I'm pinning this to the top. You're 100% right. Sadly it's not an option for a lot of cars as people don't have the right tools but if you can manage it then yes, just take apart the nearest wiring harness.
Does unplugging or cutting the wire also disable the light on the dash? I had hoped that the deactivation part just muted the chime but still presented the light. It’s good to know if someone doesn’t have a seatbelt on.
Just unplugging the connector may not work because the plug itself has a spring wire which shorts (connects both wires) the two wires and lets the module know there is something wrong with the seat belt. In that case what you have to do is unplug the connector then cut the shorting wire in the connector. That's why cutting the seat belt wires works too as shown in this video because when the connector is plugged in and the wires are cut the plugged in connector pushes aside the shorting wire in the connector itself. Basically you want the two wires not touching cut or disconnected via the connector.

Since aftermarket seatbelts don't come with the electrical connection, it's necessary to disable the chime. I can't even get an OEM belt from Ford (dealer says it's discontinued).
I've read the comments and I've watched the video... My seatbelt light is permanently on as well as the seatbelt chime... Also.. The airbag light 💡is on always too.. So all I have to do is snip the wire beside the seatbelt?? Do I need to tape it or anything??

No, I believe the weight sensor is separate. The seatbelt sensor is just a little thing in the female buckle that senses the presence of the male buckle. The weight sensor must be activated for the seatbelt sensor to check. Additionally if you only cut the driver wire there’s nothing to worry about since the driver airbag is always on.
