Ya sure, she is human, also is he! there should be clear communication between two lovers, even between 2 good friends. But Wen Nuan refused to disclosed, or comes clean when Zhan asked her the reason for their breaking up years ago. Clearly he is suffering still, to the point of crying, yet Wen Nuan remains closed as a clam. I think she isnt totally honest in her relationship with Zhan.

I really can't understand why is everyone criticizing the guy. Everyone lobes cliche dramas where guys make all sacrifices for girls and show their affection. He has also sacrificed so much. Even after so many years, without her in the picture, his life still revolved around her. Just because he is not giving lovey dovey treatment doesn't mean he is wrong.
I actually agree with you, when she made the decision to come back in his life she should have resolved to come clean about what happened in the past...instead she comes back acting like she's been wronged somehow and looking all weak and vulnerable all the time...it's so annoying

Am I the only person that thinks he is emotionally abusive? I love the way the characters play out but I kind of think he is a douchebag. She is so emotionally unstable and he keeps doing things that make her think he is with yixen. The worst was going to UK not calling her but going out with the other women. Why would she not think he had been messing with her emotionally. And I didn't think his trick to get her back near the end was Romantic at all. What an awful thing to put someone you love through. I still think it is good. It might be the best drama I have ever watched. The characters are fascinating. I just don't get his appeal.
I'm not kidding when I say that I find her emotionally manipulative, as well. Truly. She is subtle and does not communicate well with him. She holds back information he has asked for multiple times i.e. "why did you break up with me seven years ago?" He confessed that it was the lowest time of his life. Does she tell him why? No! She just stands by while he tears up. Seriously! Have some strength and tell him the truth! I mean, how old is she and she can't answer a question? Then, she proceeds to look at him all doey-eyed and lamb-like, making him feel confused and wanting to keep loving her. Unhealthy. Does he mess with her? Definitely. Is she horrible at communication? For sure. Something has got to change, otherwise they should just stop the merry-go-round. On a personal note, I relate somewhat to her, but I still think she needs help. She plays the victim well and causes us the viewers to take her side. We feel for her, as does he. But the poor man can't even kiss her without her acting like he's hurting her. So, what does she really want?! I ask you, the viewers, what does she want? A confession from him? She broke up with him. She owes him an explanation first.

If I am waiting on a person for seven years, centered my life around them even after they had broken up with me ruthlessly without reason, doing everything in my power to get them back and the person someday tells me so casually that they just broke up coz they didn't felt like being with me, I will seriously turn around, walk out and never look back even if I die without them. This is the lowest point any person can reach to.
But then wen nuan left for a reason and she is also very sad because of what she did , she regrets the decision but underestimates herself and blames herself for all the problems,
