Common problem. You lost me at the ingoing and outgoing settings. You need to explain and show exactly how to find these setting for those of us who are tech challenged.

I thought this was common knowledge. So I setup a person's email to use IMAP. He claims he has to delete emails twice. 1 for Outlook (PC), and one for Mobile. What went wrong?

This is crazy . Not your fault of course. But want to go "office space" on my apple devices right now. I can't even select pop or I map with the latest update. But maybe deleting emails 3 times is a good thing. Maybe that's apples innovation at work.
I'm having this problem with my Imac and Macbook Air. When I delete an email on one device I have to re-delete it on the other. The thing is I don't have a pop account. I have IMAP. I checked the settings and see nothing that offers a solution. Any ideas?
Oh my gosh! You are awesome! This totally fixed the exact issue that Apple Support couldn’t help me with. I was so frustrated and now I’m a happy camper. :D
The first indication was when it was said this is simple. Absolute nonsense! He says, "don't get overwhelmed by all this." Really? I don't even know what he's taking about for the most part. Most geeks don't know how to speak to their audience. They do geek-speak to other geeks. Who the hell is going to go through all these steps to fix this extremely annoying situation where when you delete on your computer the email remains on your other devices? I will not go thru all this only to find it didn't work. There needs to be a better way! I'll have to hire out this service because things are never made properly in the first place. That's why high tech stuff only works part time at best!

This is 5 years old. I’m having this problem now with the iPad Pro and iPhone 11. The settings are different. Do you have any updates for newer iPads?
Solution is simply to change all your POP accounts to IMAP accounts. When you delete an email on one device it does it on all devices!
