We do not have to occupy Iran. We do not have to even send in any ground troops. Iranians killing Iranians will be nothing new. The Prince will probably become the new Shah, and there will be a Parliament or Congress of some sort (probably a Parliament, its way easier to cheat that system). There is no reason to drag out a conflict in a holy land to draw terror cells back from Europe and America like in Iraq. There isn't even a reason to provide a source of instability in the region, as it already is massively unstable by default (not to mention the water crisis), and Afghanistan and Pakistan are about to go full scale war with each other anyway. There isnt troops on the ground in Iran, there isnt troops in a neighboring country preparing to go, and there is not even a single amphibious ship of Marines in the Gulf at the moment (although they could be there within days if they wanted to go that route).
There is no reason to send troops in. We wont even have to if they keep striking all their neighbors. They'll do it. We bomb it, then leave. Send in the Green Berets to snatch their treasuries gold too. Its how we used to wage war, and how we have traditionally done it. We still snatched Iraqs gold in 03 though.
