Music students protest budget cuts at the University of Manitoba

In 2014-2015, the University of Manitoba (UM) received a 2.5% increase in its provincial operating grant and it increased undergraduate tuition fees by 2.4%. In spite of those revenue increases, the UM cut the baseline budgets of faculties, schools, colleges and libraries by an average of 1.82%, cuts that had a dramatic effect on academic units and on students. This year, the administration is forecasting further cuts.
