Agreed. He doesn’t preach about how every single person is meant for greatness, he just says that you have to do the best that you are physically and mentally able. Not everyone is meant for ‘Greatness’ as most motivational speakers would have you believe, but that’s not a bad thing. Normal people make the world keep spinning.

It’s been 3 years since I watched this. I was unemployed, stuck in my room 24/7, no money, no friends, and very very depressed.
I’m now employed with a stable job, fair pay, almost got enough for a car, I have good close friends now, and I’m working hard at the gym. It started by making my bed everyday. I’m not looking to “change the world” but this immensely shaped my life.
Edit: wow this got a lot of likes, it’s really crazy how some small almost insignificant things can have profound effects on your life. This video for some reason stuck in my head and I just kept going I guess. It wasn’t easy but yeah thank you all for the nice comments 🙏🏾💯

4.Start each day with a task completed
    5. Find someone to help you through life
    6. Respect Everyone

    But if you..
    8.Take risks

Same here, only that I fold up my blanket so that my sheets are exposed. The benefit is more air flow and therefore less smell.
Doing my bed is routine, it comes without thinking so it doesn't fill me with a sense of accomplishment anymore, although it's slightly more convenient to cover myself at nights now.
What I took away from this is speech is that having a routine is a foundation on which you can build on. It can be Making your bed, waking up at a certain time, going to bed at a certain time... This foundation is the required basis for everything you build on top of it and this foundation doesn't get destroyed that easily once established. So even if you fail at less ingrained and harder tasks that day, and your metaphorically your building collapses, you'll still have your foundation to rebuild your building tomorrow.

The Military Training itself doesnt make you a killer, but it prepares you for that. As long as the War isnt fought for Survival or personal freedom (wich is not the case since every war after ww2 that the US fought in), its all just propaganda to make Soldiers believe that they do the right thing. You keep telling yourself that your freedom relies on those brainwashed Soldiers, but theres no proof for that. I would say its even the other way around. You should look at Lybia. The U.S "freed" the state and right now Lybia is the worst its ever been. This is not for your freedom. If you believe it is, you should fight for yourself.

You guys might not understand the role of the military. The US Army is not supposed to make the lives of the people in Lybia or other countries better, and they are not supposed to make them feel safe. The thing is, USA is in such a priviledged position right now, and its citizens too, partly because of it's army. If you are an american, you might take this things for granted, but the thing is, your freedom and your privileges are paid by this brave soldiers.

@Brian Rolff I know how you feel when you say it's an useless chore but ,by doing it,you will also give your bedroom a more pleasant look,as humans we tend to be attracted to an well ordered environment thus assuming that will order comes prosperity and therefore motivation.

I used to be in the army for two years and each day I was making my bed. The only reason that I did it was so I could not get punished by my colonels and lose my one day off per week. Not once did any of my colonels gave me a single reason or motivation to do it other than the feeling of fear or wrath. This Gentleman with capital G, who is thousand miles away and in all probability will never meet taught me more in six minutes than two years in the army. Every single task no matter how small lays the foundation for change and growth. As Lao Tzu famously said "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step". No matter how difficult life is, it will get easier if we take a single step each day. With every step you become a better version of yourself than the one you were yesterday and I cannot think of a better achievement than that. Thank you so much Sir.

Thats a huge goal. I hope it is still noble when you are old enough. The united states military is becoming incredibly illegitimate. Do you research so you don't have moral regrets. General Smedley Butler: War is a racket. IVAW: Iraq veterans against war. What is the military industrial complex? (General President Eisenhower), the CIA with Bin Laden(pics and news articles), ISIS, WikiLeaks, the real reasons we were in vietnam, Korea, Afghanistan, the truth about Mumar Gaddahaffi etc and the list goes on.

Aaron Cabiness I don't get why people are so shocked by big goals. There wouldn't be any SEALs if they were denied of having big goals. The 99% who fail are rarely the kind who dream of becoming since they were kids.

I study so many things. I study the wisdom of the wisest human beings lived on this planet, not only from my country, Greece, but from all over the world, wisdom through the centuries. But this speech is the most wise and strong and powerful speech i ever heard in my 49 years of age. This enlightenment, these wings for the mind the spirit the hart the soul... This MAN... Oh i wish to have him my leader when i was a young Sargent of the special forces many years ago(although i remember with respect my superiors). The only thing i have to say for this MAN is ΕΥΓΕ (a bravo multiplied x100 let's say), the ancient Greek word earned from the highest level human being making something great, an example to respect and follow and place it deep in to your hart and, if one man speak like this, from his hart and experience, deserve that title of honor. The U.S military must be proud having men like him. God bless. Chris from Greece.
