.well it was right before the bands with real talent came on the scene. However, in fairness, Mark could belt. Amazing voice. The rest of the band, meh.
Having a huge vocal range is one thing, but having the power behind it is another, he has both, unbelievable voice, it may be the best in the business.
went to junior high and high school with mark and you could not ask for a nicer guy. always a good friend. her name was Cindy Romano and may she rest in peace, she was a great person. may god bless them both.
This Acoustic you Guys Did back then was Amazing and Watching You Now Fly to the Angels Always made me Feel Good and I Think the Bands A Lot from the PAST had A Lot to SAY it was the BEST All of You Great Band's gave a New DIRECTION in Our Society!!! They were the Best of TIMES!!!!❤❤❤❤😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊
Mark´s among my favorite lead singers along with Miljenko Matijevic , Sebastian Bach , David Coverdale and Tony Harnell . The 80´s were a time of pure talent
Bach is a fraud. His voice was the byproduct of all kinds of vocal effects. Anyone can sound like that when you have the vocal effects to extend your range. Being a tenor, it's a stretch for me even to get through the entire song with my voice in tact after belting out that song tone for tone. Not to say that Bach was a scrub, but his vocals are vastly overglorified. Stack him up against the likes of Robert Plant, Ray Gillen, Mark Slaughter, Lou Gramm, and Steve Perry who all did it naturally, and Bach's not even in their league. On vocal talent alone, King Diamond (even if his music is over the top as all hell) is a vastly superior singer with better range than Bach. The fact that Diamond can go from a growling sound to falsetto effortlessly for as long as he has without shredding his vocal chords while Bach can't even hit his own high notes tells you all you need to know.
+ikill4klondikebars All he said was that Bach was one of his favorite vocalists. On that note, tone and phrasing are more important than range, and in those categories it's fairly obvious that Bach pisses rings around King Diamond. Also Diamond sings his highs predominantly in falsetto, Bach uses mixed and head voice. It's two different registers so they're essentially skilled in different ways. I can't imagine Diamond pulling off the vocals in " The Threat" or "I Remember You" in a convincing fashion at all. Merely being able to go higher isn't everything. Very different singers, so that's a mismatch all day.
This song was dedicated to my cousin when she passed in 92…21 years old from debilitating brain cancer that she fought for 5 years and I think of her every time this song plays
JAMES HETFIELD would make fun of MARK SLAUGHTER til his dying day but he could NEVER EVER come remotely close to hitting such a good live vocal to save his life like this guy can;)!!
I'll take acoustic over heavy metal any day now that I'm 55. But let's set the record straight. Hatfield never proclaimed to be a great singer. And Mark Slaughter only wishes he had sold as many albums as Hatfield....you guys must be in your 40s to think the way you are
I was Blessed with the opportunity to see Mark perform this song several years ago at a St. Jude Seminar at the song writers dinner. He was amazing. And a freaking lovely guy as well. All class. I have nothing but crazy respect for him.
I sang in high school with Mark and he was the groups only natural tenor, i was a natural lead voice but teacher encouraged me to sing tenor with Mark so he would not have to be the only one. Mark still has a good voice for getting closer to 50
So you went to Chapparal High School? Mark Dated Sandra Isrow back then. Grew up with Mark. I lived in parkdale he lived in shadow mountain village. Omg I feel famous 😜
Mark Slaughter wrote the song about a girl he had gone to high school with. His high school reunion was coming up and he had always had a crush on this girl. He planned to ask her out. He found out at some point that she had passed away. The song was written for her
Thank you man… as a writer I’d always wondered about who he’d written it for.. I figured he wrote in for his girl that had passed away…. It’s an amazing song with some amazing vocals.
Lost my BEST FRIEND 10 years ago. My brother, I will NEVER FORGET YOU. I will never forget our time! The wound never heals, and time is a curse without you. I miss you bro
I had the wonderful opportunity of hanging with Mark Slaughter in Memphis at a St. Jude event and all I can say is that he is a tremendous human being. A sweet , friendly guy that still has the vocal chops to sell out arenas. God Bless you Mark. You're a class act my friend.
Mark is an amazing musician and a wonderful guy. I had a chance to meet and hang with him at the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis and I can say personally that this man is as genuine a soul as they come. great talent, even better human being.
If you want to feel what music is.....if you want any feeling at all....if you want "next world" . This is it. Nobody else can do this song. Period. Slaughter is by no means my favorite band but this version of this song is absolute. If you've experienced loss, this is a God send if you aren't moved by this, you aren't human.
Truer words have never been spoken! It breaks my heart to know that there may possibly never really good rock songs written again in my life time. I feel sorry for my twins that they won't be able to experience the same magic that I did while growing up and hearing BRILLIANTLY written songs ...
Let's keep rocking my friends and never give up on each other or are would or I kids much love 💓😘 December 74 USA Much love 😽😘 Las Vegas is number 1 much love ❤️😘
Beautiful. I will always associate this song with CJ Snare, the lead singer of Firehouse who sadly left us in April of this year. Slaughter did the band's first demo back in the day and then handed them the American Music Award in 1991. I loved CJ so much and I love Slaughter. God bless you all.
I love the 80s and 90s Rock. I have my grandkids listening to it also . The seven year old loves to sing these songs. now she has a baby brother, she says she going to teach him to be an 80s rocker lol to cuteeee
i really was SAD to hear that Tim Kelly died in a car reck .. , He may have not been a Guitar God , but was a Great Player and a Really Cool Person ... We'll miss you ..
This song goes for my Dear Mother, who lost her fight against cancer the 23rd October of 2011, 2 days before my birthday! I played this Song when I came home after the funeral, I couldn't stop Crying, because this song expresses everything when the person you love the most dies
ive listened to nearly every generation of rockmusic, being a teenager in the mid seventy's and the hard british rockers are the best ive ever heard, and i give everything at least one listen!!!!!!
It sucks that this band faded so quickly. He had amazing vocals. This song is priceless. It brings tears to my eyes for personal reasons. This is music in its purest form 8) From the heart.
one of the best 'Fly" video I've seen! So nice to see that people still remember Tim after 15 years, Mark sounds so amazing, and they have stayed so talented!
awesome song!!! I met Mark Slaufgter in 1988 when he sang for " vinnie vincemt invasion:... he was a cutie and flirted with me. we kissed and he signed his name on my stomach!!! he wanted to to get on the tour bus but i was too young and shy!!! ohhhh i wish i could go back in time and get on that bus!!! lol, bedazz'elle
This was a cool song in 1990 but it takes on a deeper meaning after i buried the love of my life in 1997 i wll be reunited with you again brandy i love you forever and always
This is one of the best acoustic rock songs I have ever heard performed live! These guys have as much gusto in their singing and playing as they do any other performance. Awesome and very inspiring! :)
iTunes should b paying uTube royalties cuz I run into more grt music here like this and say damn, I'd forgotten how good it was then went strait 2 iTunes and re-upped. Just got their whole 1st album again which was one of those magical albums where every song was catchy as hell and it's all new again. Thanx uTube!!
@ 4:30-4:40 the guy just shows how rangy his falsetto truly is. Mark is just freggin amazing when he's on. Not many better at falsetto control. love his voice.
I've always thought Slaughter was under-rated and came along a little late for their genre. Their lead's vocal range is astounding, and their sound emotionally powerful and gripping. Very talented, indeed. Thanks for posting a great video!
I'm not always a big fan of acoustic versions of songs and I still prefer plugged in but this kicks ass...his voice is amazing and the whole delivery was really cool.
This is when music was music and musicians had real talent.

How is this a 12 year old comment.
@@rickchyczewski576 you must be young.
@@GoRose I guess that depends on your age. If you are 60 then I am young. If you are 40 I am not.
@@GoRose BTW, great user name. Could not agree more.

And great control too. I'm not even super into this band per se but Mark is an insane vocalists.
rkwjunior
Yes, plenty of people can hit the high notes, but it's a another thing to do it with power, control, and emotion.
I always saw Mark as the eighties Robert Plant.
RastaSaiyaman but Robert Plant was the 80s Robert Plant
went to junior high and high school with mark and you could not ask for a nicer guy. always a good friend. her name was Cindy Romano and may she rest in peace, she was a great person. may god bless them both.

when he hits those high notes..he dosent even try. it comes to him effortlessly... he is one of rocks greatest singers

His voice is just unparalleled, to anything I've ever heard today. It's just so amazing.
Chris Cornell is so much better than Mark Slaughter's voice. Not that Mark's voice is bad. Too bad he cannot still do it.
Was as if he was doing Zeppelin covers and realized he was better..
The dude from steelheart was awesome too
@@deanmadonia4044and queensryche too
