Unfortunately, the instructor is wrong from the start. JAR23 aircraft, such as the Twin Otter (DHC-6), do not have a V1 speed. They use a VTOSS (Take Off Safety Speed). JAR25 are required for V1. BTW, I have 5000 hrs on Twin Otters and have just a little knowledge in this area. : )
