    You can also play the G with your middle, ring and pinky fingers. If you do this, you can place you index finger in the G7 position allowing you to toggle between those two chords by only lifting and lowering one finger.

    I find the second way much easier. But I've been forcing myself to do the traditional way because i thought it was wrong...
    My question is... in long term, will it affect me if I keep doing it on the second way? is it better to learn the traditional?

      I have students who have been doing the 2nd way for years. In many ways - like going to a D or an Em it works better than the traditional way. There is no harm in making your G like that. No long term consequences that I have found. Great question Carolina.

      @@TheUkuleleFooli also have been forcing myself to do the traditional way even though 2nd way is easier for me and it affects my playing, but i will continue the 2nd way since it will not affect me in the long term, thank you

      I'm a Newbie at this. Using the second way it's easier to play Am or F directly after G. Thanks.

    Thanks I’m 75. My fingers don’t like this chord. But I’m getting there. Also small hands. Great video.

      You can do it! Just be patient with yourself. As adults we are so good and so many things, and our brains understand the concept, but it takes time to actually build a nervous system highway to get that information to our fingers. It will come. Thanks for sharing.

    My left index finger is injured, so my chord shaping abilities are limited. I'm making a G the fourth way -- middle finger on the C, ring finger on the A and pinky on the E.

    OMG, I wish I saw your video sooner. Your second method is far easier than the traditional way. Thanks a bunch😎🙏👍

    The short-barred G has some advantages. It's easy to transition from the G to Em: simply add the ring finger on 4th fret of string 3 to create Em without removing the G. That way, you can quickly switch back and forth between G and Em. Em is the relative minor (chord "vi") of G, so it comes up in lots of song that have the I vi IV V chord progression in key of G. Second advantage: it's quick and easy to transition to and from the barred D7 simply by extending or retracting the index finger and moving one finger from string 2 of the G to string 1 of the D7. Lots of songs move between G and D7.

      Great suggestions. G to ‘Em and D7 provide extra challenges to beginners.

    For anyone still struggling to play the G chord, bed you index and middle finger inside and bend your ring finger outside!

    Hey... Why does g chord sound bad even it is in correct position

    • @TheUkuleleFool
      @TheUkuleleFool  Год назад +1

      2 potential problems. Problem 1) Your ring or middle finger is not on the tippy top of the finger, and it is touching other strings, making them not ring out. 2) you aren't making good enough contact with the strings and the frets, and the sound isn't clear.

    Sux... this stupid chord is impossible to play, so I'm giving up and I quit

      Oh no! You can do it. Start out by doing a G7 first, and doing songs with just C and G7. Here's my playlist for brand new players I have a bonus video in the play list that tackles the G7 chord one finger at a time. ruclips.net/p/PLxPthNJp8Bn1qfh80MQ0T-02dWLMZap0w The ukulele community is like no other.
