This relates to school bullying in that Will felt like he was being bullied by Chris because Chris was making fun of and insulting his loved ones. He felt like Chris was being a bully. So Will felt like he had to "stand up for himself" and "fight back", so he "punched the bully in the nose" so to speak. But now, the whole world sees Will as the big bad bully who acted like a total jerk. Now the whole world is against Will and everyone wants to make fun of him even more now and ostracize and harshly criticize him.
This all happened because Will felt like he was the victim, like he was the one who was being bullied by the mean disrespectful bully Chris, so he felt like he had to make a stand and hit the bully. But now Will is seen as one of the biggest jerks and bullies ever. This is the same dynamic that happens to a lot of kids in school, when they're getting joked about and made fun of and they snap and severely escalate things from the verbal into the physical and hit the person who they see as their bully. But almost always that just makes things worse, and like what many people are pointing out what would have been a quick joke by Chris that would quickly be forgotten will now be talked about forever and made a huge issue of. It will really backfire bad now, and everyone will make fun of Will even more now and go against him.
Will saw himself as the victim and lashed out, now the whole world sees him as the villain. So the world will be against him now and punish him, and now he might feel even more like a victim. This is what happens to students in school conflicts who don't handle it the right way. This is why it's so important to keep your cool, because if you don't you will get burned.
Great video Brooks. Amazing work you're doing. I really hope to see you talk with Izzy Kalman in a video again one day. Also, John Leguizamo's answer about this was spot on. If you reached out to him he might really dig the work you do, about helping kids keep their cool when dealing with difficult and stressful situations and not going crazy and making everything worse, turning mountains into mole hills. He's a very cool guy who you might be on the same page with.
Keep up the incredible work. Peace.

I'm like at the middle the joke was kinda bad cuz she didn't shave her hair by choice but due to the sickness you mentioned if it was by her choice she wouldn't be upset about it .
let's assume one of the these , chris knowing that sickness fact or not ,
if smith was offended by it and i could give him that due to my eastern prespective but using your prespective smith could defend his wife by varies way such sueing suing or condeming that act
overall , i don't think chris deserved that (your prespective XD)

We teach kids to reply insult (verbal) with jokes/humour. So situation can be friendlier. But physical is only against physical assault as self defense of course. That’s smart way to solve problem by law in our society. Emotional intelligence will take us further. We learn not to be barbaric society. If words break you, that’s not strength.

If it’s a joke, laugh. Geesh.

@@BrooksGibbs I don't think you are required to give a positive or negative reaction. You don't need to laugh if you don't find it funny. If the joke is still bothering your conscience after some time then it may be important to express your internal conflict to the person that made the joke and let them know how it hurt you and how you would like them to not do it again. This is called being assertive rather than being passive aggressive (laughing yet building internal resentment) or aggressive (slapping in the face). If the person does not respect your feelings and continues to harass you by saying mean jokes then it is best to not associate or react to that person anymore. That person is just immature and not ready for genuine friendship. Wish them best with developing those skills and be open to accept them when they have matured but for now be on your own way.

If you decide to abuse someone because you didn't like what they said about you or someone you care about, do you really think that you're in the right? Or that you did something good? In that case I feel more sorry for you than someone with a bad humor or loose tongue.

you show disapproval, yell back, but you don’t get to smack a person in the face

I think ignore not valid if the bully is a adult.i also don't like will Smith's behaviour.instead of slapping chris will should stand for himself and ask Chris to take back his joke. it's not a good thing to joke about someone's illness.but I know will Smith's wife is a cursed devil.🙃

I don't agree with this psychological evaluation. Put yourself in Will's position. He was defending his wife who is ill, for goodness sakes! Don't be so quick to judge.

You can defend in other ways. He could even keep the “keep my wife’s name out your ****” part
