep the wintery blows from inside the house. There's alot to say about a Tyvek house, the ppl inside it are busy enjoying life...lol 😂😅 Love what ya'll are doing 😊

    Here in Nordic our doors open out, so wind- and waterproofing much easier, and also locking -and also bonus is not wasting the inside area for opening doors.. And all our out-doors are twin, so plenty good insulating is easy and even soundproofing.

    When did you retire from USCG? I retired out of Juneau in 1985. Lived out in Mendenhall Valley. Really enjoyed my time up there. Enjoyed watching you go fishing with your buddy who lives on the island. Keep up the good work with your homestead and I do hope you get your moose before the eason is over. Sure miss Alaska but Arizona called our name.

    I would have put a window on one of the wall, it could use it,espicially in the summer time to air it out, you could get mold.
