    There should be a ball in the sight glass that float when there is some liquid. Or a color changing material, or something...

      On the liebert PFH condensers i work on, the recievers have a sight glass with a ball in it. Liebert call for the ball to float to the middle or the top for a proper full charge. Im suprised other manufacturers dont do the same.

    Awesome video Rick! Lucky the line set is exposed most I’ve worked on is in the slab. Those old Hussman condensers that have the receiver on the bottom will have have a pressure relief on the back side of the receiver and will leak a lot being on high side. Keep up the good work brother!

    • @HVACRSurvival
      @HVACRSurvival  7 месяцев назад +2

      That might be where it went then. I was told the condenser fans failed twice. I will be checking for oil at the pop off, I didn't see them.

      @@HVACRSurvival I believe it is a 1/2 or 5/8 flare hard to see sometimes. I have found 2 or 3 when leak detection of cases turn up nothing. Once they start leaking they won’t stop. I’ve capped all mine with a flare cap. Good luck maybe another video.

    You might want to check the compressor,if it is low pressure,because you put a HBP txv,and you might be over feeding the compressor,the extra refrigerant.meat display run at 28 deg.hope that helps.

    • @HVACRSurvival
      @HVACRSurvival  7 месяцев назад +1

      I'm not good at matching the txvs, thats why I had our top guy do it. If it's wrong then I would hope he would of caught it.

  • @MariosACandRefrigeration

    It is hard to charge a unit with r134 to clear glass,when it is cold and the fans do not cycle,sometimes they will not clear,the frost pattern on evap and s/h should be good enough

    • @HVACRSurvival
      @HVACRSurvival  7 месяцев назад

      I was concerned how much I had to add and the flow of the refrigerant looked slow. I will feel better once I remove it and weigh in, then I'll know what the total charge is.

    • @MariosACandRefrigeration
      @MariosACandRefrigeration 7 месяцев назад

      charge it with the head pressure connected,if it is cold you might have to block condenser to bring head pressure up to clear sight glass.@@HVACRSurvival

  • @jayfowler4747
    @jayfowler4747 7 месяцев назад +1

    How do you charge on a job like that? Is it a call out then hourly rate + parts etc,, or do you quote the job up front... i have stopped doing refrigeration due to the high cost of parts and gas and the constant arguments over price, i cant get it through to customers that they may have more than one problem and the price will change.. my favourite one is 'it just needs topping up' or the old ' it needs new gas' ??? Its a difficult field for small or one man companys, especially when the customer wont pay a call out and wants a cast in stone quote over the phone 😂 I think im better sticking to the other catering equipment like ovens and dishwashers, etc...😅

    • @HVACRSurvival
      @HVACRSurvival  7 месяцев назад

      Hourly plus parts unless they want it quoted. Then it’s wherever time I think it will take and the office calculates it out.
