When I first saw this the part where he says "Is this how it's always been for you? You lose your partner then start fighting alone" made me cry. The way 002 is just clawing and stuff was so sad.

The ending left me depressed for days, Zero Tsu and Hiro deserved so much happier ending, but in the end they left this world smilling and fighting for each other... And at first I was afraid that this anime will be just a bunch of teenagers moaning in robots. Man, I could not be more wrong.
When Hiro reaches to Zero Two to calm her. Zero Two thought she finally found her darling from her childhood but to her utter disappointment Hiro came to her as partner indicating his memories didnt return and making a false impression of not being Zero Two's darling. This proves why Zero Two's eyes look so dead even when Hiro reached to her.

For the good ending, if you're re-watching, definitely stop at episode 6. The other episodes are just a downward spiral that leads to a somewhat happy but slightly unsatisfying ending. You'll probably feel this weird emptiness every time you think about the anime for like a day or two.

Y'know, for an Ecchi series, it has some fairly touching scenes in it. Curious to see how they explain the sudden complete reversal of his immune system reaction to syncing with Zero Two though. I hope they don't do something annoyingly cliche and just don't address it at all. "he just magically got better!" won't cut it. We need an explanation for that as an audience. :P I can even think of a few if they're short on ideas that would work.

after seeing the last episode I couldn't stop crying it's a very sad series but I recommend it it's very beautiful I think this anime teaches us that in life you have to cherish your loved one because maybe one day that person won't he will be with you 😢😢😢😢😢😭😭😭

With her entire soul inside Strelitzia Apus, she would live only as long as the machine's power supply held out. So... even if they went back, they weren't going to have any kind of life together. Hiro was close to being consumed by his klaxosaur blood anyway. Dying while they were still themselves was as good of an outcome as they could have hoped for.
