A shop to the northwest of me has a 91 ford cargo with one of these but naturally aspirated. About 200k on it, has a new rear end, runs and drives well...but it's been sitting on his lot for the past twelve years. Wish I had the space to work on it...with a turbo and intercooler, different rear end gearing and a small box for storage it would make a great towing vehicle.
I don't understand. how come Ford could build their own diesel engine for their tractors and medium duty trucks but yet they didn't build a smaller I-6 diesel for the F150
I think this engine was only around in the '80s and some of the '90s (we used to have one in a switcher at work). Navistar had a DT-360 engine that probably would have been a perfect fit for the F-150. The V8 option was probably preferred because it was a wider power band. I just like the smoothness of an inline-6.
A DT360 both in size and weight is too much for an F150. The front axle and suspension would never be able to handle the weight. Lengthwise it wouldnt fit without persuasion of the firewall, or a doghouse. The DT360 is an utter beast of an engine. It is so over built it's incredible. Displacement and size is where the similarities end with the 6bt cummins. The DT360 is a wet sleeve engine, while the 6bt cummins is a parent block. Dodge put the 6bt in their 3500 trucks. ford should've put the DT360 in their F250, and F350s. Would've saved them the complete and utter humiliation of the 6.0L Powerchoke. An engine that does good mpg wise(for its size), has more torque than you'd know what to do with, will run till the end of time, and rebuilding/working on one is as simple as it gets. What a waste...............
this isn't exactly a ford engine technically it is a new Holland, it's a tractor engine. ford should have use these in their 350's because these are now consider some of the most reliable ever engines built ( right along with a 5.9, dt 360, dt 466, big cam cummins, 6-110 detroit, sieries 60, C15, e9 mack). depending on model this is can be a 6.6 or a 7.8 litter so thats 170 hp or 240hp 378 ft lbs or 606 ft lbs
@@kylewalker6375 One problem with that: DT360 had been long discontinued by the time the 6.0 PS/VT365 came out, it was only around until '93, I believe, while the 6.0 came out in '05.
Hello, good morning, I am writing to you desperately to ask for your help. I have a truck with an engine identical to that and I have tried various ways to turn it on and I have succeeded, but I managed to turn it on by inducing it. It was through the turbo and by starting it through the starter directly, I have changed it. the fiu disel pump I would like to know if you can give me any recommendations thank you have a good day and sorry if there is something wrongly written is that I am using the google translator
Evening all. Lovely to see and hear all that power. Would you say one could build this onto a 1979 F250 chassis?
Yes but put a DT466 in it, thank me later.
the length may be an issue

It is not generally necessary, but you could put different pistons in it to lower the compression.
sounds perfect!

Nice, how many hp.
Donde puedo encotrar el arbol de levas de un ford 6.6 diesel
What turbo
I want that.
Are u selling the engine
i want a swap my 7.3L powerstroke for a 6.6L .
will fit on my 97 f250.?
Alfredo Jaime why would you swap a 7.3 for a 6.6
The 7.3 is way more powerful than a 6.6 I can tell you this from xp. The 6.6 makes 170 hp max the 7.3 makes over 220
@@anthonyesparza1242 7.3 makes 210/275 hp depending on the year
@@nano-gq9tv I have a 6.6 in a 30000lb service truck, I can tell You for sure that I would out run a Ford F550 weighing 30000lb with a 7.3 in it. lol
My service truck is a SD 550 with a 7.3. I’m not outrunning anything
