Thank you Fordy for this video. Your comments on the Adios P3 is spot on. I put 300kms on mine, then did the 2023 Comrades Marathon in a time of 8:26 this past Sunday. It works great at all speeds, always comfy and left me able to still walk on the Monday after the race.

I’ve had the pro 3s since February. Love them. Did the Rome marathon in them and they are the shoe which picked me up when the last 10km got really tough. Love the roll on feel you get with them. I recently did the Stockholm marathon in the Puma Deviate Nitro 2 . Nice shoe but I think I will go back to the pro 3s next marathon.

The Adios Pro 3's have been my marathon shoe of choice lately, however Im excited to see what drops in the next few months before fall races!

I think as I started running in adidas 6 years ago I will always have a soft spot for them but the adios pro 3 are just sublime at all distances and realy help with fatigue over half marathon distance- never ran a full Marathon so couldn't advise on it yet.

I totally agree with you. Out of all the Carbon plated shoes I have tried, Metaspeed SKY plus is the less forgiving one. Cause of this I wouldnt race a marathon in them. I definetely prefer Adios Pro 3, Mizuno Pro and Alphafly

Had my first run (Fartlek) with the Adios Pro 3. Absolutely amazing. True Supershoe. Also good for the slow paces (cool down etc).. Did have some strange pains in my sheene but it was just for a few seconds. The crazy angles of the midsole makes you use different muscles. Stryd says that my LLS was 12 which is higher than any other shoe (lie.. I get it in the Alphafly V1 but I can't run in them for any long distance), but today took the Metaspeed Edge plus.. Quite a boring shoe in warmup... But then in near max effort you fly..
To my point.. The heel is NARROW but firm so much more stable then the Vaporfly V2.. I always feel that when gutted the Vaporfly V2 is the only shoe that keeps my feet moving forward even at a snail pace just to get back..
Today I did way to much... Felt dead but still had about 1.5 k back mostly uphill..
The Metaspeed Edge plus did exactly like the Vaporfly V2..
It kept my dead legs moving forward..
I don't know about the Metaspeed sky plus but the Edge plus is quite remarkable.

Huge adidas fan. Sen 9, prime X Strung, and AP3 rotation. I have not run in the ASICS but the edge + had a very nice try on feeling.

I love my Metaspeed Sky+, but the biggest issue with the shoe is that the original Metaspeed Sky is far superior in any way except for sizing.

Totally agree with everything said about these 2 shoes. I also much more prefer Hoka X2 than Metaspeed Sky (I have OG).
For longer runs I'm not sure if I like Mizuno Rebellion Pro rather than Adiós Pro 3 or not. Adiós is more stable, that's for sure, but Mizuno has such a wonderful foam. It's bliss.

Great review, thanks! Did you pick the same size on the ASICS as you had on the Adidas? Or did you size up/down?
I have ASICS today and know my size, and now looking to buy the adios pro 3.

I think that the Metaspeed Edge would be more suited to your running style Fordy, as it’s designed for people who increase speed by increasing cadence, whereas the Sky is for those that increase speed by increasing stride length 👍🏻

I would be inclined to try the Adidas for my next marathon which will be Chester in October. Love the Takumi Sen 9 so starting to really like Adidas. I did Reading HM in the Metaspeed Sky + in a PB of 1.28 but I have a slight sizing issue which has caused the loss of my big toe nail. I am actually a bit scared to run in the MetaSpeed again.

@@gendij I haven’t. Personally, I would want a bit more cushioning as I am 83kg. I will be wearing the Adios Pro 3 for my next FM. Saying that, If you were lighter than me, there is no reason why you couldn’t wear them.

Great one again Boss 👍🏼 I pick Pro3’s over the alpha’s all the time now and although no where near as stable, the Pro2’s are an excellent 5k racer.
When are you expecting the Pro4 and any idea if it will have the sprung upper.

I have the Pro 2, would prefer it over Vaporfly for marathon. But a little worried about its stability when tired. Vaporfly is just dreadful at my marathon pace. If Pro 3 is more stable than Pro 2 it must be very good. Question: Can you do a video about best non plated or cheaper marathon shoe options?

Was thinking about buying both or either of these but got the Saucony pro 3 instead.
Also as I have the Prime X strung and ts8 I really am having trouble getting pro 3 as Prime X strung does longer and ts8 does shorter fast jobs.
I'd like to see adidas pro 3 vs saucony pro 3 comparison though.

I have run and raced in all the shoes and only the alphafly V2 and just Saturday in the Hoka rocket x2 work for me..as a forefoot runner with high arches all the others are too flat without any arch support..all the force of running is on the metatarsals of the foot and the cushioning is pretty much gone before 10mi..the alphafly V2 and now the Hoka have enough arch support to take some of the pressure off the ball of the foot..I haven't tried the strung uppers but the rest of the adios line are the worst uppers I've ever used and the NB fuelcell uppers are the best I've used..I really like a knit stretch upper..1 my favorites was the Nike epic react..if they brought it back with a little more cushioning it would still be my favorite shoe of all I've used..

Would you recommend adapting to an Asics Magic Speed 3 first, and then going to try a MetaSpeed shoes ?
Or that transition is not really necessary, even if the runner is coming from racing shoes from a different brand ?
    Thanks.

Hi Fordy, I have just taken delivery of Saucony pro 3’s after settling on them over adios pro 3 . I’ll be using it for long runs and maybe a few tempo sessions in my next training block in prep for the Perth marathon in October. If I get along with them I’ll choose them over my Alphafly v1’s for race day so they’ll need to be pretty darn good 🤞

Metaspeed Sky+ is a worse shoe than the original Sky I think. My Half PB is still in the original Sky. Marathon PB was in the original Sky but recently went to the Saucony Endorphin Elite which in my opinion is a far superior racing shoe than the Pro 3 which I consider a good training shoe but too soft when running form starts to go. 5k and 10k still in the Alphafly but hope the 10k won't be for much longer (I was only 5 seconds off my 10k PB innthe Sky+ last autumn).
I would like to run a Half in the Mizuno Wave Rebellion Pro and might even consider risking in an autumn Marathon.. Endorphin Elite is my current race shoe of choice though across all distances if I was taking 1st pick.
I would like to try the adidas adios adizero pro 3 though but know what you mean about it being hard to go with a mew shoe when you've found one that works well for you.
Ps. The Sky+ definitely works my calf muscles more and takes longer to recover from running in than most of the other shoes that I favour over them.

Watch your sizing on the mizuno

    • @MarkSmith_Best-Athletics
      @MarkSmith_Best-Athletics Год назад

@@FordyRuns Yeah I know, I sized up 👍 Great shoe but I think that the Saucony Endorphin Elite may be a little quicker for me. I will definitely try racing a Half in the Mizuno but not sure that I am man enough to risk it on a Full Marathon. I do think that there's something in what Mizuno state about the Wave Rebellion Pro being built for Sub 2:30 Marathoners. I would be more inclined to risk it if I was a regular Sub 3 runner rather than a runner looking to go Sub 3:10 for the first time. The Wave Rebellion Pro is great for taking pressure off tired calf muscles but it puts that stress on other areas (upper legs and hips approaching 20 miles I have found). The Endorphin Elite feels comfortable towards the back end of a Marathon for 3+ hour guys. I think that the Elite could be a pretty similar shoe to the adidas adiós adizero Pro 3 but maybe quicker over shorter distances?
