The ending is canon for different reason and pretty simple one - Soviet Union is doomed to fall apart by the history. Alternative reality of COD never was that alternative to show the world where Soviets win Cold war.
As I understand it, Perseus is not a person, it is a group of soldiers who no longer work for the USSR or if not for themselves doing what they believe is correct even having influence in the USSR since they are disappointed in how the USSR has been weakening And for that they do things secretly from the government of the USSR.
"Perseus" is the nickname of a Soviet spy who, during the Cold War, tried to undermine the economy of USA in order for the Soviet Union to win the arms race. The identity of Perseus has not yet been established
Remind me of Wargame: European Escalation campaign, Able Archer. Set in 1983, Able Archer exercise proceed as usual but the Soviet Union, misunderstand it as a build-up for the invasion, launch a preemptive strike on Nato and successfully captured Germany. I can't help but think of it as Perseus's scheme from now on when I play that campaign.
Everyone saying a silo would have more guards and security then this, I suggest you reasearch it because they dont, they have less in fact. Two people locked inside, then a mobile response team that patrols multiple silo sites, and responds within 15 minutes (even that response team is only 3 in number). This is standard security for most sites as there is normally multiple sites across lets say a 50 mile radius, you dont jsut get one silo on its own in the middle of no where, theres always more. Around the site is cameras and trip sensors etc, there is a military base within a 50 mile radius so more untis can respond if required. The guards on these patrol duties are essentially home guard, never see action and its considered one of the most boring jobs in the military, its safe to say they are not "good or experienced soldiers" and the idea of one of them listenting to an MP3 is not out of the question. If faced with special forces, the repsonse team would stand zero chance and I doubt they would even make it out their jeep alive. There has been training exercises to test these defences in the past and the US failed spectacularly and a missile silo was actually seized, I shit you not. Theres videos on youtube about it, have a look
@sinz just google this, "usa missile silo captured in exercise" They are very cagey about what happened as they said it would breach security measures if they reveal too much. They were unable to recapture a silo before a nuke would have been launched. Theres been many failings over the years, another example would be when an engineer was meant to come and work on a silo and the 2 people inside legit just left the blast doors open for him, so anyone could have entered the facility. In another case, I think the response unit, surrendered or refused to fire their weapons and handed over control of a silo when faced with a hostage situation. Theres also a video here about the respone teams and safety measures they have in place, "the most boring job in the USAF". As I said, special forces would wipe the floor with them ruclips.net/video/NqZ9XvzFiqw/видео.html

In these kinds of missions, you don't want patches or national uniforms to confirm who's hitting you. You don't use your nation's ammo since it could be hard to obtain, as well as confirming who you are working for. In the event that the mission fails or someone is taken prisoner, not having any identifiers would give time to burn the books and erase the evidence, denying any knowledge or involvement.

The Red Wedding- er, Launch.
Yeah wargame series is cool too

@sinz just google this, "usa missile silo captured in exercise"
They are very cagey about what happened as they said it would breach security measures if they reveal too much.
As I said, special forces would wipe the floor with them

I can't believe the Soviets would attack Stargate Command like that.
The footage reel is just... Unbelievable...
Beautiful montage
There is literally a red button everywhere in the campaign of this game and I can’t resist pressing them
As long as they didn't find the Stargate that was 1 level lower
those Perseus operators sneaking into the base reminds me of call of duty ghosts
Ah yes! Cheyenne mountain. A beautiful place where lies a heavily defended complex under the mountain that is capable of destroying the entire world. Wait, heavily defended? Sorry, I meant 3 guards. Yep should protect the base. What, you think that's not enough? Oh, then our strong door will help defend it. What? It's easy to be broken into? Sounds legit.

1983, 2 years in shadow, meaning that Adler and his team attacked Solovetsky, although it's not known how he survive the gunshot or Adler shot himself. But in the season 1, we know Adler survived.

I honestly love the feeling of winning whilst becoming a bad guy
Your ending does matter. He got away so the truth ending is still the real ending this is just what happened two years after.
Right, so the good ending is canon?
@@Guido_Gideon yes the truth ending is cannon the only way the lie ending would be cannon is if for some reason Mason and woods survived the shooting.

Quite interesting that every piece of gear that Perseus uses are NATO made.
They’re probably covering their tracks that way. A rogue US spec ops unit is probably better to explain versus a Russian infiltration.

San Lorenzo I guess so, they look more like a seals VBSS unit in the 90s.
