Meeeeeh~! 🐮 After doing some research on this quality's origin, I found out that it comes from an extremely rare French DVD. I'm gonna be on the look out for this rare DVD. :)
@@dreamingdoll During my time with color-correcting these, I was also wondering the same question, and I realized it was in the opening. It said "Candy" and the text was in french. So I did some research and after looking at the info on this DVD, it seems that the French may have 32mm films of the first 46 episodes. (Equal to 4K quality.) I'm not sure where they got it, but I'm assuming it came from a studio that had connections to serializing Candy in France that was licensed by Toei until the 2000s came around. In France, Candy was a hit work. A lot of french toy companies made sold goods for CANDY (by Toei's approval.) so seeing a few tens of these episodes preserved on the internet in their 480p glory is quite surprising, but sadly the DVD was incomplete and only had 46 out of 115 episodes preserved on it. I'm also not sure where the creators of the DVD are, but they have been out of public eye since the start of 2010. Who knows where those 32mm films are now. I hope they will eventually come back and release the rest of the episodes on DVD. I'll literally support them financially if they did have the rest of them. Kineko Video managed to find one 32mm film of a CANDY CANDY episode from Japan, (Since it was a print made before the transfer to TV Asahi, (formerly N E T) I'm assuming it was an episode before 55.) but the people who took care of it left it out right next to a window where it aims the sun which faded the entire print to shreds. twitter.com/kinekovideo/status/1590096494958645248
