Ciel did lose his twin brother and his parents so there really isn't more to fight for and tbh if he made it out of there without Sebastian he would have nowhere to go so it's a two-way street; He'd be dead either way. So with that being said him choosing the route he chose was out of selfishness and defense, he only did it for himself no one told him to take revenge but he did it for himself I'm glad he did because, in the end, he can finally put an end to the earl by serving the queens last few wishes. If you also look at it from another perspective Ciel only pretended to be "Ciel" and his dad he never really lived a life in his own vessel but at least he enjoyed the run while it lasts. I guess it's pretty sad but at least at first.
