Take shelter,not selfies 🤣🙄
No doubt. They JUST. CAN'T. STOP. I have seen soooo many videos of idiots DYING taking their last selfies. I just don't understand.....
That was Hampton Inn before the tornado. What did it look like after?
Nahhh bruh.. THEN HOW’D WE HAVE THIS FOOTAGE?!
I'm not sure they understood what exactly was happening or what to do about it. They seemed like they were on holiday and I wouldn't assume they are from somewhere that gets tornados like this. Even if they did, did they know where to go? I know I sure wouldn't know what to do in a earthquake in a foreign country or what to do in case of tidal wave.
@@evil1by1 Earthquake: get away from glass and furniture that could fall on you. Stand in a doorway, don't immediately run outside where there may be falling glass, bricks, balconies or awnings and power lines. The exception is if the shaking goes on for more than 30 seconds and you're pretty sure the building you're in isn't up to modern earthquake resilience standards. The longer the earthquake lasts, the less likely older buildings are to remain standing and in that case it's a judgement call. You could be killed by debris outside of a building or you could be killed inside a collapsed building. It's impossible to say for sure.
If you feel an earthquake while you're on the beach, immediately run inland and up as high as you can get as fast as you can. They say don't bother getting in your car because you could end up stuck behind other vehicles that are all heading the same direction. The tsunami in Indonesia didn't have any warning except that the water was suddenly sucked away from the shore before the first wall of water hit. Some people ran to tall buildings nearby and made it up a couple flights in time and survived. The people who stood around wondering what was going on generally did not survive. There's a video of a guy who walked out where the water had been and it wasn't even ankle deep and he just stood there watching the water until it hit him. Everyone wondered if he had been frozen in fear or if he realized he was too far out to escape and just accepted his fate. Literally seconds matter.
When you hear tornado sirens in OK...consider not standing around by a wall of windows 🤔
@@derbydriverThey surely know now.
@@derbydriver I live in Kansas City and my workplace, a big corporation, was always hiring planeloads of non-English-speakers fresh off the plane and putting them on the top floor with skylights and wide open expanses. I tried to explain the best I could when it was going to be "one of those days" or "one of those nights" what to do if the sirens sounded. Of course the powers that be hadn't said anything to them about tornados and scoffed at me for being concerned that the newbies wouldn't know what to do or where to go.
@@emilybrennan4537 When husband got a consulting job in Nebraska the company gave him an emergency weather radio that worked off a crank (& battery) & a handbook about tornados. We live in area that gets tornados too, but I appreciated the weather radio.
Naw…survival of the fittest (smartest)😏 What’d our boy Roy say? “Ya can’t fix stupid”…so why try.
And ALWAYS have the kids secure!
If the lights start flickering it's time to take this serious
Well, the siren was going off before the lights started flickering. That was the first clue.
@@2436goldenyeah!!!
The moment when the tornado takes out the tornado sirens.
I think thats the actual sound a tornado makes...not sirens
@@bpalm7428 no those are sirens tornadoes do not sound like that
Many tornado sirens in high prone areas have battery backup and/or tied to facilities with generators. This protects against "training" repeated tornadoes from successive storms.
@@bpalm7428 No, the sound of a tornado is like an army of semi trucks hauling down a gravel road. It's a deafening roar.
That sound was the siren. Grew up hearing that EXACT noise every day at noon, because they had to blast the sirens every day to be sure they were working properly. Now they only blast it once a week as a test. Wednesday at noon in my home town, Cordell, for 1 minute exactly, and noon on Fridays for exactly 5 minutes in the town I now live in, Clinton.
The tornado noise doesn't stop until the tornado is gone. The siren likely stopped because the one closest to them was knocked down. My childhood home has one right outside on the corner and it rotates as it sounds.
This particular siren had its wires cut and then it immediately fell to the ground@@jbsimmons54
FYI, do NOT get into a hallway in a building like that during a tornado. If the outer walls are breached, the tornado winds can turn those hallways into wind tunnels.
Very true. I believe it was the Henryville IN tornado, may have been in Alabama though not sure but…
A coach was in the hallway of the school and he said he witnessed a drink machine, full sized, pushed along the entire length of the corridor. Had the school been in operating hours, that hallway would have been packed with children. The machine would have injured and possibly killed many.
I always told my kids idc what the teachers say you go to the bathrooms at the commons area (dead center of their school-I went there, too, so I would know) and if your teachers have a problem I’ll talk to them after the fact.
Having once had the misfortune of being caught in a tornado (f1 thankfully and no loss of life) I want to reiterate that you need to be in the safest spot you can be in when you hear the sirens. I can tell you that once the situation goes from “I wonder if” to “oh shit” you are already out of time to make any decisions above instinct taking over. If you can, already know where you would want to shelter and have a hand crank or battery radio and some bottled water. Try to also get your pets used to sheltering there too so that’s where they default to go when scared. There is no time to strategize once it’s upon you :(
This was a classy tornado.
When I taught school they would put us in the hallway with glass doors on each end! The most unsafe place in the building.
But you do want as many walls between you and the outside.
"Welcome to Oklahoma", as a Native Oklahoman. My thoughts exactly lol. Glad the young people are ok. I see we need to educate people better about tornado safety and where to go, what to do given your situation. There is a tornado protocol for every type of habitation you find yourself in, when the moment of sheer terror strikes!
the hotel should also be more responsible and inform guests
It should be common sense - duck and cover, preferably away from windows.
Sounds like they are from a different country, and are not used to tornadoes. ETA still doesn't excuse the selfie impulse. When facing an unfamiliar danger, the LAST thing that you want to do, is to distract yourself unnecessarily.
Exactly as an Oklahoman ❤
Why does the audio sound like they are speaking “Simlish” (The Sims language), very few words are coherent/recognizable. Does this part of Oklahoma speak a different language?
Not trying to be a clown, just wondering. ❤
If ya ever noticed the construction of one of those highway off-ramp hotels, you’d have seen that the largest and most stable/sturdy part of the building structure are the stairwells, usually constructed of concrete blocks, reinforced by rebar and poured concrete… it is within these enclosed and protected spaces that one should seek out when in need of secure shelter during this type of event
I've spent a couple of tornado warnings in an interior stairwell in my time. Safest place in that particular building.
Yes and usually no objects to fly around like chairs.
Rate ur hampton inn experience.
Housekeeping...needs improvement. Otherwise, a wonderful stay at The Hampton Inn.
Alive after a tornado, I would say that deserves 5 stars.
“Good morning. This is your wake up call.”
-Tornado
if anyone wants to know where this was, it was in Bartlesville, Oklahoma
Yup. Same tornado that struck Barnsdall, OK with some significant damage
Yeah I saw it happening as Max Velocity covered it.
I'm in South Tulsa & he's the reason I didn't freak out that Tulsa would be hit.
Not sure if it was that one but he recently did a just under 12 hour live. Then immediately came back with another 3 1/2 hour live.
If you go over 12 hours RUclips won't archive the footage.
I was also watching Max Velocity live and saw the radar graphics, as he said “Barnsdall you need to take cover,” and later for Bartlesville. That was a very bad evening for those towns. Very tragic in Barnsdall, Oklahoma.
yeah those that cant read the title .
"Welcome to Oklahoma" 😂. Pro Tip: The bathroom is a much better option to hide in. I was talking to a friend in Edmond when this was filmed. Thankfully everything missed her neighborhood.
Lol no us in oklahoma have to go see the tornado 😂
Edmond is hours away from where this happened in Bartlesville...
WELCOME TO OKLAHOMA!!!
For a second there, i thought everybody was heading for the bar.
Same here. but that's mainly for hurricaine wise southerners.
@@user-wi9hv2pb2q We do not go to the bar, we bring the bar to the house! LOL You can not survive a Hurricane, if the washing machine is not full of ice and cold drinks!
Every hotel has a public restroom on the ground floor near the lobby. That's where I would have been.
Lesson here: Take cover! Don’t meander around.
They aren’t from the US and didn’t know what the sirens meant.
Makes me wonder why they were in Oklahoma. Were they visiting a relative?
And if so, what kind of family member wouldn’t warn them about this kind of stuff happening?
If you go to a foreign country, check the weather.
Hell, if you go anywhere, check the weather!
@@spiralrose Traveling the US. There’s an entire news story about these people.
@@spiralrose If they're from a place that doesn't usually get tornado, "potential thunderstorms" means they'll reconsider going hiking, not that they'll check where the nearest tornado shelter is.
Where I live, sirens going off are calling volunteer firefighters in, so that's also not a universal signal.
@@derbydriver they're just typical idiot zoomers
Room service needed. Everywhere😂
So, what about that continental breakfast? 🤣🤣
I'm sure it's out there somewhere
😂😂😂
_"Uhmm... we didn't get to use the room much yesterday. Could we get a refund?"_
Coffee dispensers looked okay near the lobby.
Jordan Peele's character would be lost without it
When your air conditioner is afraid of the tornado and comes inside with you.
No need to keep panning back and forth if you don't record vertically.
I'll never understand why people take videos vertically. You can't see anything!!
@@jimroscoviusYeah it only makes sense if recording yourself talking to the camera for FB or something. That said, I have on occasion inadvertently recorded vertically because the tilt was sufficient to default to vertical recording.
smh these people. if the sirens are going, you are supposed to be _in shelter,_ not milling about as if there's nothing dangerous happening. they're WILDLY lucky nobody was seriously hurt
I did not see very much damage on cars parked on the parking lot.
You are very lucky to experience such a tornado without loss of your items.
Those cars were damaged, just not tossed around.
That's why they call it the suck zone
RIP Phillip Seymour Hoffman
Yeah... it sux when you're in that zone.
Yesss! 😂
Just take cover don’t record
No we need the content
@@Turk_2023 and that is how people die. You really NEED the content? Why? Cause you like looking at their face? Yeah cause I want footage of an event where the idiot is just standing there smiling in to a camera for vanity's sake. Ugh.
Be mindful that if that tornado was that strong it may have destroyed gas lines near/around the building. Be careful staying in a building like that for a prolonged amount of time.
Do only those having lived in the US understand the insane power of these tornados...
Obviously lucky these ones
Tornado footage aids on international TV...
Yes, yes I do. Xenia Ohio 1974!! I’ve lived thru tornados and hurricanes growing up. You won’t catch me anywhere near the mid-west or South this time of year. I have lived in the PNW for the last 30 years, just to avoid tornados! My fears now are floods and fire. It’s a trade off.
@@wally2786Much of Seattle is built on mudflow deposits from the last Rainier eruption… which was just a few hundred years ago.
@@joedellinger9437 that would equal fire.
I know about tornadoes, I've never been in one. I live in California where it is rare we get one and when we almost did get one earlier this year right in my neighborhood everyone was pissed off .
Luckily, it had dissipated a little bit by the time it hit Bartlesville. You can see the trees still have limbs and leaves.
It's all fun and games till a twister hits your hotel.
Ok dang. My daughter and I are headed to the one in Dodge City tomorrow. Hoping for good weather and safe travels.
EF-4 Tornado that travelled 39 miles.
Panic Payne was upset that the Tulsa TV Viewing area received the big one and his area did not.
It was funny to watch him with arms folded and in a passive-aggressive tone of voice.
To wish a tornado upon someone's property is the ultimate cringe.
Lol . . . Panic Payne . . . I’ll never be able to see him again without thinking of this name 😂. And I know exactly those moments when he crosses his arms and gets quiet but grumpy, just leering at the screens with his glasses in his hands. Reminds me of a silver back at the Zoo staring at the teenage gorillas who are rough housing around. . . . Lol Panic Payne 🤣
Yeah it seems they didn't realize what was about to happen.
Tornado done sucked that goofy smirk right off his face. 🤣
I hope everyone was safe.
People just can’t stop recording themselves for one sec.
This was probably an extremely unique moment to him. Probably never heard real emergency sirens that were not a drill.
I am glad this young man and his family is ok!
Glad they're all okay.
Thank you for your video
jesus, get inside an internal bathroom stall if there is no basement. Some people can't be helped.
idiot zoomers
They're not from the area
Wow! Hope everyone is ok.
Nothing says "welcome to the heartland" like a tornado.
Why would anyone want to live in Oklahoma? This stuff happens all the time there
Was everyone alright??
Oklahoma
Where the winds come sweeping down the halls
And the rain comes in sheets
You can even meet
All the 2 by 4's coming through the walls.
Gotta.love Oklahoma in the springtime
Does anyone know what that big metal thing was that was blocking the hallway?
Aircon unit, I think.
Damn that sounded like a mortar round!
0:07 Guy went from "cool, a tornado siren" to "oh crap, a tornado" in the blink of an eye.
The siren is for everybody to run for cover before when the tornado hits.
Was this by Stillwater OK ? Is everybody okay?
What was the EF scale of the tornado ?
EF3
This was the same one that decimated Barnsdall. This hotel actually suffered some of the worst damage in Bartlesville, a far more populated town that really dodged a bullet
They must not be from around here. In Oklahoma, we stand outside to see where it's coming from. 😂
yeah but I bet ya'll don't stand there that long.
I lived in OK training to be a pilot in the 90's. I know there were tornado's every spring, but nothing like what I see happening now. Maybe it's because the population has grown, there's more cities, more infrastructure, but the devastation is horrible!
There's more accumulated atmospheric energy since then. Read "Last Hours of Ancient Sunlight."
Ummmm I'm from Nebraska and folks... you're supposed to be taking shelter, NOT standing there letting Darwin's Theory thin the herd.
Wow 😮
I didn't think I'd ever hear a sound more terrifying than Tornado sirens going off in your area.
Then I watched this video and heard Tornado Sirens dying.
What does him being a student has to do with anything?
Actually, the University of Arkansas used to put freshmen through a tornado safety class, though I have no idea if they still do.
The sound of the siren getting eaten by the tornado is terrifying
I feel for the front desk staff there. That must've been very stressful. The building held up and that's impressive.
I filmed the tornado roar by me about 100 yards east of me from downtown. It sounded like a jet airplane. I filmed the entire event out in my front yard. That had 75K views in 6 days and I'm hard pressed to get 100 views although I didn't film it for views Boy it got it. That motel had boards impaled in the south side where y'all were at. Tore up on Hillcrest too.
It sounded like that woman was yelling "Pikachu, Pikachu". At least they weren't standing outside the front door as those guys in another video were doing.
I'm glad everyone is safe, but why isn't anyone taking shelter?
Did they get a refund?
Insurance companies will be soon pulling out of these regions. When they had to payout for the damage of fires in California, they just left the state,
😂😂😂 no they won't! Tornadoes have ruled Oklahoma since long before the insurance companies got here.
I stayed in a different hotel in Bartlesville about a month before this. Someone asked the manager at the front desk what they should do if there's s tornado. The guy was like, "i don't really know. My boss says people can stay in their rooms. But I'd probably come down to the downstairs hallways." This hotel has four floors. I'll come down to the lobby. 😂
That's horrifying! 🥺
Watching the people walking around afterwards I thought, "that damn monster is still out there going strong, just moved on." 😳😱
I'm glad they were safe and unharmed. Tornados are maybe second to massive wildfires regarding loss of life and structures. How will people continue to live in the midwest if tornados become more frequent and fiercer? An EF5 can demolish anchored stone houses to expose the basements and even penetrate storm shelters.
But they aren't. That's a myth.
Gave him an attitude adjustment pretty dang quick, didn't it?
I've ignored plenty of tornado sirens around here but this isn't Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas or Nebraska. I might actually take notice in one of those four states. Along with a few others.
Definitely not from around these parts. Glad they are safe!
Good gawd!? 😱 Hope you guys are okay?
I wonder if hotels in tornado alley should hand out pamphlets or something lmao
I’m a Oklahoman so I know my tornados. I’ve been in two. One time I was in Kansas for my daughters travel ball. We were in a warning and I ask the front desk where we should go. They had no helpful tips or area where we should go. I just took my kids in the downstairs bathroom and shoved them under the sinks. Luckily nothing came our way. But places like this need a better guide for their guest.
Hampton Inn? Is there no 4 Seasons in Oklahoma? Note to self: Never travel to a state without a 4 Seasons or a Michelin star restaurant.
My wife and I stayed at quote a number of Hamptons Inns , nothing wrong with them .
Yeah not a good idea to be standing around like that when a tornado hits. People... like... get vacuumed right out of their homes lol. I'm surprised how much damage it did farther into the building, considering it's the ground floor and probably at least 3 stories. Maybe from the wind blasting through?
I think that large HVAC unit blasted through an outer wall or door and went down the hall.
@@emilybrennan4537 Holy fried potatoes! Final Destination stuff.
Rip thunderbolt 1000t
It seems like people taking video of a coming tornado are like Marlin and Dory with the Angerfish wanting to touch the light in Finding Nemo. Right? It makes them happy and they can’t resist moving towards it. Even though it’s dangerous.
❤
You’re not from there, are you? Only foreigners would do this during a tornado. 😂
Yep. The locals know to go outside to get better footage! 😂😂
Tornadoes are the worst!
the sirens were just going off? there was no weather warnings on anything? what about the HOtel staff??
Damn the way that tornado took out the siren. Terrifying
Poor dog, he’s stressed out
Welcome to Oklahoma indeed! We okies do it a bit differently here! Stay safe yall!
Can anyone translate what she was yelling?
she was saying " come here" "come here"
People dont realize that they only had seconds to act with only locked doors ALL around them. Its sooo convenient to say what you 'would' have done in the same situation with seconds to act. 🙄
Pro tip. When a tornado hits your hotel, motel, inn, etc, empty the mini bar into your suitcase, and say the tornado did it. Take the coffee maker too if you want.
Don’t overlook the ice bucket and artwork! 😅
And just like that, everything turned into an indie horror game platform
Damn the tornado even blew his hairline back a few inches.
Holy shit
Smart people don’t run around screaming. Smart people take shelter, lay low and stay put.
That is an eerie-ass tornado siren!
Also, how would someone NOT own a concrete lined underground shelter living in this area?
Is there still going to be free breakfast served in the morning?
What the hell they where in the middle of continental breakfast so rude I hate getting disturbed during meal time
Why was this "student" in a hotel?
When the train is coming you don't stand around by the front doors. Yikes.
Ok, not one of you knew what those sirens meant???
Well I hope that night was free! I would of been like im gonna go pass out in my room, where else would you sleep?
looks like the moment after
I agree. I too love meal deals.
Yoo when the siren goes out….😬😨😨
