@jenphelps JEN, ITS ME! i’m the commenter about the patrick ta shadows! i am gagged, this video totally broke the 4th wall for me hahaha💜i can’t believe you not only read my comment but went out and spent some of your bday money on that shadow you didn’t want JUST to help us all get some answers and save our money!!! as a dumb as it is, I was truly stressing about that eyeshadow, i didn’t want to spend $42 but the internet hype was REAL and i was getting lured! Thank you so much for showing it next to the UD and the Moira, i already know and love the moira shadow pots so i can breathe a sigh of relief, the FOMO is leaving the building :) banger video 🤎🤎🤎 you’re my fav youtuber for a reason!

I think one of the big problems with hype and influencer's talking about the "special sparkle" is even if they don't have a monetary incentive for that particular video, they can have a relationship with the brand that even makes them unaware of their own bias, just like when u really like a person, you can sometimes overlook flaws, I think even in people who intend on being honest, their bias may give products more favourable opinions than they deserve, certainly their are influencers that don't care if they scam ppl as long as they get the bag, but I think for the most part, they have good intentions, but lets be honest, can any of us be trusted when it comes to our bias' s lol.

@@DavidGreekas i agree. the influencer i was referencing who made me sit up and even take any interest in these shadows is a youtuber i love and genuinely trust (Amanda Z) and who does not shill products to people. she rarely if ever does sponsorships and certainly never with a makeup brand like patrick ta. she is the queen of evaluating wet look sparkle with a critical eye, so when she is wowed by a shadow it means something. if i’m being really honest when i look at Jen’s swatches, the patrick ta does have a very scattered effect plus a plum base that looks special, but it’s not so above and beyond the others that it’s worth blowing my budget (although it’s the same price as 2 moondust shadows- still no, i won’t even buy those). I do see how Amanda could appreciate these shadows and be excited by them, especially with a youtubers budget, but i needed to hear it from Jen to really ground me in not simply what’s impressive but what has an impressive value compared to other things, for the average person. Different youtubers can be helpful in different ways. But Jen is so down to earth and honest i really do trust her judgement at the end of the day. although seeing is believing, so no regrets on asking for these swatches :):):)

lol 🤭 In my opinion where he went wrong was not the price by itself it’s the fact that he didn’t say why they were that price and just expected his client base to buy it no questions asked lol he made a bold statement about who he wants wearing his products with these eyeshadows and he doesn’t see that price as “expensive” he definitely lives in a different tax bracket and assumes that his clients are the same as him so when the public, who are the actual buyers, asked him why he priced them that way he didn’t understand and then had to make this whole show and tell about the “pearl pigment” being so costly to make but if the pearls were so special and so expensive and what makes them special why is that not part of the advertising? Nothing any where in the first promo was there mention of the pearls and it wasn’t until the backlash that he brought it up 🤷🏻‍♀️ anyway that’s my 2 cents on the matter.

I do wear brown mascara and tight line my upper lash line with brown. I just gotta venture more into my lid. I’m trying, I have the Mario neutrals and some Laura Geller brown palettes. Like I said, I think I just need to figure out how to use them more to my advantage. I was scared AF at bronzer but I’ve figured out some that aren’t so orange and actually use it now. I saw your last video about being a more tactful consumer and I hit hard on me, because I was thinking that too. This video made me subscribe to your channel. I loved how you compare things that you already own to the new things that might be worth a try. Thank you for making me more accountable too.

❤ this! This is a great format, Jen! Encourages me to reflect on and use what I ALREADY HAVE - that's so important. I was de-influenced from the Ube powder and reminded that I have a TON of mascara that I need to use up. Many thanks!

I think the new huda powder is more for medium to deep skin tones, from what I’ve seen so far it works well on deeper skin, I’m going to get it as all the other pink powders I’ve tried have been far too pale and ashy

Personally, there is no lip gloss for which I would ever pay 26 dollars. There are too many great drugstore options in every shade imaginable that you can buy for under 10 dollar like those Neutrogena ones I discovered thanks to you (and more recently, the Catrice ones, also thanks to you)! For me, to pay 26 dollars for a lip gloss it would have to do something none of the affordably priced ones did, like deliver super long wear.

I am not regretting or having FOMO about the Patrick Ta shadows esp since I just bought like 6 or 7 of the ones from Moira on Black Friday sale for $3.60 each! I’m so happy with those that they fit that niche for me entirely. I love them! Thank you for showing them on your channel and saving me a boatload of $$ this year! I’m also going to skip on those blushes because I have some similar in color already. This type of video is amazing and super helpful to help me look for these same shades in my own collection because 9 times out of ten I already have it or something similar and I’m happy! Ty ty❤!

Wow, this was great. Oh I'm glad that you tried the pta eyeshadows. As someone who rarely buys hi-end & preaches it from the mountain top, I'm embarrassed to say that I tried a tarte 3pk eyeshadow set 😳 . I was so disappointed-glitter everywhere, even the next day. I love my colourpop shadows. So, we both proved our suspicions.
Thank you for being here for us !

For the Nars lip oil, I think people should just wait until it hits discount stores like TJ Maxx and Marshall's. If you can't wait, find comparable shades from drugstore brands since they'll come out fairly similar if not the same.

I really loved this type of video! Especially when you started looking at all the blushes and lip glosses you had in similar colors! It really helped me to be like, “oh yeah, I have something like that, I don’t need something new. I actually really like -blank item-.”
I have that PT shadow though and I really do love it. There is a color and sparkle difference that isn’t “wow! Most blinding!” (I have plenty of Indy shadows that do that)…but it has an elegance to it. Since I have that, I don’t feel I need the UD ones though. lol.

I would of hesitated on that color. But...since you tried it on. I hope it will look that good on me. I almost bought the Mario lip oil the other day but glad I didn't now. I have also been looking for a new mascara. Thinking about the elf mascara. It looked really nice on you. Have you seen the new elf powder that as come out. They have several that are pink. I like a lot of Huda products but the lilac powder seems gimmicky. Everyone is trying to do something different because there’s so much repetition out there. Actually, I love my much less expensive Moira triple color powder that I’ve used for years. It’s one of the few things I’m loyal to even when something new comes out. Moira’s customer service is excellent, they’re cruelty~free, affordable with a nice range of products~what’s not to love?💘Your content gets better everyday Jen….so enjoyable🙋🏻‍♀️

I’m sure Bella Beaute Bar, Adept, Cosmic Beauty, Fantasy Cosmetica, Nabla, Unearthly, and even Natasha Denona probably all have better shimmers in their palettes, that are much better than Patrick Ta’s ridiculously priced garbage. I couldn’t believe how much that shadow faded on Jen 😮
