I think to a very large degree the music itself is incidental for those fans. Purple Kiss, on the other hand is full of musical depth and complexity. I think that for many K-Pop fans this is more than they want to invest. I don't mean offence but they want their music simple, spoon-fed, and without much musical complexity. Purple Kiss is not only full of creative harmonies and musical depth but even their concepts and MV's involve very creative imagery. For example the pomegranate that they are eating. This has very complex connection to mythology and also resonates with the theme of the song and even their more deeply held, long-term, concepts. These are things that fans absolutely love about them. This is also why musicians, even ones that have 0 interest in K-Pop also find them compelling. Purple Kiss delivers a Gourmet meal of style and musical complexity while to a very large degree much of the K-Pop world delivers a tv dinner. Many K-Pop fans are perfectly ok with tv dinner and you can't change that but those of us who prefer a more imaginative and delicious meal prefer PK and find them infinitely more satisfying.
