Kali Audio’s IN-8 has been heralded as one of the most accurate powered studio monitors in its price range, and the second-wave version ups the ante with a new amplifier platform, improved transducers, and an upgraded cabinet. The IN-8 V2 uncovers every detail in your mix - it’s brutally honest. Nothing is boosted or attenuated to mask flaws or spice up its sound, so what you hear is what you get.
In addition to a ruler-flat frequency response, the IN-8 V2 exhibits negligible levels of distortion, ample headroom, and impressive low-end extension for an 8-inch speaker. This speaker’s coaxial design boasts directivity that surpasses any non-coaxial speaker, enveloping your entire room in a uniform soundstage. Its low-noise port tube yields clean, punchy bass. And thanks to its boundary compensation EQ, it sounds great in a myriad of environments. The IN-8 V2 includes an integrated Class D power amp, along with balanced XLR and TRS inputs, and an unbalanced RCA input.
At the end of the day, the Kali Audio IN-8 V2 is a studio monitor that you can trust.
The IN-8 V2 offers ultra-transparent sound reproduction, enabling you to hear every detail of your mix. This starts with an exceptionally accurate frequency response. What’s more, this studio monitor employs larger magnets and voice coils than others in its class, resulting in super-accurate low-end response and impressive low-frequency extension.
The IN-8 V2 empowers you to mix with confidence. Once you dial it in on a set of these monitors, it will sound great everywhere.

I sprung for the LP8S. Had I known I would currently be mixing in an apartment? I probably would of stayed with my first impulse of the LP6s. Still? I absolutely love them, and the added low end helps as I currently experiment with standard C and baritone guitar work. Absolutely brilliant monitors for the investment. Congratulations on choosing an excellent pair of monitors!
      Cheers!

I’ve been wanting a pair of the Kali IN’s for a while now. I’ve had the same pair of ELESIS monitors for about 18 years (the ELESIS mk 2 active. They are a bit boomy, and not very detailed). I’ve been upgrading my equipment lately, but it takes time and money to build (plus, justifying these purchases to my wife and myself isn’t always easy). I used to mix and record pretty regularly between 2000, and 2012 (myself and local small time artists), but I have six kids and I had to redirect my energy and money. We are now in a place where I can start getting back into music again.

I was just wondering about the results of this giveaway since this video was released way back in May!
Well, I just received an Email Today (July 14th, 2021) from *PLAP* that I had actually won a pair of these! :-) I never win anything, so it was a shock!
Luckily, I happened to check my "Junk" email folder today because that's where the winning notification email ended up! :-/ I think this is because it was sent from a slightly different email address than the normal *PLAP* notification emails.
So you should all be seeing more info posted very soon as there were a total of 3 pairs being given away.
However *PLAP* might wait a week or so to confirm all of the winners before posting publicly on social media, but I'd imagine that the other winners were also notified today.

Appreciate all you do, I feel like speaker reviews are all the same. Which usually consists of the reviewer owning nicer high end monitors. Feel like a speaker review should consist of a mix that was done on their own set of speakers and then a mix done on the review. Seems like the only way we would get an understanding of how these translate? I know we can always just buy and return but that’s a pretty toxic footprint we need to get out of. Saying all this as i am searching for a proper 8” monitor solution without a sub. Again thank you for the video the continued information you share it’s appreciated more than you know.

I purchased the Kali IN-8 V1 monitors almost a couple years ago. I watched your video on them & I totally agree with you. There's nothing wrong with the original version. They are just as smooth. I was just in Nashville weeks ago with the artist I currently play for & the producer who is producing him is a very well known person (he's produced some major hits). He couldn't believe that the demo of one of the songs (a song that my artist wrote & we the band recorded) was done at a home studio, on live drums (no samples), and mixed thru mid price monitors (Kali IN-8 V.1). He complimented me, by asking "Why wasn't I in Nashville working in a major studio as a recording & mix engineer?" Whether or not he meant it or not, I really appreciated the compliment. And thank to your video on the original Kali IN-8's, I have heard a major difference in my mixes. Prior to the Kali purchase I was mixing thru the JBL LSR4828P monitors. Which also brought my mixing up to a new level until they were stolen back 2019.

Dipstick died of Covid harvesting his last crop, after recovering from a stroke a few months earlier. Just in January. I'll just consider these speakers dipswitches a spiritual sign. 😂😇😇😇😇😇.

I must say that my experience with Kali would have been without problems. My LP-6 sound great, but two different speakers were shipped with broken amps that creates a small distortion noise after just few weeks of light use. This appears to be a common issue with products shipped to Europe. Its an absolute pain in the butt to be exchanging speakers. The speaker that I got as warranty replacement had the same issue. So the Kalis will no go to the home theater and I will get some proper speakers. I believe this is the true cost of affordable speakers: something has to give, there is no free lunch and it is manufacturing quality and durability or some components that are compromised. Next time, I will just buy something like Genelecs.

The PA speakers colored the upper mids and don’t have a great bass response so lately have been mixing mainly with headphones. I have had these speakers for a little while now, but I wasn’t able to listen to them until today (Busy life). My friend and I checked them out and we were blown away. I was expecting them to be good, but I wasn’t expecting them to be that good. I should be getting the Kali sub this coming Monday. I will probably be a sleepless wreck with anticipation until then. lol

I've had the LP8's V2 and was not happy with them, if I had a full mix and an element had a small reverb on i, it totally got lost, how do the IN8 compare in that regard? Anyone?

Currently using Kali LP-8s and an old set of Behringer MS40's. The LP8s are damn good for what they cost. I was on the fence with maybe replacing the MS40s with some Kali IN-5, but i am going to try the Focal ALPHA 50 EVO's as well I think in store if we ever get out of lockdown.

I use Tannoy system 800 1200 and Blue sky Prodesk. For monitoring mixing on headphones Sennheiser HD-590 and Focusrite VRM box. Really want to buy a active Dsp Monitor for room tuning but Genelecs 8341 concetrics are way to expensive so smaller 8330 with a sub maybe is option or another brand without Dsp and use Sonarworks celebration instead. Listend to Kali in 8 today they sound good. The three way system makes a big difference. Compared to the Kali 8 and 6 in-8 have more resolution in the midrange and bit more bottom they sound big and Warm at least in the demo room in musicstore. The hi range on the kali 8 and 6 is a bit more focused compared to the IN-8. Also listend to Dynaudio Lyd 7 they sound really good. Also Listend to Neumann KH 120 they sound good to but compared to Genelec 8330 the Genelec have a more focused sound and different voicing that instantly feels better for mixing. One of the best Monitors i ever heard is Focal twin 6 Be but that was in very good mixing room with great acoustics and the twin 6 was also so fit mounted in the walls. Another Monitor that stod out from the rest were the Barefoot footprint 01 they sound excellent but that was also in mixing room with Great acoustics treatment.

Funny enough I was waiting a while for these to be released, but I ended up going with another tier up (at least in price) to the Dynaudio LYD 48's and they are pretty incredible to me. I've been able to hear a new depth to the detail of reverbs, transients, and my mixes tend to translate very well compared to my previous very entry level system. Well done! I'd love to hear these Kali's one day and see how they compare!

I wish I'd seen this when you released it! I mostly work on a pair of Eve sc305's, and love them! With a pair of M-Audio BX8a Deluxe monitors (which were my second ever set of monitors, and while they may not be the best, I know them extremely well) as my second pair. Everything I've heard about the Kali's makes me want to chuck the M-Audio's for a pair of in8's! Really sad I missed out on the competition. Oh well, probably wouldn't have won anyway 🤷🏽‍♀️

Coming from DT880 cans, I first tried KH120, but to me they were not up to the hype they get. Finally I went oldschool with used 1031a, which I like a lot. Having the reflex openings on the front helps a lot when operating in acoustically suboptimal environments.

Well, that was a little bit painful. I just spent 2k on the Neumann KH80/750 DSP, to replace my iLoud MTM’s - I was very happy with the MTM’s, but there really is no other option than to go on cans when you want to hear what happens with the low end. Seeing your review makes me wonder if I took the wrong decision. Still waiting for the delivery of the Neumann’s, so at least, if I don’t like them, I could send them back and order the Kali’s. :)

Hi Warren, I was going to ask if you would mix differently with the Kali’s but you just answered that question.
I am using a pair of M-Audio BX8’s and love the bottom end in them, but I have been looking for a smaller pair for a different reference. I very nearly bought the SL6’s a year or so ago when we were in lockdown but I’m going to have a look at these in the 5” size. Great video and informative as always. Thanks.
P.S. how is the small budget studio going? I really enjoyed the build and treatment videos.

I've always wondered are they Class D amps for the speakers of Class AB. Seems due to size constraints they would be Class D. One for each driver I believe. But, I wonder about passive 3 way studio monitors ran off a good lass AB amplifier instead if that wouldn't improve things more. I really so far tend to prefer passive or active speakers. But being Tri-Amped instead of using a crossover is a really good way to go I hear. lol These do sound good with decent headroom I think. Balanced, pure very neutral. The bass isn't bad either, but I probably would want a subwoofer because so many people use them today and if you are mixing I think that's important. Yeah, the Kali's probably make some good home speakers too.

@@Producelikeapro very cool. Your statement that the trio 11s aren’t fatiguing after listening all day really spoke to me. I haven’t heard them yet but from the reviews they almost seem to fall between the ATC scm25s and the barefoot micromain45s. Don’t need a sub like the atcs, but less clinical than the barefoots. I wouldn't want to mix, or record, or even listen to music at home on anything less than 3 way speakers. Yes there are some good 2 way speakers, but I'm still not sod except for maybe bookshelf or rear surround speakers. But what speakers are facing me need to be 3 way speakers. Right? Sometimes, sometimes you can find good 4 way speakers if the 4th speaker is a midbass speaker and not a tweeter or "supertweeter" whatever the hell those are. lol. (you can get good tweeters that go up to 40KHz and that's really all you need, just one good tweeter matched to the other speakers.)

With a Sony two track, then a Teac four track, then a Tuscan eight track, the a really old Studer sixteen track, then a twenty four track Studer A80. Now I am just on a MacBook Pro, high spec. I use, a pair of KRK, 6’s plus an original pair if Yamaha NS 10’s, plus an original pair of Auratones from 1980. I can’t afford a decent pair of monitors because of situations beyond my control. I would love a pair of Genlecs.

Great video Warren. Always interested in speaker brands and new models. I have a few sets of great speakers. Genelec 1032a’s, Adams A7x’s, JBL 305ps, and Dynaudio Bm5a mkiii’s. Love all the sets but my Dynaudios are my favorites. I have 3 pairs stored of the Dynaudio Bm5a mk1s, that goes back a while. I love Dynaudio paired with apogee converters. To me thats how a lot of older or new records were meant to sound. They tell the truth. Wonder what you think of the Bm15a’s, which I have never tried but that would be a good shoot out with those 3 way Kali’s.
