All tips are very helpful. Thank you! I am travelling three times a year to Istanbul. I've never been robbed. People in Istanbul are very honest in my opinion. By the way: Good places to change money can also be found between Istanbul University and Aksaray (tramway stations). And for sure it makes sense to discover places in Istanbul which are less touristic. Not only because they are less expensive. They are more authentic too. I recommend Balat and the vibrant Kadiköy on Asian side.
Just found out about your channel a couple days ago. I will stop in Istanbul for 4 days before returning to Indonesia. Thank you so much for making these, it helps people to do research before they fly to Turkiye. :)
My second day in Istanbul went bad because I couldn’t get a transport card none of the machines had information in English, so I got a taxi. Then when I tried to go in Hagia Sophia and asked the security where the boat tour was the police said I’d been scammed and once I identified the man who sold me the ticket I was to stressed to go in the mosque. So many mean people.
Thank you for sharing your experience, I’m so sorry that happened to you, we all hope this situation is addressed appropriately by authorities so that visitors can enjoy the city as it should be 🙏
It is highly recommended that don't travel on public transport unless you have very secured place to put your valuables . Pick pocketers are in abundance.
I wouldn’t blow it out of proportion. Travellers to any foreign city should always be aware of pick pocketers, but I’ve never once seen or experienced pick pocketing in many months of being in İstanbul. It’s not like Barcelona.
Thank you sister for sharing with us Ur vlogs on turkey 🇹🇷 is very helpful for tourists who planning their trips to turkey , Lots of love frm Pakistan 🇵🇰
Not only on transportation, but keep an eye on your value when you are in any area. I lost my Istanbulkart yesterday in the museum. Not too much, nearly 9.0 USD(including buying a new card)however,it is a kind reminder.
Dear Bery Instanbul Tips, I love your videos and can't thank you enough. Can I request for a video on supermarkets/hypermarkets around Istanbul? Thank you.
Another tip buy all the goods you want to take home with you in the city. I paid 80 Lira for a Turkish delight gift box in Kadikoy and wanted to buy another at the airport. They wanted 60 Euros for the same thing. Prices for food at the airport 10 times more than in the city
I visited Istanbul last summer, and stayed for one week. I lost 1kg because I walked a lot. I told my friend who lives there and kept feeding me: "Legs triumphed over stomach!"
LOL. Asking about the menu and prices is pointless, because they will just straight up lie to you. These people have no morals or honor. I feel a lot of the things on this list are bareable, but I've traveled to many places and I say this all the time, the one thing that will make or break a place for you, is the people. Turkey was absolutely incredible in almost every other aspect, but the scammers completely ruined my trip and experience. I wish the government and authorities would wake up and realize that this isn't doing their country any good. It's not even the prices that are the issue. I honestly don't mind paying a little more, but I do not appreciate being lied to. I've actually genuinely considered going back to Turkey, as the country has more positive qualities then bad ones, but your stuff about the scammers reminded me why I said I wouldn't. It'll take more then a firm NO, to get these scammers to change their ways.
Hey Brian!! So good to see you here! I really hope you give it a second chance, unfortunately what you say happens and we cannot deny it, however, not all behave this way, maybe if you come again we can explore the city together, I’m sure your perspective on locals could change. Cheers! 🙏🎉
I‘am german and lots of turkish people live here. When I want to buy something from ebay etc I never buy from turks! They always lie about the products they sell. Everyone is aware of this and mostly careful. You will always find honest turkish people but I dont want to give it a try

Hello travelling to Istanbul in a couple of weeks, is the welcome Istanbul card good value for money ? I have compared the prices listed for topkapi palace and they are doubled Just asking if anyone had any experience wit that card
It depends a lot on where and what you eat, is a bit difficult to give an specific answer since prices differ a lot but you can have a full meal for as less as 5 usd and as much as 50 usd per person.
Thank you, Bery❤ I am not on a diet, but I am a gluten free. Is there any chance to buy gluten free bread in Istanbul? Or better bring it with me from home?
My daughter is celiac.l always buy products when abroad, including Istanbul. Lots of gf products in larger supermarkets. Don't forget gf baclava at the one n only place Gulluoglu
I usually avoid tourist traps. So I will probably not visit any of the famous mosques. They are surely very beautiful, but I do not want to waste my precious time waiting in a line. I am immune to scams, because I do not engage at all with locals on a vacation except maybe some smalltalk. We are still in a pandemic. So I can get very angry if someone comes too close to me.
“I usually avoid tourist traps” Do you understand what a tourist trap is? Visiting Istanbul and avoiding the Hagia Sophia or Blue Mosque because standing in a line for a few minutes is a “tourist trap” doesn’t make you clever. “I am immune to scams” Even the healthiest people suffer from the occasional cold. Be vigilant, careful, and aware. Never assume your incapable of being deceived. “We are still in a pandemic” If you believe this then it’s irresponsible of you to travel to and walk around in a city of 15 million people. “I can get very angry if someone comes too close to me” I don’t think you’ve had that problem for quite a while. Cheers!
Turkey country are very beautiful people are very beautiful bird Turkish food eating very very bad totally disagree to increase food all people are non vegetarian the people are always die many and animals for self and this is very long I am very disappointed and I really don't like
Hi! Please also make a clip about the advantages or disadvantages of Istanbul Tourist Pass or Istanbul EPass cards. I've been looking for information about them but I haven't found any blogger to talk openly about them! Thank you!
Thanks for your useful tips Bery :) as Colombians my sister and I traveled to Türkiye last year and nothing bad happened to us, I guess we are experts in security tips, actually we have a good saying here, "no dar papaya", it basically means not to leave your things unattended 😊
Your all videos are very good and informative specially for travelers always. Dear Bery as you know new metro line has been started from both airports in Istanbul i.e Sabiha Gokcen and Istanbul International Airport. Kindly make separate video on how to reach city centers like Sultan Ahmed, Taksim Square, Kadikoy and etc from these airports by new metro line. Thank You. Stay safe. :)

Thanks a lot for these tips! We were many times in Istanbul, luckily never scammed. But, we really should take more attention to Surfshark VPN, we encountered some issues in Jordan and Israel. So, thank you very much again! Hugs from Romania!
My wife and i will be leaving for 3 weeks in turkey on monday morning. Cant wait. Im so excited. Thank you for all the videos and amazing footage and advice.
I have just returned from Istanbul 4 days ago and I can honestly say that it was one of the most overrated destinations I've visited (ignoring the mess from almost everywhere) - but everybody was trying to scam me! In 90% of restaurants and souvenirs shops from the touristic areas the prices weren't displayed and when I had the courage to ask, they told me outrageous prices! 2 times, at the restaurants from non touristic areas I ordered specific plates (kunefe and adana kebab) and I was told they will bring me an improved version for the same price displayed on the menu: of course the final price was slightly bigger and if I wouldn't noticed the final price from the bill, I should have payed more. Therefore I don't plan to visit Istanbul anytime sooner, even though it has a rich history and plenty of nice places to visit
Hi Bery, I'm willing to visit Istanbul next week, I would like to get more information about the pricing of Sim cards or internet in general. Since I'll be visiting the city with my wife, I would like to have a sim card with at least 50Gb of data, please could you tell us the current pricing for tourists ?
A well known chain of an international clothing company on Istiklal street had an offer three pairs of socks for the price of two. I needed socks, went to pay and the sales woman said that the offer was only for members. A load of rubbish of course and most of us know how "3 for 2" offers work. She then tried to make me pay for three pairs at full price, i declined and then she tried for two which I also declined. She was noticeably perturbed when I instead bought only one pair. So many try it in over un Istanbul that it becomes quite funny after a while. Another time, on the same street I paid for a cup of coffee and the guy at the till started to forget how arithmetic works. I don't speak much Turkish but I showed him "the calculation" on my phone. Took him three attempts to get it right. I stood my ground and I boycotted that place ever since. Another time around Haçiosman I tried to buy clothing for my partner and the sales girl said I could pay in Euros. Before a rate had been agreed she had taken my euro note and would not give it back. Then two other sales women and the leather clad manager showed up to jassle me. I called my friend who told them "don't make me come down there and f*** you up..." and eventually I got my euros back. Even smart looking places are dodgy and set up to rinse you as a tourist. Once had my passport stolen at the airport too and got it back. I would imagine that the airport police gave the thief a proper seeing to too. You have to be very mindful in Istanbul, I feel.
You won’t find any “cheap” tour from Istanbul all the way to Cappadocia for sure. However, you can get there on your own, book your flight tickets, hotels yourself, and then book daily tours there.

Agreed, the airport was shocking!
It is even cheaper in Kadiköy than in Eminönü. If possible, do not shop in tourist areas.
