Clinical medicine is different from medical research. Clinicians need to excel in academia as well as in communication skills and in hand skills. Clinicians get paid well, but their jobs are very stressful. If you want to be paid well and enjoy your life, I would not recommend clinical medicine. The medical education after 4 years of university includes 4 years of medical school and 3 to 5 years of residency and 1 to 3 years of fellowship. The cost of medical school is $650,000 which includes the loan and interest. During the residency and the fellowship if you are lucky enough to get into it is around $50,000.
