  • In this video we are attempting to forge a small bearded axe. We used the 'fold-over' method to create this axe. This was our second attempt at forge welding.

    That axe looks pretty slick! I find that if you bevel the edges of the outer layer before welding, you get a smoother transition between layers.
    Just my $0.02

    Dude that's rough and awesome looking! I love it!!!!what did you use for the body?

      I used mild for the body just some plate steel we had laying around the shop. It’s rough for sure but it works!

      @@BurningOakForge that's what I'm talking about a lot of stuff you see on forged in fire is just gimmicky cuz you know what our ancestors would have looked at the ax you just made right there and thought that's a damn fine ax cuz you know what it works. Period!

    What about making an oval grip in the next time? I think It feels a lot better than a round one.
