Wonderful video. Two points as suggestions/corrections: The music in the beginning is a bit loud and Gymnosperms actually arise in the Carboniferous and are quite dominant at the time of the dinosaurs, not just ferns. The Cycads are gymnosperms
Cool video, I learned a lot. You explained very simply and thoroughly and kept my attention throughout the entire process! For whatever it’s worth I liked the classical music
Thank you. You had me at bryophytes. I get so excited when I see a liverwort out in the world, and love trying to explain the dominant roles of gametophytes over saprophytes in the bryophyte life cycle to any nearby friend/coworker. I'm generally tolerated.. edit: I subbed after looking at your other videos- I'm a plant biologist with a minor in chemistry because I became obsessed with writing reaction mechanisms.
Loved this. Others have already made most of the suggestions I have, other than that you need to be a little bit careful not to scratch your lapel mic! It's sensitive so the sound can be quite jarring. Brilliant explanations though with a nice intimate vibe and some great editing and presentation.
That stock footage of Fern Canyon was cool That place is close to where I live Anyways, thank you so much for this video! We are covering this in my General Biology class this week and this is a very helpful explanation Also I love the music and editing 😀
.This is so far off the beaten track for me but I was delighted by the potted history of plants, which I understood in general but my timeline would have been way off. Lovely presentation and super cute presenter🥰
i definitely learned a thing or two. I work outside and I like to constantly look at the little critters and plant life around me when I get a moment. This knowledge just adds a little more dimension to that!
Spend a little time going through the Wikipedia pages for the evolution of early plants and insects. It's crazy and fascinating the things that evolved and died out. You'll also learn about how many mass extinctions there have been. It's... mind bending.
Learning about Bryophytes beats the hell out of watching some stupid sitcom. Thanks PS: My dog is named Jemma, but she is a diploid for sure (no Jemma cups) and not a Bryophyte.
I could not agree more. I've been on a big evolution/ geology/ classification of life kick lately and there's honestly a very small number of worthwhile videos. There's a lot of half-assed work narrated by AI or videos put out by laymen that aren't up to snuff. Trying to find videos made by legit biologists/ geologists and put out by trustworthy producers is not easy.
Not to jinx it, but I'm in the Algorythmo sweet spot when it comes to great educational content like this. Speaking of which, I need to watch Dr Polaris' new video after this one.

this is the liverwort structures only in complex thalloid liverworts, which tend to be different from the most species rich group (Jungermanniopsida). Also the round cups occur only in the genus Marchantia. The sexual structures are called antheridiophores and archegoniophores, and they then contain antheridia and archegonia. The sacks you talk about (pseudoperianth) underneath archegoniophores are actually haploid and belong to the gametophyte generation. Inside of them you have 2n sporophytes, which peaks out at maturity. Bro this is a really rough video accuracy wise with other things too, it would have been great to do some research yourself before talking.
Bro, that was an arrogant, unnecessarily rude want to be know it all thing to say... maybe you should think how and what to say to people before you open your mouth? At least the man is trying to bring this information to people to the bast of his abilities, obviously this isnt a subject that he has studied fully. This is a subject that is complex and for some, not particularly easy to take all in without actually going to school for it. I assume that you are one who did just that, or if not, are one of those very niche type enthusiasts who sleeps with the textbook under your pillow, so you have the full knowledge of the subject. That is great for you, but you really dont need to be a douche about it. Rather, share the information in a way that informs in a positive manner that helps the presenter in the future and makes it so people like me don't want to jack slap your rude ass... i realize being an internet troll is easy and fun to do when you have nothing else to do in your mothers basement, but it only shows how scared and alone you are. If you need attention go upstairs, find your mom, ask for a hug and a cookie, then tell her what you did so she can slap the hell outta you because i can't believe she would rase her child to act in such a way! So, anyway, i hope you have a good day bro!
Can't you get your kids to stop bashing about on the piano while you're making a video? Why do so many people ruin their creations with totally irrelevant and unnecessary, distracting, 'music'?

Really good point! I'll edit in a correction.
Great video. The music, while tasteful, is rather loud and intrusive at times.
Great point, I'll drop the volume significantly in future vids.
More plant & ecology stuff please 😊
This was super cool, thanks for sharing your knowledge on these funky little dudes!
Love this! Thank you for making a video about these amazing organisms. Subbed for more content to educate my brain 😊

Great video clarifying reproduction in mosses. A comparison with fern would have been good.
Coming soon!
I'm glad I was recommended this video by YT. Very interesting!
I have been wondering for years. Thanks for the break down.
Glad you liked it!

Haha, I'm also mostly tolerated.
That was a nice shot of Mitosis happening.

I love this type of videos, just a well researched info dump.
Please make one of algae next :D
I am so happy I was recommended your channel. Just finished this video and I'm off to watch some more! Subscribed :)
Could you reupload this video with the music turned down 80%?
I'll look into it. At the very least, I'll drop the music volume a lot in future videos.

Fern canyon looks amazing! I'll have to check it out on a future California road trip. Thanks for the tip.

Very cool video! Thanks for making it. Looks like ppl are already commenting on the music - sometimes it made me a little drowsy 😴
Wonderful video. Thanks for sharing.
subscribed. keep it up, this is great
Learning about Bryophytes beats the hell out of watching some stupid sitcom.
Thanks
PS: My dog is named Jemma, but she is a diploid for sure (no Jemma cups) and not a Bryophyte.
Wow 😊 Good so informative lecture sir
Please sir continue video on the classes of Bryophytes

This was an amazing video kind of educational stuff I am seeing less and less of on RUclips and that is a shame you definitely need more subscribers!

Awesome video!
Super interesting! Had no idea about the asexual reproduction stuff.
For variation of haploids you need recombination sometime in the diploid stage
I’ve got a granite boulder in my yard that I’ve been trying to grow moss on, but it won’t get started.
thanks mugsy !
just love it, so Gametocytes are haployds.... the diploid form is short lived inside the sporophyte...???
You've got it! Kind of the opposite of humans in some ways.

I have a feeling he was saying _something_ behind that loud music. I mean, I saw his mouth moving...

maybe a collaboration in the future may help the most people.

8:41 shwing!
Had to look it up 😂
The scribbling didn't help. Unreadable. But I learned things, so not a total loss.
Fair point, I'll try to be write more legibly, lol
enjoyed, but i don't like the music and it doesn't add anything useful .
Hmm it gave me several daytime emissions so different strokes I guess
@@goodluck5642it gave my butt some emissions that’s for sure. As soon as I turned on the video I started shitting
