The male lion attacking the lioness is a very good sighting, the lioness at 9:00.. the eyes of the lioness, that was wonderful to see. Andy with that hat and sunglasses on is funny to watch 😃
I nearly choked on my drink with your comment Rob of "Well it is obviously a piece of ***" 😂😂😂 Great footage and humour as always! Wow that SUNSET! So jealous you get to have so much fun whilst you work
Thanks Richard. Yeah we got really lucky with our position. I was not expecting action from those well-fed lions. Im not sure what they were fighting about. He went for both of the lionesses.
Excellent footage. As I expected, a very enjoyable series. I shall be in the Kgalagadi for the first time soon and really looking forward to it. I was concerned that perhaps my 200-400 wouldn't be long enough . Whats your view on this?
Thank you! I'm sure you'll have a great time 👍. For many of the animals in the Kgalagadi the 200-400 is a bit wide. On this trip I actually added a 1.4x teleconverter that helped a lot. So with the internal teleconverter I was close to 800mm
Early morning light on the landscape, backlit footage of the lions, jackals calling, it doesn't get much better. It was really beautiful. What a capture! Great footage of 'the tussle', Robert. But really, it was the positioning of the vehicle by the boss :) Having gear at the ready, that's the secret. (Many of our first shots are either overexposed or too dark depending on previous session. We get too excited.)
Thanks Joan. Yeah we got lucky with that shot (or maybe it was Andy's positioning skills like you say 🙂). I was already filming the lionesses when the male entered the frame - was really not expecting that.
Thank you. We are using the VV one. It vignettes slightly on the wide end on the canon 200-400, but on this trip I actually left a 1.4x teleconver on pretty much all the time so that fixed the vignette. No, I have never noticed IR issues on this camera. I do use a variable ND but I try to avoid pushing it too far.
Beautiful sunrise! ☀️ Good camera placement for the sunset. 👏👏👏 So, here’s the setting: it’s early morning; you’re close to and filming lions. Suddenly you need to pee. Do you get out or leave? Inquiring minds want to know.
Thanks. Mmm.. tricky to answer that. Depends on a few things. I have in the past jumped out for a wee when in sight of lions (but on other side of vehicle) 👍

🙂 thanks Smet!
Andy is to laid back. I enjoy thanks for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it ☺️
You two are hilarious, Andy is a scream, a real excitable character...love the vids keep em coming.
I’m not convinced at Andy’s enthusiasm 😂
Wonderful footage as always guys!
🙂 Thanks Peter!

😂 thanks. Glad we could provide you with some amusement
Riverting stuff Rob. Love the footage though. Top class!
🙂 thanks so much Drew.
Great footagewith the angle of sun and dust. No real intent from the male - perhaps the other lioness is in oestrus. Enjoyed the video

Love your vids Rob, hopefully I’ll be back in Africa before the end of the year. Inspired to *try and take some decent footage. 😁
Thanks John. Hope you manage to visit Africa again soon.

Great footage as usually. Do you use red raptor super 35mm 8k or raptor W full frame? Do you use some IR cut filter?

The description says there’s a cabin tour. 😮 Wait, did I miss it?

@@J.Dibble ah sorry. Meant cabin of the vehicle. Bad wording. I will fix it 👍
@@MovingPicturesAfrica Oh! Right! Duh. I even enjoyed the tour of your car. 😁 I admire your organization!
@@MovingPicturesAfrica Thanks. Yes, tricky question. I had been wondering…. 👍😁
