Ah, I wondered why it was going so slow. Didn’t seem that hot. At least it made for heaps of shots!

You must have just missed the Northern Explorer as it was around 5mins ahead of the DFB's going North .
You’re correct! I saw the Northern Explorer cross the excursion train from my car as I was driving to get ahead of it.
@@AotearoaRailI caught both on Dashcam between Onewhai and Rangiriri while sitting in one long queue of traffic at 1st thinking they were motobikes sneaking through the traffic .
