- In this episode I take a look at the brand new performance controller from Doepfer. It’s a rather large Eurorack joystick that protrudes from the rack in a rather proud manner!

You, sir, are a legend!

I know I am kind of off topic but does anybody know of a good place to watch newly released movies online?
@@jamietristan9528 My earlier comment either got deleted or held because of the url. I don't have a streaming site, but I use "1337x[dot]to" for torrents.
that was fun Gaz. Would great if it could hold position - or then use that position as the center-point of a new X/Y axis...
You could use a sample and hold module for that!
this is one of the funniest eurorack reviews ive seen, loving what you do Gaz
more ways to express is always good, love it!
nicely well reviewed love ya work
The controller on their next module should be a hole you can finger, these companies need to start thinking outside the box.
Considering the lockdowns will be happening for years to come until the agenda of creating a two tier society is complete, it's probably a good idea to start merging sex toys with synthesizers.
@@JackNance22 Word up, so crazy it just might work. New psyop lifestyles FTW.
That woud be awesome
I just got the Planar2 from Intellijel - be interested to compare these.
Whenever I see a synth/rack with a joystick like the VCS3 I think of early Roxy Music... You need to wear a feather boa and get your Eno on next time Gaz... Peace ✌️
Ah, damn. Just missed this.
Cor baby, that's really free!
42:22 "smack my pitch up" :D
Yeah I was thinking that same phrase at the time...haha
Life ain't nothing but pitches and money
Man... I love to experiment with all my modular gear.. I also like to make music with it. ;)
Your braver than I when it comes to euro rack. Respect . It’s definitely not for me anymore. I use it but it’s not the centerpiece for me. Carry on! Peace Christo👽🎶🐕☮️🛸
The button should lock the three voltages - missed a trick there
I 100% agree. I wonder if it could be implemented with a firmware upgrade?
@@GazWilliams I would buy one for each hand then :)
You can use 3 Track & Hold circuits between the joystick and your destination.
As long as you hold the button down and send gate high to the T&H trigger input, the CV will pass to the output.
Let go of the button and the CVs lock to the value you left the button at and will stay there, until you press the button again.
The upside of doing it like this is that you can mult the joystick outputs and keep using them for something else, whilst your T&H holds the "locked" CVs.
I was just doing this with the cheap Doepfer A-148. It has jumpers in the back to set the 2 circuits to S&H or T&H.
@@nectariosm thanks - still though it would be nice if the button locked the voltage so it 'kind of' behaved like a joystick without a spring - i'll give that a try if I go the Doepfer route - still deciding between that and the planar 2.
@@TerekkiTerekki I have a Planar (mk1) and one of the reasons I love it is because it has no springs and stays where I leave it.
But then as I was using the Planar I realized there where times where I wish it sprung back to center when I'd leave it. Especially for times where carefully tuned consonant FM indexes and VCO intervals where involved and I wanted to jump into dissonant mayhem but then quickly come back to consonant tones.
This is why I got the Doepfer Joystick as well.
The Planar has the on/off switch next to the joystick, which effectively "kills" the X/Y CV outs but it only works for Unipolar setting. Still better than nothing.
knee deep in euro.
