Ha, now I get to bug you on this project. I pushed your Excel data entry into not only inputting data into a master project schedule, but to push that data out to other project documents on the fly. This is great! I really appreciate the expertise used to develop this. But for my simple mind a table as a backlog, some graphs and numbers summarising the kpis/status can work as well! Well done on the tutorial!

This was fantastic :) Thanks for some great inspiration. There was no code for updating the dates - and new tasks didn't get a date and didn't show up in the board until I added the date in the task list. I added an update to the date field in the Task_SaveUpdate() macro ' Kanban.range("J7").value = Now() ' before looping the TaskCols that took care of the problem. :) Best Mette-Marie

First question, I do have a good project Gantt chart, flexible and easy to use. Have you given any thoughts to tying a Kanban Board to a Gantt Schedule. So that when a Project Schedule is done in Gantt, the tasks could be sent to a Kanban board for progress tracking.

@2:24:44 You modifie the "taskcol-1" to "PrevCol" at the left of the "=" but not at the right. And just a little question when you move a task the priority order is not updated. Does a "kanban refresh" at the end of the move card macro can solve that? Thank a lot. Really impressive work by the way.

I think this KanBan board is a wonderful way to view tasks and thank you for creating this training. I'm curious why you wouldn't use a VBA User Form to display the task card details versus integrating into the KanBan board like you have in this example. I think using a User Form would make this process a lot cleaner with potentially easier vba coding.
I used to not like Userforms as much because i wanted them placed in a very specific location when opened. Then i found an easy way to do it so now I would probably be much more likely to add a userform in this. I really like it a lot! Out of all CRMs out there this is the closest to what I really really need for my business. I would like to customize a few things but don't have time to do it myself. For my particular needs I would like the info button on the card to hyperlink to a tab related to that project. In that tab is where all the individual tasks would be made. One or maybe two of the tasks could be selected to reflect on the project card in the board view. Do you do custom work or can I ask about these modifications in your Tuesday livestream?

I want to trigger movement of the file into designated path from the cell. when I take the file hold the mouse and throw it into the cell that will trigger movement of that file into the folder not into the cell Excel. For example file named "pdf 1" that located on the desktop needs to be moved into a folder with specific path. For this you take and drug file into the cell for example A1. A1 could be object it joined cells of a folder with the name of the path on it to make it simple. Let me know if it clarifies anything I can record maybe a small video to RUclips so I can show you exactly what I mean. HI Andrey, you can use the worksheet change event which will trigger on the change of a specific cell. As long as you have the original path of a file and the destination path of a file, you can then move that file from one path to another. Hi, that looks great, i will try to build my own right now, based on your Video, but with some different parts. Do you know a short and efficient vba-way to sort text ascending that's just all in one cell but separated with wordwraps?

have looked true your video on this, then got to this problem 1. added a new member. 2. added a new task with all info added in it. 3. then press on the Sample card on the left side. 4. give error The item with specified name was,t found. 5. If .Shapes(CardName).Left >= .Range("K1").Left Then Then I tried it on the normal one I have downloaded and got the same error.
HI and thanks during the bug, you can hold your mouse over the 'CardName' variable. Tht means that there is not a card with that name available. So then you can determine why there is no name. While the templates work without issue on my machine, every machine and settings is different, and my picture paths are also different. You may want to look at the original data to determine why a card is not being created for this item. Please make sure to watch the entire training video so you understand how to use, customize and work out any issues from these templates. I hope this helps and thanks so much.
Very good tutorial ! How would one (1) add more stages and have the kanban page show the new added stage on refresh e.g. Testing ? (2) The downloaded version seems to have the drag & drop disabled or missing - am I missing something?

Hi, this is wonderful stuff from Randy, really grateful. I'm having the same problem with drag & drop too. May be an issue with grouping? Sometimes when certain shapes are highlighted, it drags but leaves the other shapes behind in the original stage, can't seem to solve it.
@@nonkerdandy991 that's Excel in general. If you click within the group, for instance when you change the text it will move that on its own. You need to make sure that you have the whole group selected before moving.

I have looked at your Kanban and Gantt sheet tutorials. Amazing work! Is it possible to have the kanban board and the Gantt charts both in one spreadsheet? I want to use one team list, one project list, and one task list to generate BOTH a Kanban and a Gantt sheet. My projects are longer term, so I plan by week, not by day. Lastly, my "projects" are all camping trips with fixed end dates and every task is based on the end date... For example, 6 months before the end date, I have a task, four weeks before the end date another task, etc.

@Excel For Freelancers sorry for the mind shortcut, how to activate advanced filter intellisense. That doesn't popup in my VBA, so I'm assuming there is a reference that needs to be activated.

The biggest problem with excel in today's world is,it is too expensive. Plus in free version application like Libra or free or open office your work don't work... Thank you for making excel simple... Can you also make videos for Libra and other offices ,so that we can use your work in free version of office... I don't want to use in pirated version of office... And I don't want to waste my money in expensive MS OFFICE ... I REALLY WISH WPS OR OTHER OFFICES SHOULD COUNTER MICROSOFT OFFICE subscriptions....
Yes certainly you can configure this to use in any industry with unlimited people. People can be grouped in teams and then filtered by those teams instead of individuals or you can sub-categorize them with a drill down feature. I hope this helps and thanks so much.
Hey Randy, this video popped up in my recommendations by chance and, I immediately saw a use for the kanban where I work. So I followed the video and built the tool. Works great and has made me very popular at work! So thank you very much. I will definitely be signing up for your mentorship programme when I have saved the cash to do so. In the meantime though, I have a question regarding the Member Filter buttons. I would like to enhance the Kanban, so that when I click on the name of someone in the Member Filter list, the shape that contains the name that I clicked on, changes colour, so it's easier to see that is has been selected. Is it best to write a separate macro in the Kanban_Macros module that is called from the Member_Filter macro, or write it as another "With" statement within the Member_Filter macro? I think it's the latter, but not sure how to go about that one. Thanks again and I love your content. It's truly fantastic.
HI Skip, great to here there and so glad you enjoyed the training, it will be great to have you in the Mentorship Program. For your request, its a nice idea and certainly possible. Here is how I would do it. For each shape, I would add some additional detail to the name, probably the employee ID, (So this gets added to the name of the shape but does not replace the shape) such as "..... Emp23", when the shapes are first created Then when you select on a name from the drop down list, the ID can be extracted through a formula. The macro has two parts. The firsts Part loops through all of the shapes on the sheet and colors them based on their Priority (I think that is how i colored them originally) The 2nd part loops through all the shapes and colors them based on a matching Employee ID. Instead of recoloring them, consider a large, thick Red Border or something like that so that their original color remains (In that case you would first loop through all of the shapes removing their borders) This is how i would do it. Thanks for the great suggestion. If you have ideas like this, right after the training, I can then add them on our Patreon platform, however the updates are done 6 days after the original training. Hi and thanks so much. Great idea. What i would do is put small navigation tabs before the first and after the last with small triangles in which you can navigate through the staff. First question, I do have a good project Gantt chart, flexible and easy to use. Have you given any thoughts to tying a Kanban Board to a Gantt Schedule. So that when a Project Schedule is done in Gantt, the tasks could be sent to a Kanban board for progress tracking.

You modifie the "taskcol-1" to "PrevCol" at the left of the "=" but not at the right.
And just a little question when you move a task the priority order is not updated. Does a "kanban refresh" at the end of the move card macro can solve that?

I think this KanBan board is a wonderful way to view tasks and thank you for creating this training. I'm curious why you wouldn't use a VBA User Form to display the task card details versus integrating into the KanBan board like you have in this example. I think using a User Form would make this process a lot cleaner with potentially easier vba coding.
I used to not like Userforms as much because i wanted them placed in a very specific location when opened. Then i found an easy way to do it so now I would probably be much more likely to add a userform in this. I would like to customize a few things but don't have time to do it myself.
For my particular needs I would like the info button on the card to hyperlink to a tab related to that project. In that tab is where all the individual tasks would be made. One or maybe two of the tasks could be selected to reflect on the project card in the board view.

I want to trigger movement of the file into designated path from the cell. when I take the file hold the mouse and throw it into the cell that will trigger movement of that file into the folder not into the cell Excel.
For example file named "pdf 1" that located on the desktop needs to be moved into a folder with specific path. For this you take and drug file into the cell for example A1. A1 could be object it joined cells of a folder with the name of the path on it to make it simple. Let me know if it clarifies anything I can record maybe a small video to RUclips so I can show you exactly what I mean. HI Andrey, you can use the worksheet change event which will trigger on the change of a specific cell.
As long as you have the original path of a file and the destination path of a file, you can then move that file from one path to another.

have looked true your video on this, then got to this problem
1. added a new member.
2. added a new task with all info added in it.
3. then press on the Sample card on the left side.
4. give error The item with specified name was,t found.
5. If .Shapes(CardName).Left >= .Range("K1").Left Then
Then I tried it on the normal one I have downloaded and got the same error.
HI and thanks during the bug, you can hold your mouse over the 'CardName' variable. Tht means that there is not a card with that name available. So then you can determine why there is no name. While the templates work without issue on my machine, every machine and settings is different, and my picture paths are also different.
You may want to look at the original data to determine why a card is not being created for this item. Please make sure to watch the entire training video so you understand how to use, customize and work out any issues from these templates. I hope this helps and thanks so much.
Very good tutorial ! How would one (1) add more stages and have the kanban page show the new added stage on refresh e.g. Testing ? (2) The downloaded version seems to have the drag & drop disabled or missing - am I missing something?

Hi, this is wonderful stuff from Randy, really grateful. I'm having the same problem with drag & drop too. May be an issue with grouping? Sometimes when certain shapes are highlighted, it drags but leaves the other shapes behind in the original stage, can't seem to solve it.
@@nonkerdandy991 that's Excel in general. If you click within the group, for instance when you change the text it will move that on its own. You need to make sure that you have the whole group selected before moving.

Its best to have all of your data in a single workbook which will make it faster, otherwise you can specify any workbook within your formula.
I have looked at your Kanban and Gantt sheet tutorials. Amazing work! Is it possible to have the kanban board and the Gantt charts both in one spreadsheet? I want to use one team list, one project list, and one task list to generate BOTH a Kanban and a Gantt sheet. My projects are longer term, so I plan by week, not by day. Lastly, my "projects" are all camping trips with fixed end dates and every task is based on the end date... For example, 6 months before the end date, I have a task, four weeks before the end date another task, etc.

Yes certainly you can configure this to use in any industry with unlimited people. People can be grouped in teams and then filtered by those teams instead of individuals or you can sub-categorize them with a drill down feature. I hope this helps and thanks so much.

Hey Randy, this video popped up in my recommendations by chance and, I immediately saw a use for the kanban where I work. So I followed the video and built the tool. Works great and has made me very popular at work! So thank you very much. I will definitely be signing up for your mentorship programme when I have saved the cash to do so.
In the meantime though, I have a question regarding the Member Filter buttons. I would like to enhance the Kanban, so that when I click on the name of someone in the Member Filter list, the shape that contains the name that I clicked on, changes colour, so it's easier to see that is has been selected.
Is it best to write a separate macro in the Kanban_Macros module that is called from the Member_Filter macro, or write it as another "With" statement within the Member_Filter macro? I think it's the latter, but not sure how to go about that one.

For your request, its a nice idea and certainly possible. Here is how I would do it.
For each shape, I would add some additional detail to the name, probably the employee ID, (So this gets added to the name of the shape but does not replace the shape) such as "..... Emp23", when the shapes are first created
Then when you select on a name from the drop down list, the ID can be extracted through a formula.
The macro has two parts.
The firsts Part loops through all of the shapes on the sheet and colors them based on their Priority (I think that is how i colored them originally)
The 2nd part loops through all the shapes and colors them based on a matching Employee ID. Instead of recoloring them, consider a large, thick Red Border or something like that so that their original color remains (In that case you would first loop through all of the shapes removing their borders)
This is how i would do it. Thanks for the great suggestion. If you have ideas like this, right after the training, I can then add them on our Patreon platform, however the updates are done 6 days after the original training.

Hi and thanks so much. Great idea. What i would do is put small navigation tabs before the first and after the last with small triangles in which you can navigate through the staff. Another way would be to group staff by type and then filter them by a particular type with a drop down list above.
