adel it’s about how joining in with a group of people just to fit in can be extremely toxic and you will do anything just to please those people. By doing that, you can in turn cut yourself off from the people you truly care about.

I’d love to hear your take on Liability! Upon first listen last year when first listening through Melodrama…I was in tears. I was first surprised that once the first verse ends, she’s just talking about being alone (“but all that a stranger could see, is one girl swaying alone, stroking her cheek”) which like, WOW. And upon hearing how openly honest the song was about feeling like you’re a burden to everyone in your life and just…it hit me HARD. I had such a profound reaction to that song, after previously wondering whether Lorde could really follow up such an incredible album like Pure Heroine. Whew. She’s just incredible.
Hi Cliff I was wondering heard of The Killers not all of their songs are really deep but most of them are really well written and perhaps even deep. Some songs I recommend from them is Read my mind, Spaceman, This River is Wild, Run for Cover, and Bling (Confessions of a King)
I think she saw the picture and wrote a song about the word that she liked (Royals) - in an interview with VH1, she came up with the title of the song while browsing through a copy of National Geographic where George Brett of the Kansas City Royals (who she later met while in Las Vegas) was signing autographs for fans. “ I’d been kind of thinking about writing that song for a while and had been pulling together a couple little lines here and there, and I had this image from the National Geographic of this dude signing baseballs. His shirt said “Royals.” I was like, I really like that word because I’m a big word fetishist. I’ll pick a word and I’ll pin an idea to that." ...If I told my students to flip through a magazine and choose a word that inspires them and write a few lines poetically describing the word it would take my 8th graders about 30 min too.
