Clause 505. Dense Bituminous Macadam
The Specification describe the design and Construction procedure for Dense Bituminous Macadam (DBM), as a surface course material. laid on approved Primed surface of Base or sub-base. the thickness of DBM in single layer shall be 50 mm to 100 mm
Material - Coarse Aggregate shall consist of crushed rock, crushed gravel or other Hard material retained on 2.36 mm sieve. The aggregate shall satisfy the requirements specified in MORTH section 500 table 500-8
Filler shall consist of finely divided mineral matter such as rock dust, hydrated lime or cement. the filler shall be graded within the limits indicated in table 500-9

Bitumen used for mix is Viscus grade VG 40 as per IS: 73
RS 1 is used as tack coat material as per IS 8887
rate of spray of tack coat on primed surface before DBM laying is per table 500-5 is 0. 25 kg to 0. 30kg per square meter with the help of specified sprayer distributor with suitable nozzle
Speed of Roller shall be 5km per hour during rolling of mix at site
Rolling should be from edge to center or Lower to higher side.

Dbm laying mein jab lay karte h toh jo longitudinal joint bante h unko kaise overcome kare ya rectify kare ya kya process h ki joint na dikhe
Logitudnal joint ko carefully banana chahiye.ise banate samay vertical cut Kare phir minimum 50mm overlap laying Kare.Rolling kar sabse pahle longitudinal joint ko Compact kar le. workman ship ke liye achhe skilled laying labour hona chahiye. Straight edge ka upyog kar gap ko check kar le. is Tarah aapka longitudinal joint sahi banega
Please share the morth literature...which states that loose thickenss should be 30 percent more than targeted compacted thickness
about loose thickness of DBM it's all depend on trial and error method. MORTH say that Before start DBM laying you first prepare trail patch where you confirm compaction

Sir, under PMGSY Department on ongoing site where we have done wmm and applied Emulsion ss1 but when we do tackcoat and start for 20 mm thick OGPC carpet then the layer of mud sticks to tyre of vehicle, and the only dust remains on surface after that, we dont have provision of dbm and bc we only have to do wmm then prime coat then tackcoat then 20 mm carpet how to do plz reply
After the application of Prime coat SS1 the Primed surface shall be closed for 24 hour and after 24 hour tack coat RS1 you can use before laying of OGPC.
Some are road is very damaged for that can i use BM and for other pre-mix carpet with use of emulsion as tack coat. Further can we apply pre-mix carpet over BM ??
After BM you can use seal coat for better result
BM is best material for potholes filling and BM laying we can use Seal coat
@@nomadprs some portion of roads are in good condition but need resurfacing so can i use 2.5 cm pre-mix carpet item for that...

in our project dust percentage is 45 to 50 percent

For Compacted 100mm Loose thickness 128 to 130mm
