It's typical for adults and children to line up along the track during a race. Most don't actually jump onto the track in front of racers on purpose. That looked like something a toddler might do, and you'd need to hold onto them. This kid looked about eight years old. Definitely a parent fail. The runner was even making allowances and making a wide berth when the kid moved right into him.
Supervision is unnecessary when you teach them the basic rules of life.. If you have already taught them to behave respectfully, extra supervision starts to have a negative effect

That child hit the track HARD! When people take their children to events like this where there are certain rules to be followed and the parents don’t keep them in sight and make sure they’re behaving appropriately, they are the ones who are responsible for any injuries to the child. I am just happy that the athlete was able to maintain his lead.

Yes! It was definitely the fault of the parents for not paying attention to what their child was doing. ALWAYS keep your eye on your child or they might not grow up. And that would be a very sad thing. The runner could also have been hurt very badly, and the runners behind him. All because the parents did not pay attention to what their child was doing.
